The Content of New Zones in Maguuma
dwarves
The way Maguuma worked in many of the areas in GW1 was that the upper areas were dry, and all the valleys and canyons had lots of growth. I’m hoping the maps have a few multi layered areas too, also some actual forests and jungles instead of small collections of trees.
If its as big as it shows on the map, we got alot of new zones coming, hope they will have something new for us to explore. I’m looking forward to the patch, whatever it may bring to us
It might end up being just one new map: the Gate To Maguuma, which we will have to explore, etc etc, and eventually that GATE opens up to the rest of maguuma.
I’d love to be proven wrong, however.
I hope it’s not just one zone.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Agreed, don’t think it’s just a single zone. Maybe it will start with a single zone and expand from there. It also showed some cliffs in the trailer, so we might hope for multi-layered zones.
I hope, there will be more than 1 zone added to the world map on July 1st, but ONLY the first will be available. The other could be unlocked as the LS goes on…
I hope the new one will be available to player who completed personal story only – just to keep the concept of story journal

Pretty sure the Devs said the new content will be available to anyone…either at no cost for logging in during release, or at a cost later. The only requirements I heard were that the Journal Instances would be restricted to Level 80s. Nothing about having to have completed any previous content.

That wouldn’t make any sense, though.
You can go to Fort Trinity and Orr without doing any of the personal story.
Also, what’s the point to locking the zones via story? You lock zone 1, and no one would be able to go to any zones that branch off from it unless they had that story.

I think what he’s saying is not as you do it, but as the season progresses, like 1 zone at the opening then another zone as more of the season 2 content is released. It wouldn’t be locked off until you did the story.
I’d expect zones to be locked off until the relevant release, but not gated by story – that is, if you drop in after everything’s released, you’ll be able to visit all zones without touching the story.
Or they could open everything up at once but that seems too optimistic.
Yeah, I think they might open up a single new zone first and then we eventually proceed to other areas as the story progresses.
I was first thinking we might have to go through this desert area first to get to the jungle part where Mordremoth supposedly lies, but seeing as all the actual areas with Elder dragons are inaccessible to us, I guess not.
I just hope we get to see some new creatures/mobs and not the ones already existing (drakes, devourers, reef riders etc.) but slightly altered.
GW1 Maguuma had spiders, trolls, devourers, wind riders, a few centaurs, jungle wurms, and then there were those Thorn Stalkers and Moss Scarabs.

Yes. All of these and also Root Behemoths, (which are not the same as wurms I was informed although they look like them to me), Life Pods, Wraith, Fog Nightmares, Smoke Phantoms, Reed Stalkers, Oakhearts/Redwood Shepherds, Jungle Skale, and various undead.
I hope we get to see some of these creatures that haven’t been in game up to this point.
I guess there will be the usual Dragon mobs, some other local mobs and maybe inquest?
