Scarlet's Motives - My thoughts
That would me a very good theory, but she is as mad as a bag of spiders. Granted it might be an act, but I’d believe I more if she was cold and calculating.
Like I said though, good theory.

Those might be the outcomes, but what’s the actual motivation? That she is secretly a good guy looking to help us out by training us?

Her motivation would likely be from her little mental trip during the experiment. They do describe what happened in there a little but not enough to truly explain her sudden change or what she truly learned from that experience.

Oh i would agree she’s mad but as we know with all sylvari
they go through the dream. Each telling them what they would do in the future. I can’t place it, but i remember something about Scarlet’s interaction with an azura who took the “orb thingy” that let you see the future. Stating something about it being interesting and sad that you gave it up.
In addition if what Scarlet saw was the complete destruction of Tyria though corruption wouldn’t you go a little mad..?

That’s the problem with knowing the future. If you try to stop something you could end up causing it. Knowing the future/time travel is always messy. Best not to go there.

Ah the old paradoxical trick… Well as we should know tyria doesn’t like to follow “conventional physics”..? The fractals of the mist is a clear example of it(though it is all time travel backwards). So me stating she saw the future would be an inaccuracy. I would like to reiterate by saying that she saw a future.
why not the jungle dragon she can be his general ?
why not the jungle dragon she can be his general ?
The belief that sylvari are the minions of the jungle dragon is known to me but i like to think that the pale tree is actually a dragon champion like glint or the great destroyer.(more like glint).
Because why would an eldar dragon tasked with the consumption of tyrian magic(along with 5 others) allow the birth of minions that assisted in the defeat of its peers… And the impediment of their mission.
UNLESS its a sneaky ploy to infiltrate the races of tyria and then switch all the sylvari kill bots on their “comrades”… Fun writing but i don’t think all the people who’ve leveled up to 80 on a sylvari wouldn’t be too happy…

maybe there are 2 jungle dragons 1 the pale tree more like glint is good
the second 1 is from the nightmare court and make the normal sylvarie corrupted like the shatter does with charr or jormag with the norn
I suspect scarlet’s motive is whatever might fit as plausibly as possible as post production lump of fudge can be. Her methods, resources and background are not plausible in the lore.
As a dragon general there is too much inconsistency in allies, method and actual achievement, so i believe the real reason for her presense was some brainstorming dev session to try to link together disparate LS themes under one umbrella foe.

Lore brush-up:
Glint isn’t an elder dragon he/she was a dragon champion of Kralkatorrik, the crystal dragon, who turned “good” and helped destiny’s edge. So she’s more like tequatl, the claw of jormag and the shatterer. Secondly not all dragon champions take the shape of dragons…(like the Norn ice born) So with it being a jungle dragon it could have a tree for a champion.
Secondly the nightmare court was formed by sylvari themselves(secondborn Cadeyrn), not by dragon influence. They reject the teaching of Ventari’s tablet( the centaur ten commandments IMO) and accepted the dream of dreams… Which could be like an encoding process for the jungle dragon’s minions.
Huh, you seem to be onto something but i don’t think A-net plans on implementing any answer’s just yet. So the theory you’re making me think is sylvari are actually jungle dragon corrupted. Like the branded, orrian, Iceborn or destroyers… That would also explain the different types of animals between the syvari and nightmare court…
LIGHT YOUR TORCHES. THE GROVE MUST BURN!!!
I’ve been saying this for over a year. Now where’s my cookie?
It was my understanding that fractals allowed you to experience the past, take part in an echo so to speak. Now if she’s seen a possible future, then doing the things she’s doing is not getting anyone ready. And if one of her plans/alliances had not been stopped then we could/would be in a heap of trouble. I think she’s more likely a servant of a dragon. I’m probably wrong, but I think the character feeds in the the serve to be saved. Kind of like Serin from Mass Effect. Thought it better to serve the enemy, than be wiped out by them.
Just a thought, something to mull over.

remember after we are wiped out you will be wiped out 2 because after we are death you don’t have anyone to fight with and you will cost him only energie for nothing so in the end he will kill you 2 he wants his energie
second cookie for saving his life
Do people care anymore about her motives, considering how long we’ve been dragged doing household chores ?

I think the amount of time between living world instances is as much a method of narration for the story, as well as a-net getting time to get the game developed. Like building an army in “real” time behind the scenes.
i think its to work to the next world in other story its like
hey the build an army without us knowing and look he did even did sting attacks to know our weakeness or power he just send an army
i got the feeling they are working to something bigger maybe a way to go over the sea or back to eye of the north maybe

If you ever watch Colin Johansen being interviewed. Whenever Cantha comes up his face changes, he stops looks around and tries to move the interview on. So either its a big hush hush around a-net for a big Canthan expansion… Or they have no real wish to return, due to the fact that A-net has created a “new” world and wish to flush it out. Because the big threats are present in tyria ATM like 3 Elder dragons. Yeah we could return to Cantha to fight bubbles.. But I think that is a long way off.
If you actually took at the timeline set up in the wiki it states that present day Tyria is into a second year AFTER the start of GW2.

To finalize my thoughts… After reading the short story…
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/short-story-what-scarlet-saw/
I have come to the belief that Scarlet has seen as best to describe everything she has seen the dragons the endless workings of Tyria. So with this knowledge she seems to want to save tyria… Like create a massive “mech” able to kill a dragon..? Unfortunately the entire world will be destroyed in her attempt to save it…
So to sum up Scarlet is a neutral character with good intentions, however no morals and only results matter to her.
Scarlet saw the Sylvari’s creation/engineering/manipulation by those who invented ‘Cerebro’ (under Caledon), and there was nothing natural about it?
i still think the jungle dragon is involved with her
i told you so the little ausura told that i’m right she 2 thinks the dragon is involved

i called it months ago, so have others.
I think that by the end of the season we’ll watch a cutscene showing something inside the Eternal Alchemy, either when she first saw it or the Eternal Alchemy reclaiming the knowledge once given to her.
LS S01 Finale: Rise of some Elder Dragon, prelude to new Personal Story arch. New features and patches when new playable regions are introduced. … There IS an expansion pack coming in a form of living story updates. New elder dragon MUST rise soon. It is the main motif of the game.
the jungle dragon than
reasons: they grew a plant
sylvary
jungle wurms
i start to think that she is going to make her own machanical dragon
controlled by her
+1 crossbread dragon
She’s going to capture whoever made the Steam creatures down below Lion’s Arch.
The Steam things aren’t her initial creation. She’s just modified stuff from other people here and there.
