I, for one, am really excited for tomorrow when everything for the past 8 months finally comes to a head. If this pulls through the expectations and the hype, it will show the true strength of the Living World and really shine as something ANet is dedicated to: always pursuing new methods of being awesome. Either way, the Living World has a lot of potential going forward; and for this I say

Great Game, Anet! You’ve put your money behind risks, you’ve had (and will continue to get) your ups and downs, and you’ll pull through with the Living Story soon, if not tomorrow. Call it fanboying, but at least it’s for leading the way into paths previously unexplored and untamed.

To be honest, personally I’m not much bothered with the LS route. They’ve been enjoyable so far for me. Whatever content/achievements I didn’t find interesting or couldn’t finish I simply ignored them.

I’m yet to finish Gauntlet meta-achievement, and am glad that it’s separate from QJ meta. I doubt if I ever will finish it and that’s the best part from gameplay perspective – you can choose what you want to do and what you do not want to do.

From story perspective, I love the whole theorycrafting that I see on the forums and the anticipation on what the Queen is about to say, and who Scarlet is and what she’s gonna do at the Speech and how exactly are all the living stories going to be tied up, along with references to GW lore here and there, like Glint and Canthans and Elonians the Brotherhood – it’s interesting. The best part is not how the story is gonna end up when the patch hits, but how wild the speculation has been so far – with all kind of probable and weird theories.

I don’t think every cliché works in every situation and the one I’m about to use isn’t 100% perfect for this scenario (because I have enjoyed the “story” this month) but the journey is just as important as the destination. Even if there is a story pay off with the Queen’s Speech, as someone who has been paying attention the whole time, I think they did a poor job telling the story up until now. A lot of underwhelming and weakly connected events. The continuing narrative is where the drive to return for story reasons comes from, and there was almost no continuing narrative since Flame and Frost. They buried all the most interesting stuff or simply didn’t show it.

It felt like there was little to no purpose to our actions for the last year, I’m not one of those people who finds out “it was Scarlet all along” and then forgets that the story wasn’t very engaging prior to that.

I had a lot of stuff to say, now I have no idea how to put it into words. I’ll still try though. I’ve had mixed feelings about the living story, Fire and Ice rolled out so slowly, that I spent most of my time wondering if I was missing something. The Holiday stuff was fun, but I always seemed to miss the ‘one time’ only events, that also happened with some of the southsun final stuff. However these last few events have seemed to be better, still small in a way. Stuff that is one five minute mission, then over. I am really hoping to see more stuff like Southsun, where we get to see new places, or what would be great is a way to get people into the empty parts of the map, like Timberline falls.

But, to me those are only minor conflicts, I love everything that is happened all I want is more. I eat this kind of stuff up, lore and story are my favorite parts of the guildwars universe. The few tidbits about Glint in the Bazaar of the Four Winds, that made everything else about those events worth while to me. I love you A-net, and looking forward at what is to come!
