I believe it was in the journals we saw while we had the marionette patch.
There has been no proof yet, and there may never be, depending on what your definition of proof is. I doubt Mordremoth with ever jump out from behind a tree yelling “It was me, kittens!” We may get a confirmatory bit of dialog from our fearless NPC gang.
Jory: “Looks like it was this jungle dragon that was whispering those ‘sweet nothings’ into Scarlet’s head the whole time, doll.”
Kasmeer: “Your detective skills are what I love most about you!” * swoon *
Taimi: “Poor Scarlet!”
Braham: “Aw, sorry kiddo, come snuggle Uncle Braham.”
Rox: “Why am I even here?”
That’s not to say the context clues have been strong enough to be considered proof, I just think that the reason you see many people assuming it was Mordremoth is because it seems to fit pretty well, being that Morde is the jungle dragon, has already shown the ability to corrupt plants (we assume the vines are under his influence) and it follows that he/she/it may be able to influence Sylvari in a similar way. You’re right that there are other possible explanations. We’ll have to wait and see.

Maybe it really does have nothing to do with Mordi. It’s just highly coincidental that she woke him up in her rampage of insanity.
Edit: Here’s a random thought. After going through Omadd’s machine and becoming ‘Scarlet’, she also gained the ability to grow/summon vines. Something she wasn’t able to do before. I wonder how similar those were to the vines and thorns we’re encountering presently, which we again assume are related to Mordi. It would seem very odd if none of it ended up related in any way.

It would point to corruption. But then did it only happen that way because she is a Sylvai. Would the effects have been different if she had been human? What if a different big bad took hold of her? The story of Guild Wars is a good comparison to show here. For a good chunk of the game we think the Murssat are the big bad, but then at the last moment we find out they are keeping something much more sinister at bay, be it at an price most would not pay. The Titans are the true big bad of the Prophercies story line. If it where not for the Merssat they would have broken through the Door of Kurmaly(or how ever you spell it) and the players where the ones having there strings pulled, just like Scarlet was.
Just a thought.

I find it interesting that the only creatures we have seen (thus far) affected by this corruption (dragon or otherwise) are the Sylvari. It’s not like other creatures aren’t available.
Considering we know that the dragons are the “big bads” of the GW2 story, I would be very surprised if Anet twists it into anything even remotely like the Mursaat.
Although, I will argue the whole “we think the mursaat are the big bad” aspect. We don’t even encounter the Mursaat until we get to the Southern Shiverpeaks at basically the end of the game. There really is no “big bad” to defeat until the Lich reveals himself and we feel like chumps. At first its the Charr, then it’s the Shining Blade, then it’s actually the White Mantle. After that it’s all about becoming Ascended to get stronger. Once we get Ascended and continue to the Southern Shiverpeaks, it’s still the White Mantle, and now we meet the Mursaat. After all that, we learn that we’ve been had and the bad guy has been the one making all the suggestions – the Vizier.
While it is true that the Mursaat guard the Door of Komalie, that doesn’t make them “the good guys” either. At that point, they are just in the way to taking out the Lich. The titans aren’t even the “true” big bad. They are just “another” one.

We never fight the shining Blade. We just take it at the White Mantels word that they are the “Bad Guys” we knew something was not right with the Mantel and there Unseen Gods. I think you and I understand the story of Prophercies differently., and that’s fine.

I never specifically said “fight.” I was covering the list of those we viewed as the bad guys, and at the beginning of our trek through Kryta, we do view the Shining Blade as ‘the bad guys.’ Yes, it’s because of the white mantle, but that’s neither here nor there in the context of the discussion.
Too much text so dunno if anyone said it yet, but while there is no and probably will not be any factual proof, there are things that very strongly point to Scarlet being corrupted by Mordremoth.
For one, her secret lair in Lornar’s Pass had a giant dragon painted in the ceiling, thus she has something to do with dragons.
And secondly, when defeating her on the breachmaker, she did everything to stall us so that we wouldn’t defeat her and reach the controls on the breachmaker in time. She told us how she succeeded and how tyria will bow before it’s new master. After that it cuts to a sequence that shows the breachmaker breaching the leyline and waking up something with very big teeth that is beyond the Thaumanova reactor, in a jungly area. This coincides very much with where Mordremoth is and given that he’s a dragon, he’s likely to have teeth.
It thus follows that Mordremoth is the new master and that Scarlet was corrupted by him.

I think Mikuchan pretty much connected the dots that I think we are supposed to connect here. But on the matter of the voices in Scarlet’s head, there’s some strong evidence that something was in fact talking to her or through her. Fairly big spoiler in the following video if you haven’t done ep 1 of S2 yet but relevant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-HxOhTq6sk8#t=96
The hologram journal that scarlet leaves suggests that something else was with her when she emerged from Omadd’s machine. I remember one of the npcs suggesting that everything that was motivating her was inside her head. What we can hear in her journal definitely sounds quite outside of her head. Just who or what that was that was helping with the double talk, good chance it’s Mordy as Mikuchan suggested.
While I am unsure 100% if what was in Scarlet’s head was Mordremoth, the limited evidence we have does suggest it. What makes this concerning is so far we have very little to suggest the other Elder Dragons communicate so intimately with those they corrupt, even Zhaitan seemed to pretty much just let his champions serve him how ever they saw fit. This suggests that perhaps Mordremoth is far more intelligent than the other dragons, though we have not had much contact with Primordus, but he seems more the destructive rampage type. It is worrying that Mordremoth seems to be very tactically inclined if Scarlet was just a pawn for him the entire time and not acting on her own volition, as well as Aerin’s prattle to some voice only he could hear. The question is, how afraid should Tyria be of this ED as opposed to Jormag or Primordus?

