Scarlets room already ready for a year
i agree op there was so much lack of knowledge and understanding in season one they could have dont it better back then but maybe this is the way they intend to go forward after learning from their mistakes which in my book shows promise on a decent season 2
I think it is a rather important thing that it actually takes place where it does. And therefore that is the reason as to why it takes place there.

They did say towards the conclusion of Season 1 that through developing Season 2 they learned a lot and planned on working harder for the following Seasonal updates. I’m ok with this, personally.
We found her base during the “The Orgins of Madness” episode and did not really find anything in it except for some boxes which gave you loot and a chance for a miniature.
Ehrm… and a ton of clues on her plans, a diagram showing the various alliances she considered, plans for the giant drill, plans for the twisted marionette, a map with her drilling locations, a diagram for a flying Dolyak, a giant painting of a dragon on the ceiling and a clue that she would attack Lion’s Arch.

Season 2 might involve tracking Scarlet back through the Maguuma zones and filling in the gaps in her story. If we’d been told everything in season 1 there might be nothing to do. Even so, season 1 shouldn’t have left all the characters looking so stupid for not even seeing the plot holes.
Actually, it makes sense to me.
The room in Dry Top is full of things from when she was a student. Lots of things that were unnecessary to her to bring along with her to Lornar’s Pass. It’d be kind of silly if she did bring along everything to her new hideout for no reason other than sentimentality.
The fact that everything is still there also suggests an element of urgency in her plans. Whether she just wanted to do it quickly or felt forced to do it quickly, she didn’t take the time to pack things up or get rid of them. She just left them there. She took only what she needed.
Metaphorically speaking, it also indicates a severance from her past. These are things from her early years. Things she doesn’t care for or need. They’re things from a previous life, which she is distancing herself from, along with her name change. As Darth Vader distanced himself from Anakin Skywalker, so did Scarlet Briar distance herself from Ceara.
although i think it’s alright to develop the scarlet character.. i’m starting to wonder if arena net is playing with a full deck of cards.. i won’t dispute that the ceara room was entertaining, because it was.. but to be quite honest, the DE2.0 voice actors are rather talented and this could have been pulled off in Any scenario.. the sad thing is, arena net seems to be knit picking on their pet projects.. i’d bet a legendary {if i had one} that if we were pressing into far shiverpeaks territory in pursuit of Jormag, We Would have Found a Scarlet Lair there too… now i am not one to rush brilliance, but the epic living world we’ve been following, which should have taken 2 weeks of collaborative writing, has taken us 18 months to unravel.. where is the other 78 weeks worth of lore which should have been implemented along side living story?
anyway, as for the thread title.. it isn’t the first time i’ve heard we know the story a Year in advance ..taking things like that into consideration along with what i’ve typed above leaves me deeply concerned with the progression of this ’m’mo
I doubt we would have seen a lair of Ceara/Scarlet in FS, seeing as it is most likely EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that she had a lair in an area rather close to where Mordremoth slept.

Given how they stuffed her into the Thaumanova reactor fractal, I have no doubt that if this was taking place in FS instead of Maguuma Wastes, she would have been up there too.

But how was she stuffed in?
We KNEW that she was working with the Inquest at some point.
We KNEW that the Inquest had a “new consultant” prior to the disaster.
The fact that the leyline went straight through the Reactor would also give her a rather large reason to be there.
But sure, lets ignore all the logical reasons for her being there

Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of Scarlet but harking on her for silly reasons is a waste of time to me. I actually like how they brought her into this Episode… so to speak. Looking forward to more backstory as long as it it doesn’t shaft the progression of the present.
As someone else already pointed out Scarlet’s lair in Lornar’s Pass included a lot of hints about both her past and future plans.
The only real change here is that Anet have realised that they have to force players to pay attention to the lore by not allowing them to progress until they have in order for most people to even realise it’s there. Even then I guarantee you some peoples attitude was to realise the instance is all dialogue and click through it as quickly as possible whilst paying attention to something else.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I’ll also point out that in the Killing Scarlet instance at the end of S1, Kasmeer taunts Scarlet by calling her Ceara, which annoys her deeply, and she screams to not call her that.
She clearly abhors her past, which means she’s unlikely to carry lots of things around with her, especially things that are unnecessary.
