Shadowstone - Should I give it now or wait?
As of yet, the choice has no impact on any story. To be honest it probably wont either, since if it had any significant impact on anything, the game would be making it a part of the story journal and guiding players through. As of now, I suspect a great deal of players prob don’t even know about the quest, since it is a hidden achievement.
What it may impact is a future current event, taking into account the wider number of shadowstones handed in to either faction by the entire population.
Choose whichever you think your character would give it to I’d say.

There definitely isn’t going to be any future achievements you’ll get locked out from. The only actual risk is not turning it in at all, because there’s no guarantee that the current events will last forever, though they probably will.
If the stone is used again, it will certainly be available from a vendor.
If you turn it in to the Priory you don’t really “get” anything. If you turn it into the Consortium you gain access to cheap garbage that isn’t worth having at half the price. So, it’s up to you. Personally, I get the feeling that the Shadowstone is directly connected to the Bloodstone storyline, that if you give it to the Priory you’re actually giving it to the White Mantle.

I think it may have some effect. The krait oil gets much pricier if you don’t give it to the Consortium and I had the impression from player comments at the time I did the chain that giving it to the Priory would make it still possible for you to turn into an anomaly by the right sort of jumping near a rift.
ANet doesn’t tend to make huge differences based on story choices, though, they always bring it back to the same overall linear narrative. And I really don’t think they’d do a permanent account effect without warning the players of the consequences of choosing one over the other, the backlash would be huge.
So let your RP be the guide. Would your character help the Consortium in any way? Does your character mistrust the Priory? What “fits” for your image of the PC?

I don’t know, this Priory versus Consortium thing has been a fairly major part of Current Events. There was choosing a side for ley-line coalescences. There was choosing a side for handing in those ley-line things that were in BL chests briefly. Now this?
Besides, the only good the Consortium has ever done was rebuild LA, and I’m unsure even of why they’d do that. Even if the Priory is corrupt somehow, I don’t know how they’d gain from letting you keep the shadowstone…

That’s no mystery. They’re a mercantile association, chasing the almighty gold piece. They did it because it was good money.
The wiki says “After completing this achievement, the anomaly model for the player changes when standing in the Mystic Forge. The new anomaly is race-specific and is different depending if the player chooses the Consortium or Priory.”
Someone knows the details? How are the models different?
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

They’re different colors. Priory has a red core, while Consortium is blue, possibly referencing Primordius vs Jormag. It would basically mean that they used dragon imbued magic to fix the problem, and now you’re infused with it. It’ll probably end up being nothing important, but it could be a way to vote or worst case, determine your faction.
Since the only Mystic Forge I ever use is the one in Divinity’s Reach, I didn’t even know about this up until now! What was the effect before you received the “cure”?
Before getting the ‘cure’ you appear like the Thaumanova/Chaos/Ley-Line Anomalies.
On an aside, I hope this isn’t some sort of ‘faction determination’ unless it’s specifically Priory vs Consortium.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
