Guild Wars 2

I opened one of the 4 lab things and got a buff from a tree. Put me in a green ball. Got tired, and had to log out. Today I logged back in in LA and I don’t have the buff or green ball effect any more, but I’ve still completed that 1 of 4 vaults for one level of buff.

Can I get that back when I go back, or will it appear on me again? Do I have to drop the quest and some how start it again to get all 4 before I continue? Is this something I have to plan to do all in one sitting?
