So....Caithe...(SPOILERS!!!)
It’s a typical cliffhanger and she will explain it the next time. I don’t believe it was a disguise or an influence of whatever or crazyness à la Scarlet. No, it will be quite simple. Who cares anyway, we will see in 1.5 weeks.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
What I think has happened is she steals the egg knowing the Pale Tree will die and is heading towards Magus Falls to use it to protect the 2nd Pale Tree rumored to be there.
She is obviously not insane, and thus is not corrupted by Mordremoth (we know she cant be corrupted in the first place, as both the nightmare court and the pale tree are immune, only the soundless can be taken), and that she does not sound evil, and feels it is important to tell us, ‘there is not time to explain’ means she still cares about how we view her, which in turn means she is not evil, if perhaps harboring twisted and complex reasons, still has good intentions, so I do not feel she is deep in the nightmare either.
Which, is why elegance to a third, yet unknown party, such as the highly referenced but mysterious Mr. E, seems the most likely cause for her action. Likely the next episode will reveal a lot about what can be done with the egg, and why she feels it must be done.
Also, in ‘Tracking the Aspect Masters’ there is a mysterious stranger watching us, Mr. E himself, perhaps?
I have a theory about Caithe that at first I was just kidding about, but now give it slightly more credence. Caithe found the other pale tree in her travels and has become a double agent actually working for the other pale tree. That tree has need of Glint’s egg, or Caithe thinks it will benefit the new tree and so is getting it for him/her.
Well here’s the teaser image from todays POI. Can’t remember exactly what Faolin looked like, but it might be her on the right, with Caithe being on the left.

Please give us a keyring…
I’m not sure what we really see here. If it’s Caithe on the left, she has different hair and generally looks different. The Sylvari on the right might indeed be Faolain.
But maybe it’s a flashback where we see Caithe and Faolain years ago or sth.
Edit: By the way, this picture was taken at the Inner Inquest Complex in Metrica Province. It’s a secret Inquest lab in the north east of the area.

I bet it is some kind of vision from the past. To me, it is obviously Caithe and Faolain on the picture, but their outfits look kinda different, more subtle. The picture has some blurry filter applied to it, which adds to a “vision” thing. A-a-and I just realized that I repeat a post above. Though I must add that during one of the asura storylines you encounter a sylvari “test subject” or simply a slave to some Inquest goon in that exact spot, in that exact cage behind the golem.
So another reason I don’t think the reason caithe stole the egg for the nightmare court, is that scarlet said, “I know something about you that faolain doesn’t,” which hints that there is some other secret propelling her.
Great, 1 more reason to pump her full of lead. If this means she is working together with the Inquest the egg is already lost. We all know about their experiments with the dragons corruption.
Something that i see a lot of people haven’t noticed since the last LS.
Caithe’s Blossom (the ascended accessory u get from the previous LS) has this quote under it: “I’m done with your games, and I’m finished with you. I am not your dearheart.”I don’t think it’s related to Faolin. I think it’s related to the Pale Tree. This is what made me expect something bad from her ever since the last LS..but i wasn’t expecting it this fast.
Anyway….kids…what did we learn from GW2 today? Preemptive deforestation is a good thing! <and the kids go yaaaaay>
Um… the flavour text on that ring is taken from TA story… Word for word…
After defeating Faolain:
Caithe: End this charade now, Faolain.
Faolain: But dearheart, you used to enjoy our little games of make-believe.
Caithe: I’m done with your games, and I’m finished with you. I am not your dearheart.
Faolain: We shall see, dearheart. We shall see. (laughs)

Edit: After seeing the PoI image, maybe it’s hinting to look at the dialogue in TA? More backstory for Caithe/Faolain when we go to talk to the pale tree?
“Caithe: “When our race was new, we travelled together, her and I. We became close.
Caithe: We found a great darkness. I pulled back from it. Faolain embraced it.”
Also, I’m not really an expert on Asura models, but doesn’t the asura in the PoI preview look like Emissary Vorpp? I’m really not sure if that model is shared though….

