So what happened to the restart motes?
The only reason I could tolerate the LW2 achievements to get the luminescent skins was that reset motes existed for when I screwed up for the umpteenth time.
If you exit LS3 instances and return (starting them with the same toon), you’ll be back after the last major encounter you completed. It’s not as convenient as an in-instance restart option, but it works.
I would have preferred being returned to just before the next big encounter (instead of after the last one completed), to avoid going through all the dialogue and waiting in between.

Even though I completed Henge of Denravi, when I exited the story at the “Fearless” fight I re-entered at the oath / throwing stones part and had to do Henge again. Over and over again.
Unless they fixed that recently.
That doesn’t seem to work with Frozen Out. Each time you have to kill the svanir, twice, then the wolves, three times (or is it four?), then the spiders, three times. Just to go up against the big beast, get frozen and start all over again.

Unsurprisingly, it’s inconsistent whether it’s a challenge mote or F12 to return to same spot :/

That one is more towards the convenience of being DC’d and not having to do the whole thing again.
Reset motes are more for redoing challenges. It’s so annoying even if there’s a small cutscene. I’m just surprised why they took that out when previous LS have that.
Better question:
What happened to challenge motes? Even in HoT, there was only one. I really enjoyed making fights more difficult (because unlike most players on the forums it seems I’m actually competent – take the E4 Caudecus fight… I found no issue with it pre-nerf, at all). Only thing I disliked about them in S2 was the need to complete the instance on that particular character (rather than by just any character) unlike the one HoT challenge mote.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I wish there were checkpoints for some of the chapters… so when you DCed on one of the longer ones, you won’t have to restart the entire FRIGGIN CHAPTER
