SW red boss and AoE
People just don’t know the mechanics… because some commanders used to say “No AOE at red” a long time ago (before the mechanics were understood) people still think AoE is bad at Red. The Heal of the offsprings is way too little to be of any concern, only need to avoid destroying the bubbles next to the boss. It’s plain idiotic when people just auto attack the boss doing next to no damage instead of going all out and killing it….
Same with the amazing “no CC at blue” nonsense
The larger bubbles will pop regardless of if you hit them or not, meaning that the boss will always heal a little bit. Each bubble that is popped near the boss will heal it for roughly 2%. The people that couldn’t be bothered with learning the mechanics simply blame it on AoE because that’s what they were told. AoE for the first 80% is somewhat okay, but after that, it can be really bad due to the smaller bubbles.
What’s worse than AoE is people AFKing with terrible ranged attacks. For example, I’ve seen elementalists only use staff #1 on either earth or water. If you do that, it would be more efficient for you to leave, as you’re only making it worse due to upscaling.
Also, if everyone is on the ledge, that means no one is doing the encounter properly which can cause the boss to rapidly regenerate as it begins to reset.

All I know is the Husk was usually killed first or second of the bunch before all this “NO AOE AT RED” spam started and now it’s either failing or being killed dead last. Coincidence?
It’s just people who don’t know the mechanics, commanders who (for simplicity sake) just tell people not to AoE and then people get this idea that AoE heals him. I’ve had people cry no AoE and saying noobs are going make us fail red when no one even was AoEing and it was a combo of bubbles hitting the boss and him deaggroing briefly. It’s just a bunch of people who don’t take the time to learn.
There was at one point people also saying not to AoE the thrasher, because they thought the poison bubbles healed him. But I think that’s stopped.
Ideally in the red fight, a couple people would hop down into the ‘pit’ with the red boss. Someone usually gets the little adds aggroed onto them and someone else sometimes get just the boss onto them, allowing them to move him around and away from bubbles. (And to keep him from deaggroing)

Agreed… Seriously, during the first week of Silverwastes, Copper Husk was next to impossible to fail and then what seemed like overnight it became the most likely to fail. People are afraid so afraid to do anything at copper now. It’s really sad. >.<
So basically, it’s:
1. Ideally, have a tanky guy kite the adds away from the boss. (AoE characters can then safely nuke these guys.)
2. If you are Condi-based, focus on the boss.
3. If you are Power-based, kill the bubbles. If no bubbles are around, focus on the boss.
4. Classes with boon strips (i.e. Mesmers and Necros) have skills ready to strip them if they go up on the boss.
5. If you are stuck with using AoE skills (e.g. Staff Ele), focus more on the Bubbles, or on the adds if your tank is smart and has pulled them away from the boss.
So basically, it’s:
Anyone can deal with the offshoots. They tend to bug out due to people hiding on the ledge, causing them to stop doing their only melee attack, allowing the person tanking them to simply stand there without any risk. As soon as the person on the ledge pops out though, the offshoots will shoot them. The first person to jump down should be tanky/anti-projectile however, as they’re usually shot at first.
As for killing the bubbles, it’s better to control them instead as they will respawn shortly after. Ideally, you want to kite the husk around the room as the bubbles follow. Below 20%, when the smaller bubbles begin spawning, push them all away and take the husk to one of the corners. The offshoots can also be left on top of the husk in an attempt for them to soak up any AoE.
On Copper, for at least one time, i really like to see no people hiding on the ledge , just to see if this is why the adds target a player ramdomly. It ‘s really annoying to have all this bleed and can’t do anything about it, exept waypoint.

^ This all the way.
Been away from SW for a while after the first few days. When I returned there I was like “WTH seriously? Red fails now?” …
It’s depressing. Forcing people to make themselves deliberately underdamaging and causing the event to fail at the last 2-3% hp because too little damage being dealt.
Honestly, in every red fails which I witnessed, boss barely received any heal, its hp just went down too slowly.
Add to it the brilliant “RED NEEDS HELP!” → 10000000000 billion people rush red upscaling it beyond imagination.
Upscaled hp+way too low dmg=success. #zerglogics

Yup, when SW was first introduced, Gold&Silver was the hardest to kill, Copper was barely a problem back then.
“No AoE at Red” + “only spam 1” turns Copper into the most likely boss to fail.
It’s a sad thing to see Copper and Gold&Silver swapped place not because of the difficulty but player’s sheep mentality.
I’ve just stopped caring. Especially after seeing people too stupid to even move away from the ledge when the boss is hitting them. -_-

Or even worse, not moving away ftom the ledge when boss is out of range and staying there to spam 1 on the air…

Lazy auto attackers on the ledge cause the boss to fail.
The little guys just give the boss regeneration, which doesn’t stack and is easily stripped. The bubbles only heal the boss if they die next to the boss. If they die away from the boss they do nothing.
If nobody is down below the boss can reset.
