I’m a fan of the DE 2.0 group, they’re fun characters to lead you through each LS release. I liked Rox immediately, Braham soon after, Marjory is pretty cool (although the constant fawning over Kasmeer gets a bit dull) and I was sceptical about Taimi, because the whole ‘precocious child’ thing could easily be annoying, but I think she’s adorable, has great voice work, and her disability makes her more likable, and stops her being too perfect.

So they’re our representatives for each race, so nobody feels left out and we get a lot of contrasting personalities and viewpoints. We’re just missing a sylvari.

Seeing as a sylvari is currently the villain, it makes sense to not overload the story with them, plus it might necessitate leaning on an extra plant person for answers about Scarlet. But after Scarlet is defeated, surely a sylvari will join the sub-Destiny’s Edge group.

It’s probably going to be Ceara. The investigation scene emphasised that she was a normal girl before trying to look into the eternal alchemy or something. Something has corrupted her mind. The separation of that previous ‘normal’ persona from her current state as Scarlet Briar, and name-dropping the Ceara part, implies we’ll end up fixing Scarlet’s mind and returning her to her original self eventually. There’s also that the LS characters mostly have some connection to their DE equivalent (Rox trying to get into Rytlock’s warband, Braham is Eir’s son) and Scarlet has some connection to Caithe and knows secrets about her.

I’m kind of apprehensive about this, it just seems like we’ve got all this stuff about something ‘controlling Scarlet’s mind’ and scaring her and turning her insane for its own purpose, so that once we confront whatever that enemy is, Scarlet gets healed back into Ceara and absolved because she wasn’t really in control of her actions, and takes the sylvari spot in the group to use her abilities for good.

I’d be kinda peeved if that happened, since Scarlet has caused a heck of a lot of trouble, killed people, attempted regicide, etc, I hope we don’t just forget all that because she wasn’t in her right mind. :P I’d much rather put both of them down for good. I’m getting tired of hearing Tara Strong in everything, lol.

On the other hand, there’s Canach, but not much has been done with him, even though he does seem accepting of his punishment and was never really that bad. A male sylvari rep would also keep things more even, if it was Ceara, there’d only be one male in the group. It could be someone who hasn’t been introduced yet to keep the story less chock-full of sylvari, but all the focus on how ‘Ceara is being controlled by something’ makes me think it’ll be her.

Until then though, I play a sylvari so I can just pretend I’m the missing piece until proven otherwise.

tl;dr scarlet’s irritating and i hope she doesn’t get reformed and forgiven at the end of the plot

I think it’s more likely that Scarlet will receive a partly redeeming death scene, in which she is defeated in the final battle, briefly reverts back to Ceara, says something about achieving freedom, and then dies.

DE2 has toooooo many females so adding another in ceara/scarlet is not likely. Reappearance of Canach makes him a dead certaintly i reckon. Particularly with his redemption/principles talk.

She is unforgivable in many ways but in story terms she created bitter enemies all across Tyria so she will always be unforgiven no matter how she redeems herself.

If canach joins, then either majory or kasmeer is going to be so dead.

Nah, it’s going to be Canach. Like Aajolea says, his talk about redemption and clearing his debt, plus that off-hand remark about how somebody could buy his billet and allow him to work off his debt, pretty much guarantees that somebody (probably Kiel or Marjory) will do this in the very near future (most likely when LA is attacked).

I wouldnt trust Ceara in my group either way. Scarlet and possible mind-control aside, she was never reliable in the first place. She started something, then got bored of it and left. Over and over again. Thats like Logan squared, with no debatably valid reasons from her part other than " I learned all i wanted already. Ta!"

Canach is a strong candidate for the missing sylvari spot. Either by choice or coincidence, with the looming attack on LA and all.

I don’t think Canach’s billet will be bought by Marjory, Kasmeer, Rox or Braham.

Marjory is a struggling entrepreneur who deals more in favors than in money.
Kasmeer is broke and dependent on Marjory.
Rox and Braham would not even consider politics.
Taimi is a runaway child with nothing but a golem.

If anyone would buy his billet, the candidates would be:
- The Consortium (in order to get back at him and make him disappear)
- Captain Evon Gnashblade (who has money and yearns for more influence)
- the mysterious E (who may need an agent so that he/she can remain in the shadows)
- Captain Ellen Kiel (if she ever needs someone to do her dirty work who is NOT the players)
- Captain Magnus the Bloody-Handed (if he ever needs someone to do his dirty work who is NOT Ellen Kiel)
- A new unknown party

Of course, any of these people could have Canach infiltrate Marjory’s group for some reason. Except the mysterious E, who already has a direct in with Marjory.

Sure…. it can be just like the judicial system in real life. We ‘sympathize’ with the villain and pretend everything is peachy just because the villain pleaded insanity. “Yes, it’s true that I killed my wife, but I wasn’t in my right mind, so I’m not a criminal and I deserve to go free.” NOT.

Given the grief the playerbase has give ANet about Scarlet in these very forums, I doubt that we will see her in a major role again any time soon after her story is concluded.

While I agree that she shouldn’t be the Sylvari spot in Destiny’s Edge 2.0 I still don’t want her killed off. While yes she killed a lot of people and screwed a lot stuff some even just for fun, she is not in her right mind and Ceara and Scarlet Briar are different people personality wise, one was a Sylvari sapling bent on deciding her own path while other is a psychopathic tool and puppet used by what ever evil entity is inside her head.
I also think killing her is a bit over top It would be better I f she put on something like house arrest in the grove after all pale tree did little to nothing to help Ceara

They’ll just lock her up for future exposition.

Any plan that involves dead quaggans is, by design, foolproof. I’m an unmitigated genius!

Far as how this new DE goes, just search for the sylvari with the most ridiculous, out of place and “far too manga-inspired for how the rest of the game designs actually are”, and that’s likely the one. If Taimi is any indication. It was already blatant with Rox, got better with Marjory and Kasmeer, and then it just fell down into pitch darkness.

You’re forgetting one key thing, she will go back to being Ceara after awakening ********** from the ruins of L.A. that was the whole point to her plan, confront the entity thats messing with her head and put a end to said madness. it’s made quite clear in her journal. Ceara went into Ommad’s machine and Scarlet Briar came out
