Is there any way to restart the middle parts of episodes in Living World, Season 2?

I’m working on the achievements for “Recalibrating the Waypoints.” I can restart “The Dragon’s Reach, Part 2”, but that puts me at “Party Politics,” which …puts me to sleep. I’d like to go directly to “Recalibrating” without attending another ministry social event.

I see the green starburst for Party in Div Reach, but no purple starburst to begin Recalibrate (not in DR, not in Dry Top). Do I really need to go to the party again? Or is there some other place I need to go to get started with the middle of the episode?

Many thanks.

As far as I know (which isn’t a lot), one can only replay entire chapters; at least, in Season Two. The Journal is how one navigates to separate chapters, and the instances contained within said chapters don’t seem to show up on the part of the Journal you can use to navigate.

On the other hand, I could be way off-base. Sorry.

I don’t know one way or another but I do remember back when the episode first came out that there was a lot of complaining on these forums about having to go through all the tedious bits to get to the achieve parts.

Weren’t there more than one team working in rotation to crank out the chapters? The ease of bit-by-bit replay did seem to pendulum from chapter to chapter. So one team gave us purple stars and even fight-by-fight achieve resets (like in Glint’s Lair), and another … didn’t.

Another possibility, which never occurred to me, is that apparently characters could do the ‘episodes’ out of order. (Maybe that’s true for LS3, too?) As it turns out, the character I chose for the chieves had done the early episodes and the later ones, but not Dragging Wretch, Part 2 — I am getting the initial story rewards, having decided to plow through the episode while waiting to see if anyone had any other thoughts on ‘shortcuts’.

So I think it’s probably a combination of a variety of things:

  • LS2: can’t do achievements (mostly) without the character having completed the relevant episode first.
  • LS2: episodes are long, divided into several instances and open world elements.
  • LS2 (and maybe 3): allowed to do the episodes out-of-order, unlike HoT/PS stories.

I’m guessing that after I complete the Summit (on this toon), I’ll be able to go back and get the purple starbursts for the intermediate story parts.

Thanks for your quick responses — I’ll report back if I have any additional details that might be useful if someone else has the same question later.

Once you’re on the actual _re_play of the episode, you can go to any of that episode’s story instance and start it. It’ll point you to the original order, but all the insances will have different colored stars on the map.

Edit: I really shouldn’t post “helpful” stuff before my coffee. Apparently I lack too much reading comprehension.
You are entirely correct in your conclusion.

Eh, I’m happy to have the confirmation.
