Toypocalypse, please let me join with Party
Seconded, the answer given in the bug forum makes no sense. It was possible last year. Any reason involving “it isn’t possible” simply means that the game has apparently been downgraded to sub-par conditions and should be reverted back in that case.
Year 1, couldn’t join with parties. EVERYONE hated it.
Year 2, fixed. Happy days.
Year 3, same nonsense as year 1.
This is a horrible change. I want to play with my friends. Anything else is not acceptable.
From what i understand, they did something they considered important, and due to this broke Toypocalypse. And since it’s the winter holiday season, there’s no chance they will have manpower to fix it in time, so they’d rather claim it was intentional.
As always, Anet doesn’t fail to present themselves from their best side.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Well i got “in trouble” for what i said was silly…
I hope I get in trouble again for saying I think this is silly and dont agree with it.
I’ll just go post on reddit.
It was intentional by the game designers to keep PvP and activities stabilized. It wasn’t to make the game less fun. From the sounds of things the devs had no choice in the matter because the code used for Toypocalypse is the same code used for PvP (which is a permanent part of the game). If they didn’t remove the party join feature for Toypocalypse, PvP would be unstable. So either way players would have complained. Catch 22. :P

Keep in mind there were major changes to PvP recently. So blame them for making PvP more interesting.

I understand. and thats one reason why I dont do any activities, I dont like playing with random ppl, Im in a guild, I have friends I want to play with them.
Its just 1 less thing Im going to play.
And dont even say anything like “Well thats your option and you can still play it”
its not fun, I want to play with ppl I know and on TS with, Im in a TS3 channel with many ppl that I cant play with IF I choose to plat toypoc.
It’s not Wintersday without my friends, or without making new ones. And since there are no Wintersday activities I can do with my friends or make new ones, there’s no Wintersday.
I second this as well. Not only can you not join with friends, but most of the the times you try to join, you are put in an instance that is already completed. 18 minutes on the clock and nothing to do. That is just stupid!
I play this game to play with fiends in my Guild! This is “Guild” Wars after all. They seem to be doing every thing in their power to minimize the importance of Guilds. I do not like this trend.
This event is soooo much fun with friends. Last year, we had Guild Toypacalypse events almost every night. Smashing toys and building snow forts were our favorite parts of Wintersday.
This year, we were looking forward to doing the same thing, and it doesn’t work. Your explanation was far from satisfying and we have several guildies who range from disappointed to furious. This is not a good start to Wintersday.
You could have done much better, ArenaNet.
I must admit, I was shocked to see you couldn’t join a party for it this year. But, I suppose, it did make this easier for those who want to hit it and quit it . . . in a manner of speaking.
This event is fun only with your friends. With strangers, you are only building defenses and every one is doing his own thing. No communication, just an occasional line but that’s all.
We did this together in guild teams with Teamspeak last year and had fun – this year it is plain boring, just like a very lengthy solo experience.
The explanation why we cannot join as party this year makes no sense to me as a player. I don’t understand it. It may have a technical reason behind it, but the technics should support the player, not the player should do what the technics demand.

Those are not explanations. Just excuses for not fixing their kitten.
Well kitten.
I enjoyed playing Toypocolypse with my husband and 1 of my guildies last year. Now I don’t have that option anymore?
Fix it Anet! Since this code is similar to your pvp code, and you can join pvp in parties of assorted sizes, the same should be able to be applied to activities.
At least they fixed the broken instances. Last night I finished my meta, and I joined an instance just starting (thank you) and would have made it all the way through a second time if I hadn’t hit the exit button instead of the wiggle chest. >.< (my own fault there)
If the problem is breaking PvP… Then do it. Far many more PvE then PvP… This is coming from someone who PvP’s… Doing activities with friends makes this game so much more enjoyable.

I’d be amazed if ANET actually replied to any post made here.
I would LOVE to see this more generalised towards other activities.
This game is called Guild Wars 2, Yet it is impossible to enjoy this very cool content as a guild
- I want to play Lunatic Inquisition with my guild. I’m 100% sure this game is never played as it is intended. Currently people just suicide to become a ghost and get more points. Not a single villager teams up and coordinates. If you would play this as a guild, villagers would team up, lay traps, ambush the ghost. It would actually be possible for the villagers to win this game through fighting, instead of just finding a lame hiding spot and afk’in for the rest of the game.
- I want to play Snowball Mayhem with my guildies, not some random players
- I want to race my Guild in Winter Wonderland
- I want to Race my Guild in The Clock Tower
- I want to play Keg Brawl with my Guild
- I want to play Sanctum Sprint with my Guild. I mean, how AWESOME would this be.
- …
It can’t be that hard to implement this, so why don’t you? No, instead i have to come up with my own open world activities to do as a christmas party for my Guild. Spending 10g on Snowman tonics for everyone just so we can have a snowball fight and keep score. Finding a cool JP to race with my guildies, …
You already have all the activities i need, will you please stop forcing me to use hotjoin for all of them !
Edit:
Out of fear being buried here, If you support this idea, post on the more generalised idea: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Add-Guild-Only-Join-Option-to-Activities/first#post4637706
