To preface this I speak for no one but myself but I have a feeling others may also feel this way. While I commend Anet for doling out content on a regular basis to remain relevant it is less than satisfying as each patch is met with less and less zeal. I usually wait for a week after the initial enthusiasm and have a better chance of getting in on the main instead of the usual overflow. Getting in on main on release means standing there for quite some time before the actual event? Yea, not fun.

What do I want personally? I would give up past present and future LS for something actually fun that gives me a reason to log in. I loved GW1 xpacks with new areas, classes and weapons.

Ex. - The Ritualists are one of the oldest known professions on Tyria. Being unique to Cantha, they have existed long before the Exodus and the gods granting magic to the races. Before magic, the Ritualists relied upon a power similar to magic, granted to them by their powerful ancestors whom maintained a connection to their descendants. Through their spirits, the Ritualists were able to practice magic, or something close to it. When magic was granted by the gods, many of the original abilities were strengthened and merged into their modern form. Though still relying on the power of the dead, their original skills are no longer a visible part of the profession.

Ritualists are masters of spirits, able to call upon them in battle for aid. They are the only profession capable of summoning allies that will both aid your team and hinder your enemies, unlike the Ranger’s nature rituals or Necromancer’s minions. They are also capable of using unique weapon spells and summoning ashes to aid in battle, and can directly attack foes or aid allies. As such, they are one of the most diverse professions.

-Taken from GW1 Wiki-

While just an example this is what I loved and considered real content. Others may include:
Weapons: 2h axes, crossbows etc…
Zones: Cantha, Far Shiverpeaks (never forget my first trek to HoM), Crystal Desert etc…
New Races/Classes
Lvl cap?

So while I do enjoy the small things in Anet’s content patches I truly desire the awe and excitement of truly new and fresh additions to a game I love to play.

I think they did a pretty good job with living story during this update and really look forward to the next three (the did a good job teasing that content in game this time).

As for new features, Im optimistic about the march features patch and that it will bring some of the new things you are looking for. I’m most excited about the possible new traits and skills progression system they’ve been talking about. Im less interested in seeing new professions at this time in lieue of new ways to build our current characters.

New weapons, new zones, new races – definitely all would be welcome.

Not interested in raising the level cap anytime soon (if ever). It means we can hop off the stat hamster wheel for a while. Like the gear stat plateau we have now – with the slight (but not gamechanging) progression offered by ascended gear.

Weve had plenty of doom and gloom posts on the forums. While I think they are important and something Anet should see as they develop content, I believe that we will see some pretty cool stuff – and soon – but not at the expense of the living story (which seems to be getting its sea legs steadier and steadier with each patch).

To the point of overflows and standing around waiting for bosses – those can be avoided pretty easily by simply selecting a server that isnt one of the 3-4 rushed by 90 percent of the population. Population spread is the single best solution to those issues.

I think Anet hears these things and listens. I also think the game will evolve over time, as other MMOs have. I think at some point we may see a complete overhaul of the skill system (high hopes). Dual-classes, as in GW1, would be an amazing way to add an enormous amount of build diversity. Being able to use new skills for weapons, along with being able to customize those skills, would be most welcome. I think people would love to see the Ritualist back and the Dervish as well. They could add both those classes whenever they released content for Cantha and Elona.

If they aren’t planning these types of things for the future then that makes me sad.

I agree with most of what you said. However why are they continuing for push content that is only being played on 3-4 servers( of 24 NA and 27 EU). The rest of the 20 or so servers are out of luck if they want to successfully complete these events.

I guess I’m one of the few that find the LS not particularly exciting especially in the larger scope of what makes an mmo fun. Actually I’m glad you enjoy it as do many others because that means that the excitement for the game is still there and gives ppl like me hope that Anet may yet some day add the content that we find exciting. If not then I know I don’t have to stay in Tyria but that would be a sad day indeed.

-Tbh I would loooove to see Bungie bring Destiny to the pc but that’s another story.

This was exactly to my point. Well said.
