Possibility for more HoT MPs in LS3?
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see more HoT masteries with LS3. All of LS2 rewarded mastery points, and since LS3 is going to require HoT anyway I could definitely see LS3 also giving mastery points, but for Maguuma instead of Central Tyria.
Nope, LWS3 should give Central tyria mastery points, along with an additional central tyria mastery track(s). With the only exception being if any instances are played in heart of magguuma maps. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of locking HoT mastery points to HoT maps and central tyria mastery points to central tyria maps
@OriOri: LWS 3 will only be available to HoT owners from what we were told.
It makes sense that LWS3 will award HoT mastery points for the reason Electro mentions.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I agree. I’d be very surprised if HoT mastery points aren’t included as part of LS3 achievement rewards. Besides what Electro/Konig have said, there are plenty of MPs for central Tyria already (unless new masteries are added) and there’s a lot of community interest in more options for Magus Fall masteries (even if no new masteries are added, which is also a possibility).
(INB4: yes, I know ANet stopped using Magus Falls — I think that was a mistake, since we already have too many “Maguuma” regions; I think “heart of maguuma” is more confusing, not less)
@Konig Des Todes even if it is only for HoT owners, that doesn’t change the fact that so far the only HoT mastery points we have obtained have been from HoT exclusive maps. All mastery points from central Tyria maps are central tyria mastery points, even though they are still locked behind owning HoT. If LWS3 doesn’t take place in the heart of magguuma then it would just make sense to not have it award HoT mastery points.
If there are new maps added in S3, then those maps will be HoT exclusive maps.
If there are new story instances in S3, then those story instances will be HoT exclusive.
I don’t get what your complaint is.
Just look at Season 2. All mastery points were tied to either the new maps (Dry Top and Silverwastes) or story instances. Season 3 will no doubt be the same.
Any achievements in the current maps would no doubt just reward mastery experience, like the Current Events achievements do. But if Season 2 is anything to go by… there won’t be many of those.
Most likely we’ll finally be getting the map north of Brisban (Majesty’s Rest area) and Lake Doric as part of S3, if we get two maps again like S2, which as mentioned would end up being HoT exclusive just as all of S3 will be.
Of course, there is a chance that S3 will add mastery points for both Heart of Maguuma masteries and Central Tyria masteries. Or some entirely new set of mastery tracks.
And even then, it doesn’t need to be in the four maps to give Heart of Maguuma mastery points – it’s really ArenaNet’s decision in the end.

Mastery tracks are exclusive to HoT content so why did ANet bother separating Heart of Maguuma mastery tracks from central Tyria tracks? All I’m saying is that if LWS3 doesn’t take place in heart of Maguuma then it really doesn’t make much sense to give it heart of maguuma mastery points. I mean really, if you are spending your time around Divinity’s Reach then why do you expect that to allow you to improve your Nunoch hunting mastery, or your itzel/exalted mastery line? It just doesn’t make sense, especially since the whole notion of mastery points is that your character is “training” to figure out these abilities. But if you are nowhere near the heart of maguuma then how exactly is your character supposed to be training a mastery that only applies in the heart of maguuma?
New regions/ new expansion = new mastery tracks and mastery points to match.
That’s probably why they are separate.