I wouldn’t discount the intelligence of Zhaitan or the other dragons. I think we’ve already seen a wide variety in the level of intelligence, strength, and personality from the minions of the other dragons. The newly risen soldiers in Zhaitan’s army were dumb as bricks for sure but the dragon champions in his army were massively strong and durable. The eyes and mouth of Zhaitan showed incredible intelligence in conversation with the characters. Even who Zhaitan chose to be the eyes shows a degree of care and intent on who he cursed.
Jormag showed an odd interest in temptation and mind control through his champions as we learn in Edge of Destiny when they fight one of Jormag’s champions in a cave and in EOTN through Jora’s explanation of her brother Svanir giving in to the sleeping champion beneath the lake when she did not. To me, this suggests an interest in means of control beyond a more animal show of strength that Jormag is clearly capable of meting out.
Idunno. I think Mordremoth playing favorites with Scarlet doesn’t seem entirely out of the ordinary.
Valid points. It just struck me as a bit odd I guess.
Scarlet used vines to kill Omadd. That seems to be a good link to whatever is causing these vines to appear. I can think of no other instance where a sylvari used vines to kill some one.
Scarlet’s diary from season 1 talks about whispers from the forest. The entity most associated with forest is going to be the jungle dragon, of course. She then went to extreme lengths to wake up a dragon who is sleeping in Maguuma.
You’ve also got to consider that the elder dragons corrupt everything, whether it is minions, the land, or magic. It’s hard to see who or what else would want to see a dragon wake apart from the dragon’s servants. There is vaguely plausible argument that Scarlet could want the dragon woken so that it could be killed but that’s firstly optimistic and secondly rather rash, given that the dragon could have remained asleep for many more mortal lifetimes.

What about a Pale Tree.
We can still keep the idea that Elder Dragons are just unintelligent forces of nature by simply introducing a dragon champion in between that is intelligent.
Scarlet’s master would still be Mordremoth and he could have corrupted her, but then a champion did the intelligent stuff from there on after the “corruption” and “communication link” was established.
It could even be that said champion established the connection in place of Mordremoth. The champion then influenced Scarlet by using Mordremoth’s power just like any other champion.
Said champion could very likely be another “pale tree” that is somewhere in Maguuma. “Pale trees” are after all intelligent and spawning pools to minions that cannot be corrupted by other dragons. They even control the minions by giving them “dreams” and “missions” and “wyld hunts” and what not.
Even with all that, Mordremoth would obviously be the master since he’s the master of the champion which controls Scarlet.
So either way, champion or direct contact, it still works out and a champion would explain the intelligence. Especially if the champion had the capability of a “pale tree”.
We can still keep the idea that Elder Dragons are just unintelligent forces of nature…
Do you consider holding conversations with ants intelligent.

If you haven’t yet, check out the trailer for Origin of Madness, it’s clearly a dark voice talking about her. Whether it’s a dragon or a person.. who knows at this point, it are assumptions untill we find out more.

The Sylvari as a race has the ability to grow and manipulate plants like that. It’s how they grow their leafy armor/weapons, build their houses/bases, and it’s where the Sylvari racial skills comes from.
There is no resin it couldn’t be.

I’m still debating with myself whether that voice is legitimate or just meant to make that video seem mysterious. ANet after all is trying to “sell” (in the figurative sense) these Living Story updates to the audience. Adding a foreboding and deep, spooky, voice just adds to the appeal they were going for; get people asking questions about Scarlet in the hopes that the conclusion would give us answers while knowing full well it would only stir more. Hard to say until we hear Mordremoth for ourselves.
EDIT: The voice does sound peculiar in terms of what it’s saying. “You all don’t have to die but if she must, she’ll kill you.” Until we meet Mord though, we’ll see.

Not quite like that. It was mentioned somewhere that this was something new after the experiment. I haven’t had a chance to hunt it down. Heck it may have been something Angel said in an interview, but I recall hearing it. Sooner or later I’ll run across it again, it the plethora of data out there.

You guys may have seen this thread,; it delves directly into who’s narrating and has a note from Ms. McCoy.

Lets put facts here :
Scarlet is a plant – Mordremoth is a plant.
Dragons are the only creature that have the power to enter a mind of someone – Was someone inside the mind of scarlet (Go see her diary)
Scarlet indeed awoke a dragon – A dragon indeed awoken into maguume region.
Vines, plants, and salad being crazy all around – Which dragon have nature powers? The ice jormag, the fire primordus, the crystal kralkratorrik, or maybe its the dead zhaitan!
No, the one in charge of saladmens is mordremoth.
