So Scarlet is our personal nemesis?
Yeah. You might’ve noticed in the nightmare chambers that Scarlet uses your character’s past against you while you’re hallucinating (visions of Seiran, Tybalt, etc), to mess with your mind.
I actually thought this was a clever method of storytelling. But moments of cleverness don’t compensate for the awkwardness of the whole event, and the weakness of Scarlet as a villain. I wish things like this would be implemented into a proper expansion instead of a two-week grindfest.
“Aside from the Living Story main characters, we’ll also be surprising you with interesting villains, one of whom will become your personal nemesis. "
In my opinion we’re still barely on that first part, but we haven’t even reached the second.
So if you want her to be your nemesis, have fun, but I’m waiting for a better one.
Also Scarlet isn’t our personal nemesis. She barely notices the player character. She just sees Tyria as a whole. Scarlet attacks Tyria, not my character, so personal nemesis doesn’t fit here. I guess meeting your personal nemesis refers to you finally being able to whoop Trahearne’s leafy hindquarters in the chambers.

So she has not been confirmed to be our personal nemesis?
Your link is from almost a year ago (February of 2013) — are they ever going to get to the identity of this personal nemesis?

I think they mean to keep this vague so folks, in a perfect world, could pick and choose who they wanted.
However since this was Angel McCoy who wrote it chances are she was alluding to Scarlet being our nemesis.
With the latest backlash from some of our player base, I’ll doubt they will flat out say “This person is your nemesis”. At least I hope not, because that would be downright folly. Some folks might like Canach over Scarlet, others Scarlet over Canach, and folks like me might choose whoever is the next baddie in the future.
Neither Canach or Scarlet have had any kind of impact on me…literally a flawless 0. They bring nothing (both of them) that would make me ever consider thinking “wow…this guy again i wonder what he/she will do next, last time was awesome”. Both (especially Scarlet) were boring, no rememberable events and annoying as hell.
Annoying =/= evil. Just someone who u want to get rid off so u can see of your day to day job. It’s like meeting someone on the street that annoys u with his pressence and dunno how to get rid of him.
This whole Scarlet arc was a major disapointment to me specially coming from GW1. I can’t recall 1 evil character in GW1 that wasn’t memorable in his own way or interesting. Scarlet is the equivalent of an agro Moa…u just want to run away as far as possible till it deagros and u can run faster again. Nothing more.

But the personal nemesis is not a state-of-mind thing, it’s someone the storyline is supposed to revolve around. We haven’t even heard a word about Canach for months and months, so unless Anet is choosing to move at a glacial pace, I don’t think it’s him.
If it’s someone we already knew as of that announcement, it couldn’t be Scarlet. As I predominantly play humans my mind goes to Countess Anise (though I prefer her as a Crown loyalist who will do anything to support Jennah) or Lord Faren (who could have been behind a lot of things while presenting a bumbling facade, and has a close friendship with my noble characters to boot).
However, if it’s one person who’s to be the nemesis of every single player character, it can’t be from inside the racial chapter of the PS. Which leaves Order representatives who aren’t our mentors (because there are three mentor choices), or Trahearne. The latter makes no sense at all, no stretch of his story arc turns him into a world-wrecking machiavellian.
Hopefully it will be an omigosh wow! revelation and not just Scarlet who somehow our characters knew about all these years but we did not.
Maybe it’s Palawa Joko? I’m not a GW1 player, so I’m just going on what other fans have said about how cool he was.

If it’s any of these people, that means we’ve gone 9 months (since the announcement) without any hint of who it actually is. I’m beginning to think they meant Scarlet.

lol, yeah I’m waiting to.

I’m afraid you’re right. Consider the following quote:
Again, no spoilers allowed, so I can’t tell you more than that, but you’ll recognize this sassy character when you see…um, him/her/it. <grin>
That was from Angel McCoy, Scarlet’s creator, and was said during the Flame and Frost story. It’s painfully (very very painful, unfortunately) clear that she was talking about her dear Mary Scarlet Sue.
I would call this disappointing, but that point was hit a few months ago.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Hopefully they pretend it isn’t her and someone less crappy appears as our personal nemesis. I need Scarlet to disappear and not become a reoccurring nuisance.
When they say someone we have already met, i’m assuming they mean someone our characters have already met. So it’s not scarlet, we hadn’t met her until she showed up for the jubilee.
It will be the same person for everyone so it will be someone from the PS that everyone has met. So that leaves 3 choices. It’s either one of the order’s commanders that we met retaking claw island, one of the DE members, or Treherne.
And I hear Caithe has a secret…
