Trouble at Fort Salma.
after you enter the fort, hug the left wall and go up in the back over the rooftops to find an arrowcart
After doing this 7 times I finally managed to get to eastern gate only to run into at least 12-15 enemies and died in seconds. NPC’s said something about siege engines but I never saw them. All this trouble and haven’t even saw the boss yet.
You’re supposed to go along the north wall, not straight through the middle.
Marj and Kas say that to you and there’s an arrow on the map.
Wait until Maj and Kas bug out and you can’t finish it, that’s the BEST part -_-

I died at the boss fight and they abandoned me. I had to kill it all alone.
I didn’t die, but they just sort of… vanished during the fight. The oversized bone minions were still doing their thing thankfully, but Kas and Jory were just gone after a bit and I basically ended up killing it on my own. They didn’t reappear until the finishing cutscene there.
This part of the LS was the most confusing thus far. After I figured out where the arrow cart was, it went alright. As far as the Mordrem Thrasher boss, better instructions would have been better – like saying on the side bar "protect minions and attack when shield down instead of Jory’s annoying voice somewhat overshadowed by the music. Unfortunately when I was supposed to regroup w/Belinda in Fort Salma, I tried to jump thru the Bone Shield/bunker and was totally stuck as in could not get out of it, so I’ll have to do it again. (have tried 3 times and failed LOL) – stupid Ranger sword movement.

I have looked for that arrow cart and can not find it. Enemies come at me way to quickly.
This part of the LS has made me not want to play LS. If I want Nintendo Hard, I own a Nintendo and Ninja Gaiden :p

I finally got this done with another player helping out. The arrow cart part turned out to be fairly easy after I found it, but the boss was tough. Actually the boss itself was easy, but keeping it’s shield down was rough even with 2 of us.

I just /bugged this in game, very irritating.

This is what happened to me – thank goodness the bone minions had their stuff together
Finished it with Mesmer first try, but I think it went on for about 10 15 minutes after backup glitched.

Waitaminute, they were supposed to help more throughout the fight than simply by spawning bone minions and shouting unhelpful tips?! And here I thought Kas just ran out of juice for her bubbles and the fight was hard simply because my squishy little thief can be two-shotted by those wolves and has insufficient condition cleansing to deal with the condi-spamming slime from the Thrasher boss…

Well, Kas tossing down some Time Warps and Feedbacks would’ve helped.
Oh, and since I happened to use a thief as well that time…. try going 0/0/6/2/6 with a pistol/dagger setup and dire/rabid gear. That helps with survivability.
I just got done with the quest. I went on top of the walls to get to the arrow cart.
On the boss fight, I believe that Marjory is supposed to be on the wall to supply you with the Bone Minions. But I don’t know what Kas is supposed to be doing. It would have been nice to have some more help.
Every time I tried to run to the next bone minion to get the wolf, I would get there in time for the minion to die. So I stayed in one spot and waited for the wolf right when it appeared. Took a long time to down the boss this way but I wasn’t frantically running around at least.
And super nice of them to make you do it all over to get achievements, too.
Marjory flat out tells you to head along the wall, and there’s a big green arrow on the minimap. How anyone had trouble locating the arrow cart is beyond me. Speakers muted maybe?
As for Kas and Marjory bugging out, that’s gotta be annoying. Hope they fix that for those affected.

In this video you see exactly what happens: Marjory and Kas run around and tell you what to do in the beginning, but then they disappear. I guess Kas is doing something – I guess those bubbles are for you to duck into to avoid damage. But providing minions and bubbles isn’t exactly a lot of help. A actual Necro and Mesmer would be doing DPS, debuffing, buffing, etc on top of providing minions and bubbles. I’m not sure why the devs decided to do it this way except to artificially lengthen the fight. That type of thing isn’t interesting and exciting, just frustrating and boring.
Wait until Maj and Kas bug out and you can’t finish it, that’s the BEST part -_-
I’ve finished it with them beeing bugged out. First didn’t understood what i had to do, then i searched a save spot to heal up and googled a bit .. after that they were gone while mob still had 100%.
Was annoying like hell .. but can’t say if its less annoying with them .. lol
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
This is a horrible boss fight!
I’m supposed to fight the thing alone? Minions coming from all directions and the dogs completely ignoring me and my Mesmer’s clones and just going after the minions that often die just b4 they reach the boss. And i don’t know what bubbles ppl above are talking about, I’ve seen no bubbles only insane rings of crap flying everywhere from the boss.
I tried to grab the dogs’ aggro by hopping from one to another, but they just ignore me till they kill the minions then turn on me. These dogs hit like a truck, each hit takes 1/3 of my life.
I thought Aerin fight was boring and annoying but this takes the cake.
Died twice now, first time after returning, the boss still remained damaged a little after about half an hour of going it at it, the 2nd time, when i got back in range he had fully reset. How annoying to spawn u so faraway from the boss fight, so that he would reset b4 you get back!
Well that did it for me. I’m not gonna bother with it, it’s too boring and frustrating and takes waaaaayyyy too long.
And yea, Kas Marj are nowhere to be seen gg.
It’s a shame that this fight ruins for the most part a great story so far, i really don’t know what they’ve thinking with this fight, it’s totally unfun!
I don’t know how you didn’t manage to catch the idea of getting onto wall. I mean, there’s a dialogue, constantly spawning mobs in the middle, warning from NPC to NOT cross the middle, mobs along the wall path and freaking big green arrow.
Think for a while. I fear the day when you try one of older RPGs and find out that there’s absolutely no arrow, mark, minimap or tips.
As for the boss fight : some AoE healing for minions is quite good and Boss himself favorises burst power builds.

