you forgot your tinfoil hat
and where’s the option to join mord? :P
I have to admit I thought something similar, although not to this extent.
Even if I trusted that this vine was good now I sure as hell wouldn’t wear it on my back and let it wrap it’s tendrils around me. I’d keep it somewhere nearby, where I could keep an eye on it and see what happened, but with my torch easily to hand just in case.
Edit: All of which makes it somewhat amusing that instead I opted to stick with my Rabid Fervid Censer.

I for one welcome our future jungle overlord.
I’m still disappointed that the spinal blade backpacks we made from Scarlet’s blueprints using parts taken from Scarlet’s forces didn’t turn out to be shrapnel bombs that she would detonate in case things did not Go As Planned.
He will not get my bloodstone dust, for it only makes him stronger! Never!
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Actually, every engineer in the game will still be alive since we sport hobosacks instead of backpieces.
Not an Engineer’s problem, nope. We smother it using our hobosacks~
I fear Konig has finally gone mad…
I actually thought this the other day too. It’s the bloodstone dust. What’s in bloodstones? Uncorrupted Magic! And what are you doing? Feeding it to bits of mordremoth!
Another interesting thing. The Spinal Blade backpiece blueprints came with the message “Caithe, someday you’ll see, Tyria needs me. -Scarlet”. Maybe Scarlet was trying to make sure everybody on Tyria had an ascended backpiece from the Spinal Blade blueprints, so they wouldn’t bother making the Mordremoth one, and her entire operation was about creating enough blueprints to go around.
It’s the end of days.

While I do not think the back items are going to turn on us (we just have to raise them good ‘n’ proper!), something about them DOES tie into a recent suspicion of mine.
He will not get my bloodstone dust, for it only makes him stronger! Never!
New thread forthcoming. You’ll see.
Who knows, maybe feeding it bloodstone dust will make a tame dragon grow and this time around, unlike Zithan, you dont shoot canons, but grab your popcorn and watch the dragons fight each other XD
LostBalloon has it right, people! We must nurture and reform our little tentacle backpacks, so that when the time of the final confrontation occurs, all of them will merge together to form Tentacle Omega Prime and it will become our ally against Mordremoth!
To tame a dragon minion, you must purify it. Bloodstones do not do this, as they can be corrupted by the Elder Dragons as we see in Arah’s Seer path.
Furthermore, dragon minions don’t grow into dragons.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I really hope that those who craft the backpiece get a surprise boss fight in one instance during Living Story. It would even be worth listening to the whining in the forum from those who crafted the backpiece and didn’t want to fight and from those who didn’t craft the backpiece but did want to fight.

Bloodstones/Bloodstone Dust, no. But we DO feed the vine lots of other materials that could be interpreted as purifying, such as the Sacred Glacial Water, the Maguuma Healing Water, the Chaos Orb (freedom to choose one’s own path?) etc.
It’s just a theory for now, but I really do think that dragon minions could have the potential to evolve into dragon champions and eventually into Elder Dragons, given the fullness of time. It’s how Tequatl mysteriously became stronger after Zhaitan’s death, and if Tequatl were ever completely destroyed, Zhaitan’s power would just pass onto another of his champions, or if one can’t be found, then the next strongest of his minions.
Everyone! Stop crafting the new backpack of Mawdrey and Mawdrey II! It’s a trap, a trap to doom Tyria!
Don’t you think it’s odd? ArenaNet, before Season 2, began said that they want player choice to be bigger in Season 2 than Season 1 (where we had the election). But where is that choice? It certainly isn’t obvious. But what can ArenaNet monitor so well that not everyone doing the main story will do? It’s obvious, right? It’s the backpacks! Crafting, or not crafting, the backpacks will affect the future of the Living Story. How, you might ask? Why would this bring about the doom of Tyria? Because they’ll overgrow us and take over in the name of Mordremoth!
In 4 months time, when ArenaNet has had a chance to analize the results and build upon them, the backpacks will grow and the lies of their description being kind and cuddly will be revealed. They will stretch those tendrils around our characters necks and strangle them like they have done to so many NPCs around the world, and our characters will not be revive-able – for they are no longer knocked out like the defeated state, they are dead, and resurrection magic doesn’t exist anymore. Then with the heroes of Tyria gone, Mordremoth’s forces will spread ever eastward, a new day a new zone! And if most instances of the map doesn’t push back Mordremoth’s forces, they’ll take over. But because of all the backpacks, there won’t be enough level 80s to eliminate the threat in Dry Top, our characters that we’ll have to remake will be too low level to do anything in Brisban, and when they reach Rata Sum – no more asuran characters! When they reach the Grove – no more sylvari characters! Divinity’s Reach? The same! Hoelbrak and Black Citadel! You guessed it! And then, when Mordremoth’s forces inevitable encroach on the last bastions of Tyria, Ebonhawke and Deathblade’s Watch, and they fall, the PvE servers, and the game will be nothing but WvW and sPvP. The world of Tyria will be Mordremoth’s vineyard.
ROTFLMAO!!! I really can’t believe that cute little Mawdrey is the key to our doom! Our little plant pet even gives us gifts in exchange for bloodstone dust! How can you not trust our spiky friend? Even the ladies love and trust him! :P
Let me guess: You’ve been hanging out with Eiddolen (aka Wreaver), haven’t you? This sounds alot like one of Wreaver’s hypothesis. If you haven’t met Eiddolen, you guys should meet in-game. I’m pretty sure your characters would have alot in common!
You and Eiddolen are two cute little peas in a pod! LOL!

