No, you’re correct. He did leave GW2 for something/where else (about a year ago iirc).

“Jungle Dragon” was also mentioned by Colin like a year ago.
They really are beautiful and makes u feel peaceful. Great artist is great no doubt. As for when something like this will be in the game i have no clue. Keep in mind all of them have the same hero/girl in them. If they will be all used it’s a sign there will be a big story related to just those 2.

To confirm, during the end of personal story credits Kekai now shows up among the list of “former employees” which follows the scroll of all the active employees’ names/departments.
I think that Kekai does freelance work for Arenanet still. After he left, he produced the designs for Ascended Armour.
Sadly (at least for Guild Wars 2 players), those illustrations are from a personal project of master Kotaki.
