So what happens if I miss an episode?

Will we have to buy it in the gem store like you do with S1 and 2?

You can’t buy S1. After the release window, you will have to purchase the episode with gems.

Considering Episodes are active for 2 to 3 months, it may be more difficult to miss the window.

You do, if you log in during each episodes “release window” which means the time in between episodes when each episode is the most current one out. This is identical to how S2 worked.

Although, you do not need to own HoT to unlock these episodes by logging in during their release window, you do need HoT to play the episodes though. This is different from S2 obviously. However, the interesting bit is that you could be playing on a free account and unlock these episodes for free (during their release window), then if you ever buy HoT you will immediately have access to these episodes for now extra cost (I believe ANet referred to this as “banking” the episode).

But do you need to have a level 80 character?

Got several accounts, the ones with level 80s tell me the episode is unlocked, but I need to purchase HoT
The ones without level 80s say nothing at all…..

But as last time, Anet really shouldnt wall off the story behind the gem store!
People like Valky will think LS is included with HoT even if they do not log in, but we all know that isnt true. And again people will be forced to pay for it twice.

Pretty sure if you buy HoT after LW S3 ends, you will not get these episodes unless you buy them from gem store!

you only need to be level 80 to play them, not to unlock them.

Also, it’s not walled off, just log in during the episode’s original release and get it for free.

If you have logged in, you will get them free. If not, well, you will have to either use cash or earn them in-game.

Oh right, you can always use gold.