To be perfectly honest, I think Caithe was craving an omelet.
Forget omlet. She was craving a Cadbury egg!
Even better: Caithe is looking for a Wintersday gift for her precious Faolain.
I never did believe what she said about dumping the Nightmare leader.

We’ve been hoodwinked — again! Just like the ‘heroes’ of yore two and a half centuries before, today’s heroes are heck-bent on messing it all up for everyone! Fighting for the wrong side. Let me explain.
The dragons are the good guys, see, trying to save Tyria from the Pale Tree. They awaken every time a new Tree takes root and begins to grow, but their awakening was delayed this time around by the kindly but misguided deeds of Ronan and Ventari, whose saintly goodness shielded the budding Tree with a protective aura of benevolence.
Scarlet realized the truth and it pushed her over the proverbial edge (with a little help from her personal nemesis, Caithe), but even so she kept sight of what was important and fought valiantly to render Tyria Tree Free, even though it would mean the end of her race.
The Master of Peas, although infected by the mind control spores of the Pale Tree (courtesy of Aerin), was trying desperately to get Glint’s egg (aka the Ultimate Fertilizer) to Ol’ Mordy, where it would be safe from the Pale Tree’s clutching branches. He might have gotten away with it, too, if not for the meddling of the big brave viewpoint heroes and their friends, swooping in to save the day and in the process agitating Ol Mordy’s minions to the point where they accidentally injured the ally they’d been sent to escort and protect!
For good or ill, the incompetent, careless bumbling of the heroes didn’t end there, but provided Caithe with the opportunity to abscond with Glint’s egg. But what will she do with it? Is she a hero, or a villain — or both!
I personally believe that, following Scarlet’s untimely (and heartwood-breaking) demise, Caithe, plagued by a guilty conscience, has been reviewing the situation and is now not only ashamed (and rightly so) of all those times she tormented poor nerdy free-spirited Ceara, but has become convinced that Ceara was the greatest, most heroic nut ever to fall from a tree, and so she (Caithe) is attempting to make amends by defying the Will of Mommy Dearest. I personally believe she is taking the egg out of the immediate picture, not to O’ Mordy, but to the other enemies of the Pale Tree — the Nightmare Court!
Alas! Contaminated by repeated exposure to bumbling heroes, Caithe is now herself irreversibly incompetent, and does not realize that while the Nightmare Court does indeed oppose the Pale Tree, their plan to corrupt the Pale Tree has been abandoned in favor of a new plan, the Newly Pollinated Evil plan, which, if successful, will replace the Pale Tree with a Dark Tree of their own cultivating! A plan which has heretofore been naught but a dream without a dreamer left to dream, for lo, though they have after great trial and error managed to acquire a Tree seed (alas, poor Malyck), they lacked the means whereby to coax it into sprouting…
…which Caithe is unwittingly about to provide by bringing them Glint’s egg — the Ultimate Fertilizer!
Dark Days are coming to Tyria, forum friends. Dark Days indeed. Guild Wars? Bah. Petty playground squabbles compared to…
The Tree Wars!
PS: On the bright side, just as Marjory is unlocking greatsword skills for necros, Caithe is unlocking pets for Thieves. Thiefs?
To be perfectly honest, I think Caithe was craving an omelet.
cooking 500 confirmed.
Whether Caithe’s motives were good or not, my initial reaction was, and I quote: “Okay… But I still don’t care, I trust her way more than the rest of those yokels.”
Caithe has always fought squarely against the elder dragons. I don’t believe that she has switched sides.
To be perfectly honest, I think Caithe was craving an omelet.

