We call them The Shatterer, The Claw of Jormag and Tequatl the Sunless, which players periodically gather to mindless bash hoping those big fat piñatas will give them a precursor.
A “Dragon Bash” event would have been the perfect opportunity to improve those dynamic events and actually make them something interesting, that could be failed. People would likely continue to mindlessly farm them (since that’s all some players want to do), but at least it would cater to those players who want to have fun, too.
the problem with making them more difficult is they end up like Balthazaar and Grenth, not a problem in my book but people moan and then usually leave them to there own devices while doing the easier events for the most part.
my suggestion would be to include them as guild activities, NOT MISSIONS so no influence needed rather they gain the guild influence thus helping the smaller guilds and the bigger guilds alike to put towards guild missions, make these instanced, similar to Fractals, entrances at the dragon event locations in some form of asura tech and increase the difficulty + scale to the player.
Or make them fun to play. Most of those bosses are pretty static. Now I don’t mind them being hard but problem with Grenth and Balth is that they are artificaly hard, meaning, they have insane amount of HP and deal pretty big damage. I don’t like that, and by the looks of things most people don’t like that. If you take hp and damage, those bosses would be easy. So they need to make them hard by allowing them to use interesting skills where you need to react, or make multiple goals to kill that champ during the boss fight. It’s such a shame we have this fantastic combat system with a lot of dodgin, moving, reacting and boss battles are reduced to, stand in one spot and pres 1-5
I’m really hoping that in the next 3 months we will see promised rework of open world bosses, because in their current state they aren’t fun to play against.
I want to see those dragons reworked to be more epic. That includes a good chance to fail them, and appropriate rewards if you beat them. Karka queen at last has a timer (and twice the bonus rewards) so it might be testing the waters in that direction.
What I dont want to see is real instancing though, especially not with those three events. More, new guild events that are like big boss fights, gladly. But they should be added, not take away other content.
I cant work out if Anet are taking the kitten by putting this dragon bash in, is it an acknowledgement that their dragons are , whilst visually appealing, some of the most pathetic dragon encounters in the gaming history.
Claw is ok, at least you have to actually do stuff.
Teq and kitten are just bad, they are just stand and autoattack, loot.

This is what I would like to see as well. Killing the Shatterer is incredibly boring – if you stay still and auto-attack, you will likely kill it. Jormag is probably the best dragon champion, and even it is lacking in many aspects.

I love those hard events, but I really hate the grenth temple because one pug can mess it all up. It is hard to get a small group of coordinated players going to do it because a random can run along and fail the whole event for everyone.

That’s essentially what I was expecting/hoping guild missions to be, not the silly things we have now which basically require a huge guild in order to get anywhere. Have a shared guild instance, bring in people from outside your guild if you so choose by having them party with guild members, have the instance scale with teh number of players, and go to town.
As was said before in this thread, I don’t think removing existing content to make way for guild content is the way to go, but some instanced guild content does seem like it would be worthwhile.