brb crafting mawdrey :D:D:D:D:D:D
LMAO. I was about to craft mawdrey 2 until I read about feeding bloodstone dust to the backpack for gifts. Yea right, ‘gifts’ to pull a veil over your eyes until it gets into your brain and take over your body ala ‘The last of Us’ style…
Wait, is Anet bringing branded event of BWE2 back, where non-infected are pit against those who are being taken over by mawdrey? YESSS!! I want to kill the incompetent PvE only doritos so SO much!!
This is actually supported by an analysis of the actual Pale Tree vision!
What about this explanation of the vision:
– Anet has had enough of Tyria for now, they created a beautiful forest (land) but it met mostly cold and harsh response. (this is the beginning with the pale tree going to a cold and harsh winter scene.)
– So they decided to just blow things up (the rays of light – LA was just the start), and from that destruction take the good things (the glowing ‘heart’ and whole new cities rising), and take that into and beyond the Crystal Desert.
– Then to make sure the community doesn’t spread out like it did in GW1, with the release of a whole new continent. They will have Mordremoth consume the whole of Tyria, everything in front (or ‘before’ as in time) the Crystal Desert Episode will be engulfed in Mordremoth’s vines…
- We will not be victorious over Mordremoth when we enter that last area of land, instead we will trigger the full rage of him. We will be engulfed and driven back, Rata Sum will fall, The Grove will fall, Devinities reach will fall, The ruins of Lions arch will fall, The order head quarters will fall, Hoelbrak will fall, The Black Citadel will fall, And finally we will Enter the Crystal Desert Through Ebon Hawk, And it too will fall…
Players can take their racial characters with them and play the new Elona Chapter, but apart from a few races, no new ones can be made. This is most noticeable for the Sylvari and Possibly the Norn, instead there will be (a) new Race(s) introduced. And Tyria will be nothing more than ‘ancient history’, eaten up by Mordremoth. And we will be playing a New Chapter in which Anet can take all the lessons learned and implement them in a New part of the game…
The end of Tyria, onwards into the land of the Golden Sun…

If they were, they’d be constantly at war with the hylek.
To the matter of the vines, I’m sure if the vines were harmful, we wouldn’t have even tried to make it. These vines are harmless, and totally friendly. All hail Mordremoth.
The vines maybe harmless now but just you wait …..after 4 or 5 weeks you will log into the game to find your character laying dead on the character selection screen with a thorny vine around his/her throat …and how can you “fix” this catastrophe? simple by buying Evon Gnashblade’s guaranteed super duper weedkiller for the cheap cheap price of 500 gems in the store ….if any Anet employee reads this comment please please disregard it , I do not want to give you ideas :P
I’ve done worse things in the name of fashion.
The future of Tyria
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Has no one but like one person gotten the pop culture reference in the backpiece’s name and in what it consumes?
Maybe Anet wants Tyria to become a small shop of some type of horror
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
I’m going to be laughing if Modremoth really does look like Audrey II!

I actually didn’t wanna make the back piece until I saw the name of the completed one and the fact it eats bloodstone lol!!

It may already be too late. This morning I logged in to find one of my characters strangled on the login screen. When I attempted to play him, the game produced an error message stating that “The character you are attempting to select is no longer valid. Please choose another character or create a new one.” He had only been wearing Mawdrey for a little over 2 weeks now….
This is a warning to all who have created the Mawdrey backpiece- Do NOT equip it! Do NOT grow it! And whatever you do…… DO NOT FEED THE PLANT!

Stuff! Stuffy stuff stuff stuff!!
I have to admit, I didn’t get the reference until now. Probably because I keep thinking the last RL pop culture reference was the last one. And they might actually…you know…create a story element that has something, anything, to do with Tyria itself instead of basing every new plot device on either rehashed fantasy tropes or RL pop culture.
Suddenly Seymoooouuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Konig- May I share that popcorn with you?
