Hi, I was doing my personal stories solo, as always, and everything was fine until I got to the Second Phase of The Mystery Cave chapter. I was with my warrior at the time so I could have been there forever without dying but the thing is that every time I got 3 spots light up darned Rox takes forever to throw the circle to light the fourth spot.

So I tried like for 25 minutes and every time the circle came too late. I figure that with 2 players this challenge should be possible, but if so, it means is a party-required quest, so why not announce it like this?

I remember the last part of the basic personal story where one had to complete a dungeon in Arah, I did not like the fact that it was party-required mission but at least it was possible to gather a team since many people needed the quest. But not in this case, there is nobody around to party in order to complete this.

So, I’m unable to complete this with any of my characters. Does anyone have this issue? Can this be considered a bug?

Conski answered this flawlessly. There is no part in the living story you cannot do alone. Please try his advice with killing a shadow instead of lighting a quarter and see where that gets you.

When you get to the second time lighting the full circle, you have to kill the shadows that spawn using the fire buff or you won’t be able to light all four without them putting one out.
Depending on your speed and the fire timer you may have to choose to kill a shadow instead of lighting a quarter.

All parts of the LS2 are solo-able.

If this is not the issue, could you provide more information as to exactly when the problem is occurring?

I don’t think that is the OP’s problem in this case. Sargento says that s/he gets 3 parts of the circle complete, whereas I could barely get half before the shadow monsters eat it. So I think he knows about the shadow beasts, and if he doesn’t, then he’s been faster moving than I was. The trouble seems to be lining up to get the last flame before it gets extinguished. All I can suggest is keep moving around, have the camera always pointed inwards and watch for that glowy flame circle. I know you can do it, I have faith in you. Defeat that dragon champion!

What Conski said. I had the same problem the first time I did this event. I had no idea the shadows were dousing the flames I ignited.

All you have to do is kill the ones that spawn after the torch is thrown. Should be a walk after that.

You need 3 abilities simultaneously. (1) running from divine torch bubble to divine flame. (2) running avoiding red danger zone. (3) aim and one-hit kill black shadow monster to stop him killing the divine flame.

(1) and (2) goes together.

(3) the best way to one-hit kill black shadow monster is to use any large area of effect ground targeting attack. The black shadow monster has very low health point and can be killed by any hit just once. However you can only kill black shadow monster only when you have acquired the divine torch bubble. Otherwise the black shadow monster is extremely hard to kill.

You also need to be pretty much lag-free, which on the euro servers is seemingly impossible for Anet to get handled, even after months. I am in the US, too.

A good tip is to shoot the shadows with a ranged weapon from inside the fire, so you get the buff again after you use it up.