Caesar salad for sure. Lettuce, egg and to top it off a bit of backstabbing.
i found something that i was omg why did the queen already no about caithe
SPOILER
if you play human story around lvl 40 you must protect the queen from kellech maby i spell his name wrong
when your done speak to the queen and she says this see pic
so that means even long before the living story Queen already no much about caithe
so what no the queen that we don’t no ??
Just a comment in Caithe’s favour…. If I were teamed up with a human that ran off in the thick of it; a charr that sulked eternally for the human running away; an asura who blamed everything on the norn; and the norn that lost their confidence…..and then I spent AGES trying in vain to get them over their issues to actually save the world from ANOTHER dragon (to which they STILL whined and argued about issues), I too would take the kitten egg and sort things out myself.
Caithe probably looked at our team of yet more charr, norn and humans and thought “Oh man…. this is going to take ages to get this egg to the right place.”
I also don’t think she killed the Master of Peace. You would think your character or Kasmeer or someone would have said, “Oh my god! Caithe murdered the Master of Peace!”
My suspicion is that we might actually have needed Scarlet alive. That there is a bigger picture we’re not yet aware of. Who knows.
From the new trailer it looks like Faolin has a buddy who’s found a way to make herself look like Caithe and it wasn’t Caithe at all. To me at least.
EDIT: Though others seem to think its the PC
Caithe taking the egg makes perfect sense.
How do you hide such a thing and prevent your enemy from getting it? by hiding it from your allies too who are trying to find it also. If you know there is a spy what do you do? Get your most trusted, secretive ally to help. Prevent all enemy and friend from knowing anything. The enemy would follow the allies to find that thing you want to protect. Caithe not saying anything and no time to explain simply means she will be the only one to be able to hide the egg from ALL. only she will know. It is her Wylde hunt. She does not kill the master of peace at all but rather knowing he was about to die and the rest distracted by eagerly waiting to hear what he was going to say she snook in there at the most opportune time to take the egg. At any other time she would be prevented from doing so so easily. This is exactly what i would do given the fact Mordremoth and his mob would follow you to prevent the security of the egg from developing in peace. Caithe has an uncanny ability of making sure no-one knows where she is. It is the perfect strategy for the preservation of the egg and to make sure it does NOT fall into the wrong hands. If only she knows then if she dies she takes the secret location details with her.
to sum up.
To prevent the enemy from finding out especially with spies is to not allow your allies to even know preventing any spy or information accidentally leaking out. Protecting the egg and everyone else in the process.
DO NOT think Caithe is bad. Think carefully. It is the most logical move for any tactician. A thief is great for this role and the best thief is the most perfect to carry out the role unlike any other class. It also stops arguments between the orders as what to do.

If this is her motivation, her logic is very flawed. Regardless of intent, she seems smart enough to know that we would not give up on the egg so easily. Even if she says it is all for the better (and her being Sylvari doesn’t help given that race’s current reputation). She should also know that her own allies in Destinies Edge won’t sit idle either. Furthermore, if the egg is hidden from everybody, nobody will be able to use it (for good or ill).
So, the logical conclusion is that the PC and all the primary NPCs will be looking for the egg. This will cause suspicious behavior that Mordemoth will pick up on and thus allow his servants to track. Had she not taken the egg, it could have been secured quietly. As it is, there is going to be a ruccus that will alert the enemy as well as delay the allies.
I guess we’ll find that out tonight, but thinking on the teaser image we got from PoI…
We’ve had a personal story chapter from Asura in the Inquest Inner Complex, in that same room, and involving a Sylvari. Remember Peredur ?
So, just something I’ve remembered from that room. Not sure If that will be related.
In the instance you would be stuck in the prison at the center of the room and Peredur would help you get out.
Maybe the “real” Caithe is imprisoned there now? -maybe-
Or now will they place the egg within the prison? We’ll see.
Just funny I haven’t seen anyone remember that instance here in the forums.
@Genlog: Nice remark, I didnt remember that.
So tonight we’ll see. Can’t wait for the update.

Gah sorry! By “tonight” I should have been more clear I was referring to the trailer.
I think it clarifies some of what we’ll see next chapter. A flashback of Caithe’s past perhaps?
Clearly Caithe just wants a really big omelette
Guys, if you payed attention in season 1, you would have noticed the clues. Caithe is obviously Zhaitan.
My bet is that Caithe is taking it someplace to where the child can be hatched quickly, or she’s attempting to bring it back to the Pale Tree so it can gain her knowledge. The Pale Tree seems to know everything, and if the egg hatches and gains her knowledge, it may gain the exact thing it needs to become an ally. It makes sense, especially if the Pale Tree told Caithe everything was going to happen. After all, the Pale Tree has one hell of a Poker Face.
