Seraph Guards with a new weapon?
I’ll have to keep an eye out for the animations – still, as much as I’d like to see polearms, my guess would be a staff skin intended for martial staff users. An entirely new weapon type seems like it’d be a big addition. Maybe not too big for the next expansion, but I’m not going to hold my breath…
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Right now it seems like they have (most likely) a staff or greatsword skin, and the guardian greatsword animations. Though … I suspect that NPC assembly is not tied to the same rules as players are, so you could assign a suitably animated skin with any weapon skill combo…
The only confirmed so far is that the weapon skin is new(feel free to correct me but a guildmate and I did check for it and came up with nothing). Also unique knockback attack though that could just be solely for NPCs as SlippyCheeze said.
That being said I still doubt it’s an entirely new weapon so not holding my breath on that either, at most I would say a staff skin or a subtle hint at warriors being able to use a staff as a melee weapon in a future xpac, because even though it might be nothing I still remember when NPC Necros could use greatswords before Heart of Thorns came out.

Yea that’s what we’re talking about, it was the very first thing I noticed when I started the new map.

Is that a Halbeard?
Makes me think more of a partisan, albeit with one larger side-blade rather than a smaller one on each side. Possibly a midway point, but I wouldn’t call anything a “halberd” with such a large spear-point and no back-hook.
Apart from the lack of a back-hook, though, I’d imagine that it’s used in a similar manner to a halberd.

the gs4 on guardians works so god kitten well here
oh i want halberds to come into the game kitten spears halderds is where its at ^^
I noted this on a watchknight when I was roaming about in the first instance before departing once the story step was complete.
Pretty sure the watchknights had those since they first appeared… and up to now they generally used them as mesmer staves. :P
Mind you, even making that skin available to players as a staff would probably be welcome for thieves and revenants.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure. But if polearms are introduced, that’s a fine skin for one.
They are somehow Ascalonian weapon, though that weapon havent been shown in the concept art or in-game before.
Im hoping for a new weapon elite spec!!
Looks awesome.
