I really enjoyed the final fight with the Shadow of the Dragon. It was challenging but still remained to feel very do-able solo. It also felt imminent, which is a feeling I find we lack in GW2 LS.

Plus the Shadow’s design was great.

I solo’d with my Ele but it was difficult for a squishy char. Only took 1 try but I damaged every piece of armor. It seems like once you go down you are finished since the tendrils throw so much/constant damage you can never heal out of it.
I found myself taking all 3 down to almost nothing and then when I went down hit one to get a rally.

I did enjoy the fight but I felt like I couldn’t hit the dragon’s head with anything other than my #1 skill. Tried some AOE but was not very effective.

Anyone else have this problem?

Why so serious?

I beat the regular mode and attempted the challenge mode only ONE time and I failed the challenged mode ONE time………needs to be nerfed.

On a side note it was a great fight and I’m excited to see Anet having bosses that have a bit more then just stack and burn.

Honestly I find the dragon very similar to Tequatle, but the fight was indeed epic.

Something that I always felt that GW2 lacked was the feeling of being… powerful, most of the content is designed to do it with others. But this? Being able to draw back one of the most powerful minion a dragon can create by yourself feels really epic.

Really enjoyed the fight, played it on my self healing warrior so was pretty easy to complete first time, apart from the bit where I dodge rolled off a cliff : /.

All the aoe attacks were well telegraphed with just enough time to roll out the way or find a spot to hide, and not too stressful.

Will have to see how I get on with my squishier characters.

Isn’t it the same design as the dragon during the first Sylvari personal story? (when you’re still in the Dream).

Any plan that involves dead quaggans is, by design, foolproof. I’m an unmitigated genius!

Possibly, but it’s a very long time since I did that. :P

I have to agree. THIS was the fight that made me feel like a badkitten. It was tough, I had to think and learn on the fly, and it was still reasonably doable. I loved it!

I hope Season 2 ends with a rematch against that dragon, just the player alone against it. To the death, this time. I want to take it on alone, and come back dragging its severed head behind me to remind everyone of just who I am.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I had my frost bow on my skill bar..using 4 on his head will burn 20-25%

Yes I’d also like a recurring fight with this minion. Maybe not even just 1 more time, maybe twice (depending on how long this season is going to last).

We do need a good reoccurring villain, don’t we? Not Scarlet level of reoccurring, but … I guess I’d say Ridley (in Metroid Prime) level of reoccurring. Some big bad that we know we’re chasing after, and it’s going to be personal whenever we meet.

Yes! This dragon battle was awesome…frustrating as he kept spawning extra stuff other than the tendrils but I was really pleased with it. It had me thinking and reacting, rather than just bashing the dragon down. Well done devs…well done.

Yeah. Recurring in the sense that he comes back 2-3 times after this, stronger with new attacks everytime. This will making defeating him actually meaningful. “Yes, got you this time!”.

it was def a fun solo battle….not easy solo , but by no means really “hard” or cheap.

Perfect “difficulty” for a content that has a wide range of skill playing it………ignore the extreme ends, and target the rest…which you did well with this Ep 4 boss. really loving LS2

Chaos Organ (Ele), Pistol Opera (Thief), Modular Man (Eng)
MARA (EU) Gunnar’s Hold

That fight was very well designed in my opinion and I liked that we were alone against the Shadow of the Dragon (not counting Avatar of the Pale Tree). It was much more intense than with NPCs running around doing zero damage. Even more intense for a sylvari player.
Although I think the boss should have more hp, because, as I mentioned in another thread, damage we deal to it is too big imo.
Still a great experience and I don’t mind replaying the instance either for achievements or just for fun.
