I half expected it to be a jumping puzzle when I saw them, hollow and circling. Then I noticed they are in the middle of nowhere. Probably for the best, as falling down those gaps would be far more frustrating than jumping puzzles already are.
It reminded me of the Path of the Beam from Stephen King’s book Wastelands.
I’m a scifi geek more so than a fantasy one so the first thing on my mind when I saw that was “oh a big lazer weapon system!”
The whole cave will turn out to be Mordemoth’s belly, with Omadd’s machine in his skull or something.

See I thought based on the screen shot and video trailer that maybe this was Mord developing itself into a corporeal form. But I think that would be pushing it. The rock is some kind of rare material, it’s why we have weapons of it so it’s interesting enough. I just have since decided to stop hanging on that idea that it’s a body.
