The Mad Castle
I’ve seen that castle in the Mad Realm also. For those curious, you can see it in the Labyrinth, from the far southwest corner, next to the Mad Moon. Rather curious about it and what it means for later.
Also, while in the Labyrinth, if you open the map, and at the bottom right change the viewing levels, you can see when you zoom back out, a lot of familiar things in the Mists. You can see all the Spvp maps and the WvW maps. In addition, you can see at the very top (and a bit right of the center WvW borderlands), you can see a white patch area. Zooming in, the white patch disappears and you can see 4 little islands. Hinting perhaps of something new to come?

King Oswald Thorn ruled Kryta in th 9th century AE and Tyria changed a lot in 1317 years since his reign. No wonder, the players don’t find much about him in the world; to most tyrian residents he is simply The Mad King, ruler of all things scary and creator of all jokes bad.
I believe, the Mad Caste was visible during the last Halloween, so it’s nothing new, really. Also, the entire Mad Realm is the Mad King’s domain and he is very powerful in it. Nobody banished the entire kingdom; King Thorn just (re)created his castle.
We discussed the Mad Castle in the lore section in this topic:

You can also see the Clocktower and Ascent to Madness as a part of the castle.
Who possibly had that much power to banish a whole kingdom into the underworld? Perhaps it was “Isgarren” himself or one of the many other powerful wizards that done the deed. Unless it was likely built upon his arrival. This has a lot of potential.
A connection to Isgarren is very unlikely. Because this isn’t really a flying castle, like the one that supposedly Isgarren occupies. All areas of the Mists are basically floating islands. Not flying structures, but separate pieces of history drifting in the endless void.
It is far more likely that the Mad King summoned or willed this castle into existence, or that he found a memory of it floating in the Mists. It is possible that this is the castle that Mad King Thorn occupied when he was still alive, in some different incarnation. It’s unlikely I think, that this is a real castle that was sucked into the Mists. The real castle is probably either in ruins or completely destroyed, and it’s just this memory that remains in the Mists. This could be very much like the islands we see in Fractals. The Mists remember fragments of the past.
