After seeing the trailer for October 1st update I just felt sick. Sick of the game and how we are treated like we have no clue and are mindless wallets. So the next patch is something about Scarlet (the all of a sudden villain we heard nothing about until it was convenient) attacking the Sylvari. The same old Aetherblades with the same old Story where Scarlet does something bad, we are “requested” to help and then without a dent she runs away.

Sick of these Living story patches that does not even give much credit to our characters. Sick of the living story coming inside the mail and not in the cut scene (lazy). Sick of getting content that is frustrating, boring, stale or all of the above.

Out of the last few months of content I have only enjoyed a handful of features. The achievement point system that gave credit to achievements. The cut scene with Logan in the bar. The introduction of the bazaar, which got removed. Surprisingly all of the balance fixes (least they are sort of splitting pve and pvp).

Now most people are going to say. “Stahp QQ” “L2P” but as I have said b4 I refuse to let a game that I love sink to the ground. I honestly want to know the amount of people that have left the game, how long they stay b4 they leave and so on.

It seems to me that ArenaNet has a set itenerary for the next 200 years and even though they say they take opinions, they refuse to go back and instead just say ehh didnt work next content.

TL-DR: I love Anet, stop giving us stale/frustrating and more importantly content that has been in game over and over.

Wholeheartedly agree. I, too, enjoyed things like cutscene with Logan in the bar as it was setting some sort of adventure and shady deal, which is kinda cool. Bazaar of the Four winds should have had Dynamic Events and a cool story connected with them and maybe news from Crystal Desert, but the area itself felt so nice and exciting. Tequatl Rising was a great patch and now it would be nice for them to connect it with other dragons’ lore; like why he evolved, how and who’s behind that (maybe Zhaitan isn’t fully destroyed yet and we’ll have to REALLY fight him some day).
It all would be just awesome.

Do you really want to know?

Because you might not like the answer, if it, like everything else in the last year, begins with an ‘S’…

Yeah I am as well a bit disappointed. Hoped for new zones, dungeons, lore and story about the other Elder Dragons, Elona, Cantha etc etc. Nothing of this happened. Instead we get a very achievement-oriented, gem shop oriented shallow ‘content’.

Yes, we got Southsun Cove and Fractlals, but after this there was nothing permanent. The potential is here, but they keep doing this lackluster content (i don’t see new tiers of weapon etc as new content, it’s just natural progression in an MMO). It almost seems that they want to put out such easy to produce content in order to advertise new gem shop items. Maximum income with the least amount of effort.

Why produce complex new dungeons, zones, areas, towns if they still sell gems for real money?

I still hope for 2014 though. Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire, Far Shiverpeaks etc etc. I don’t even ask for Cantha and Elona (saw an interview with Colin Johanson and the usually very talkative and sympathic guy stood there like a speechless puppet when the topic was Cantha/Elona). BTW That’s another point. I really appreciate open communication with the community. They lay low towards this topic. I smell a bit of a conflict between Anet and NCsoft (though only an assumption or feeling). This is something people don’t like. It hurts their image and destroys the credibility and hope poeple had towards this game. I want to point out that i like the franchise, they should return to their strengths: creating a wonderful world with unique art design. Don’t let this game become a gem shop milking player cow with shallow jumping puzzles (yeah they can be fun for 1-2 times) and RNG skin drop boxes. It’s a disgrace.

I have to agree as well. I am struggling to continue playing this game after just returning from a half year break. The way they introduce stories doesn’t feel… right. They need to create better cut scenes and epic stories. The living stories should have a quest line leading up to the final Dynamic Event boss fight. For example in Tequatl Rising they could have introduced quests that explain the rise of Tequatl and how the locals have been dealing with it. We need more purpose to kill a dragon other than for being updated. blah

Southsun would make sense if it was place further out. Right now it seems as if there should be a portal or shipping lane to both Caledon Forest and Sparkfly Fen.

And the world boss timers are painfully meta. They should have been given capture/destroy objectives instead, like we had with Candidate Trials. That way the event would not simply be a DPS race, but a tug of war between the boss and the players to keep the boss around long enough for him to be defeated. This by keeping him and his minions away from whatever he is after.
