Honestly I think the Grove might be the primary Ley Line hub, and that’s why such the focus on the Pale Tree. This would also explain how the Pale Tree has access to the ‘veil’ to prevent the corruption of the Sylvari. The glow of the plants and Sylvari would probably just be the infusion of the magic from the Ley Lines that went through the tree, and the Sylvari are simply by-products of plants having direct contact with the magic that pulses through Tyria in this hub. We see this effect in the vine right below the entrance to Dry Top – Mordrimoth’s vine is absolutely filled with a violet glowing light. It would also explain a pre-life Dream and the Wyld Hunt – memories and echoes of the past and unfulfilled desires of the once living that were mixed in with the magic from the use of the waypoints and passed through the ley lines to this hub. As far as we’ve seen, Dry Top is too desolate for it’s ley line hub to have this much of an effect on anything that inhabits it, and it could simply be a smaller secondary hub to the Grove’s and thereby have much less magic in it (or Earth Elementals originated here).
EDIT: This also falls in line with the screenshots in the OP on https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Ley-Line-Connection-With-Southsun
If Southsun has a possible visible Ley Line hub, then this theory is entirely valid…
Thoughts? Opinions? I actually never played S1 so I could be very wrong.

The focus is on the Pale Tree right now because Mordremoth is a plant-affecting Elder Dragon.
Also, there may or may not be “A Very Bad Idea” in the summit being gathered right there where the only thing keeping Mordremoth at bay is the Pale Tree’s will.
I don’t think the Pale Tree is the biggest ley line hub in Tyria. It could be a hub, but unlikely to be the hub. Reason being is that it was the Artesian Waters that had such a huge amount of magic as to draw the Six Gods to the world – you’d think that the biggest ley line hub would do that.
We know of three hubs currently: Cavern of Shining Lights, Thaumanova Reactor, and Lion’s Arch (the latter being the biggest and all three share a single major ley line). The Artesian Waters is a good bet for another hub, perhaps even bigger than LA.
The glow of the plants in the Grove and the sylvari is merely bioluminescence. Nothing magic, purely biological and happens in reality.
Even without any other reasons, the fact that the Sylvari are gung-ho on killing Elder Dragons, combined with the fact that Caithe and Traherene have already played a significant part in taking down one Elder Dragon already, does make them a clear and present danger to all of the Elder Dragons, including Mordremoth.
Any Elder Dragon that doesn’t have one eye on the Pale Tree at this point has not being paying attention.
A focus on the Pale Tree? Well I guess, although by that merit S1 was focused on LA.
The Pale Tree initially got involves because of the vision from Omadd’s machine and stayed involve because that’s where the summit was being conducted. If by Pale Tree you mean Sylvari, in which case I guess you can add Aerin. Still not a lot of focus.
So I don’t see this big focus on the Pale Tree, well in game in anycase. A lot of focus on the Pale Tree outside the game (like in these forums).
I never post on the forums but I couldn’t ignore this thread
I must say it.
The reason that the main focus on the plot goes to sylvari
is because they meant for the main story to be for sylvari.
that why trahearn is the main protagonist, that why scarlet was the evil bad person last time, and that why we are facing mordermorth and the pale tree in the center now (and acting as if she is your mother regardless of your race)
and that is because it is easier to focus on one race rather than many
i think all the focus on the slyvari and pale tree cause its closer to the dragon they are bringing out and another i think that dragon has corrupted another tree and knows of slyvari and there dream and see some significance in it but thats my thoughts on the subject

Yep. After playing a Sylvari toon, it’s pretty clear that the main story revolves around them. Their timely arrival is like a chance mutation in the world that is instrumental to preventing the utter destruction the elder dragons might otherwise have wrought.
Also, from a creative standpoint, they’re pretty much the distinguishing feature in GW2’s setting. I’m not saying nobody has done tree people before, but at least they’re not elves. Also, GW2 has done a lot in exploring and developing their culture and ideologies, which take good consideration of their plant-ness.

I think it’s because Mordy and Pale Tree used to date.
He’s not a very good boyfriend.
