Returning Player: LS Season 2 Confusion
1) ArenaNet has stated, multiple times, that they do intend to make Season 1 permanent content. The issue is that it was mostly open world content, and not designed in the first place for the story journals, thus it will take time and effort to translate the content from one format to the other. It’ll take time, and it’s not a high priority – Season 2 is. I’m hopeful that the third feature batch (given rate of things, likely to be released January 27th, I’m betting) will contain Season 1 – and maybe the PS – in permanent, repeatable fashion akin to Season 2.
Until then, you’d just have to find a S1 summary online. One I’d suggest is: http://guildmag.com/magazine/issue11/season_one_summary_story.htm
2) This was a known problem and the writers – specifically Bobby Stein – explained that it was meant to be that, as a commander of the Pact our PCs would know of the dragons name since knowledge of the dragon is relatively known by the Priory (which would also thus explain Marjory’s knowledge of it, being an inactive Priory member). In the end, they responded with “in hindsight, we could have done better.”
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I would agree, Helmos.
As a player who lost interest in the game entirely after the initial Southsun update, the Living Story from Season 2’s beginning felt disjointed at best.
The only way I could reconcile the relationships and forced history put upon my character, was to simply believe it was a bad case of mistaken identity.
That my Pact Commander was just playing up this false profile as the ‘Hero of Lion’s Arch’ as a way to investigate rumours of an Elder Dragon’s awakening.
While that works well enough for me, I would hope Season 1’s content is remade sooner rather than later. For I’m seeing more people come back to the story quite perplexed.
There was a festival in the interlude between season 1 and 2 with the return of Queen’s Pavilion and Labyrinthine Cliffs. The characters at the festival gave a recap of season 1 and there was also an introduction for some of the Zephyrite characters (Aerin, Master of Peace) seen in season 2.
1) Those are not the only problem. I was there when Scarlet attacked Lion’s Arch, but I was with the Biconics. Then Scarlet died and I got all the credits in Season 2. Braham is talking to me as if I was there with him.
However as a human noble who defeated Zhaitan, they added a very sweet touch to my dialogue with Belinda that I find really amazing and personal.

PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
