First off I’d like to say I’ve loved the second living story thus far. The content’s been great, the story’s been even better, and you’re bringing elements from the last story and even gw1 which has made me doubly excited to see what’s next. Furthermore, I’m having that whole game of thrones feeling when the episode ends and I scream out into the sky “NOOOO HOW COULD YOU END IT THERE?!”

The only critique I have for you is on Balinda’s death. For the future when you want to kill off a character, please give us time to be emotionally invested into them. If you just kill them off on the second episode when they were introduced into the first… the audience doesn’t have the gasp reaction I think you’re looking for.

I mentioned in another thread I don’t think we’re supposed to care about Belinda, but rather care about Marjory.

At any rate, thinking about it I actually really like it if there is no rhythm to when people die. If anyone can go at any time (similar to your Game of Thrones reference) it really keeps you guessing. I mean we all knew she was going to die, but what if when she first showed up in S2, half way through her saying “oh hey Jory!” she just got ripped in to quarters by a vine. That would be completely unexpected. Some characters can died after we’re invested in them, some die completely unexpectedly. But all men must die.

I wasn’t expecting her to die. ;-;

I was actually really sad when she did!

I disagree with deaths having to only occur with main character. Look at GoT and the countless deaths of supporting actors. For example
[MINOR SPOILER SEASON 1/BOOK 1 SPOILER]

A captain of the guard and friend of Ned Stark (Jory Cassell) getting impaled in the eye by Jaime. It may seem like an innocent death, but it was in response for the kidnapping and for sure affected Ned with regret.

With Ms. Deliqua, I think we’ll find her to live with regret that she wasn’t there to defend her. It may also open up more for us to know about her as a character, as we may speculate that she may use her necro powers to make Belinda Zombie (ok maybe that’s farfetched)

That’s actually one of my gripes with her death. We didn’t see it happened, she just went from alive to dead in 5 minutes.

It would have been a bit more emotional seeing her torn apart by vines in real-time…

This is true, but they could have gotten a bit more out of us if ontop of feeling kinship with jory we could have also felt something for her death.

In this regard (and I do hope this gets added) I realy missed having some sort of dialog in the end. I mean, most of the group see me as the leader of sorts. Shouldn’t I have to say some lines to both of them. If only:

@Marjory
- I am sorry for your loss, take all the time you need.

  • ty for your concern I will, I will join you there when I’m ready

@Kasmeer
- I am sorry for your loss as well.

  • yes this is horrible, her sister, I can’t emagine…
    - Yes me neither, we should give her all the time she needs.
  • I should go with her, shouldn’t I ?
    - Well you heard what she said, and if this is a forebode of what is to come we will need everybody.
  • Yes, NO… well yes, you are probably right. And Marjory is right too… ohw poor Balinda, poor Marjory.
    - Hang in there we will need you.
We are peace, we are war. We are how we treat each other and nothing more…

In response to your post, you have inspired me to add something of my own for Kasmeer:

You: What should I do? Should I talk to her?

Kasmeer: Don’t take this the wrong way Boss (or insert your name for a moment of connection), but there’s no way for you to understand what she’s going through.

Option 1: Let it go

You: Kas. Do you really believe that?

Kasmeer: Look, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for that to sound so… it’s just that… I don’t even know how to help her so why would… you know.

You: …

Kasmeer: …

Option 2: Honour Jory’s wishes.

You: Kas. All this time and you still don’t know me… shakes head sadly But this isn’t about me today or you. You can’t wave a hand here and it’ll suddenly be better. Because something like this CAN NEVER be better.

Kasmeer: You sound like you…

You: I don’t want to talk about him/her.

pause

It doesn’t always get better.

Kasmeer: I’m sorry.

You: Don’t be. Lets just say sometimes you have to smile and laugh even though it kills you inside. She knows you love her… when she’s ready, she’ll let you know.

Option 3: Refer to Orr/Claw Island

You: Kas. Do you honestly believe that I have never lost anyone important to me?

Kasmeer: You? I can’t see the “Commander” as losing anything. Afterall, you were Trahearne’s right hand at Orr. Someone like that is…

You: Tough?

Kasmeer: Yeah and strong and…

You: Alone.

Kasmeer: Boss I…

pause

You: I wasn’t always Trahearne’s second you know. I was also at Claw Island when the attack came. I lost… pause ..my best friend. I couldn’t save him. Couldn’t save a lot of people….

Kasmeer: I… I didn’t know. I shouldn’t have shot my mouth off- I didn’t know.

You: Kas, it’s okay, it’s understandable. I just want you to know that I understand what she’s going through. … more than you know.
