So, wintersday has a lot of love from everyone, and there’s some things I want to request from it (maybe I’m too late..)

1) Tixx’s Infinarium and -Toypocalypse- instances to be enterable with a group. Playing with randoms is fine, but sometimes you wanna have fun with guildies, and go the long bout.

2) Guild Hall Ring-a-bell: Bell Choir Ensamble is always one of our favourites. We often compete in this instance with the guildies, even though its a lot of effort if not impossible to get on the same instance. What we wanted was a version (without the rewards of course) for the guild hall, where we can compete against each other (and hopefully even) make our own songs for this minigame.

3) Now that we’ve entered the cold north (definitely too late this year) can we get to Snowman’s Lair?

Snowmans lair would have needed to have been designed a while ago for them to have put it in. With 3 working days until wintersday, there wont be any changes to the festival not already set in stone.

I like the choir bell idea tho

Looks like changes to party grouping for Tix and Toypocalypse won’t be available this year.

Hey guys. We wanted to let you know that unfortunately, changes to grouping in Toypocalypse won’t be possible right now. We spent time investigating ways this could be changed, and we are still investigating options that we hope will remedy this in a future Wintersday festival.

This is the reason previously given as to why Tix and Toypocalypse don’t have parties.

After the 2013 Toypocalypse there were changes to the game that broke the underlying functionality for Toypocalypse. For 2014 the team was trying to fix the bug (and really, they went up past the absolute last second to try and fix it) but ultimately had to decide between the activity working or being cut – it was that unplayable. It wasn’t a lightly made decision, especially since it had worked the year before and players liked it.

The team would still like to fix it but it isn’t a simple switch or anything. Reverting the change would break significant other parts of the game.

Soo…. I would rather queue with friends too, but I’d also like to be able to do the activity. It’s a rough tossup.

I just heard from the team about this, and it is an unfortunate but intended change. The alteration came about because code changes were required in order to stabilize PvP and some Instance Activities. According to one of our lead designers, the change cannot be revisited for this year’s release. Thanks for your understanding concerning this necessary adjustment.

Bottom line: This was not a “choice.” This was not a decision made without thought, or carelessly, or in error. This was a necessary change that stabilized the game, for both PvP and Activities.
We understand that you would have preferred that this change not be made, but the cost of not making this change was too significant to let it slide. The change was necessary and as much as we regret any dissatisfaction that you may feel in relation to it, according to the designers it must remain in this state for this year’s release.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

It may be misery not to sing at all,
And to go silent through the brimming day;
It may be misery never to be loved,
But deeper griefs than these beset the way.

To sing the perfect song,
And by a half-tone lost the key,
There the potent sorrow, there the grief,
The pale, sad staring of Life’s Tragedy.

To have come near to the perfect love,
Not the hot passion of untempered youth,
But that which lies aside its vanity,
And gives, for thy trusting worship, truth.

This, this indeed is to be accursed,
For if we mortals love, or if we sing,
We count our joys not by what we have,
But by what kept us from that perfect thing.

For we know our many friends,
And in toypocalypse do them not greet.
Together forever, with them in chat, and speech,
Though longing there, in toypocalypse, them to do not meet.