You need to cc the wolves, or kill them outright. I’m a tank necro and I had enough cc and damage to take care of the wolves, you should too. You don’t need the biconics to complete the fight.
So:
- Locate minion when it spawns, cc/kill the wolf associated with that minion.
- If for some strange reason you can’t cc it or kill it (no excuses not to really) heal yourself/the minion until it reaches the boss safely.
- When the shield goes down buff yourself and equip your highest dmg weapon and melt it.
- Rinse/repeat, but make sure to keep heals or boons to your regen on you a lot so the spores don’t mess with you too much.
Overall it isn’t a difficult fight, there is just a certain rhythm to it.
I’m sorry guys… but I didn’t have any trouble whatsoever in this quest :/ Seemed well explained (arrow cart does have a huge green star on itself) and it never bugged out, maybe you just rushed it (like Dulfy says that can happen in fort concordia doing the achievs)?
Just tried to do this on my ele and gave up not long after the thrasher showed up. I feel like Anet is REALLY trying to discourage soloing this instance. I mean Aerin was a pain to solo for sure, but it was at least doable. This….this just isn’t.

Before anyone asks, no I had zero trouble getting to the boss. I knew to follow the magical green arrow and use the arrow cart. My problem is the boss itself, I just couldn’t solo it : (

It’s not easy, but not that hard, either. As mentioned, you’ve got to CC the wolves. As an ele, you can use D/D for Magnetic Grasp, Updraft and Earthquake, then Signet of Earth if necessary. The boss doesn’t regen or heal, so it may take a while, but it’s not particularly difficult.
Marjory and Kas disappeared on me, too, but you don’t really need Kas’s help, as the Thrasher’s attacks are easily avoidable even without it. I think it may not be a bug, but a deliberate event due to what happens after the fight.

I had the exact same thing happen. Marjory and Kasmeer disappear mid-fight taking Kasmeer’s bubble shields with her. Fortunately Majory’s minions remained to do there part.
Durring the fight Kasmeer is supposed to be laying down shielded areas for you to duck under to avoid the Thrasher’s attacks while it is shielded. The minions will often pass through these shielded areas too, so you can attack the hounds without having to worry about the Thrasher’s rain of death. However, Kasmeer disappears mid-fight leaving you unprotected. Your best bet is to dodge or retreat when the Thrasher does its area effect attack (you should see a whole bunch of red circles on the ground telling you where you don’t want to be). I was able to solo the thrasher on a greatsword wielding guardian, but I died twice and had to restart from checkpoint.
A skill that teleports you directly to your opponent like “judges intervention” is useful against the hounds. I’m not sure about other classes or skills.

The Thief’s Steal was quite helpful, yes.
A tactic I employed when I found myself all alone in that fight, spending too much time dodging and too little time actually killing those wolves, let alone doing damage to the boss, was to wittle a hound down, get out, heal up, and let the minion die, then just wait for a new minion to spawn. Since the wolf from the previous minion is still alive, there is a good chance that there won’t be a new wolf spawned with the new minion, and instead the old wolf will attack the new minion. Now kill the wolf, accompany the minion, and when the shields are down give the boss a few good whacks. Sure, it about doubled the length of the fight compared to if I had been able to save every minion. But I at least was semi-reliably able to get every second minion to do its job, which was more than I did when I tried to save every one of them.

Oh, so it’s like Mhenlo and Togo bugging Vizunah to make it unwinnable sometimes?
Maybe it’s me but after entering the gate and the arrow tells you to run on the east to the arrow cart…
Did no one else think “Hmmm monsters on the left, not much on the right. I’ll just hop over the little hill on the right an run directly to the arrow cart” I did this one my first attempt and was wondering why the arrow was directing me to the left route.
As for the thrasher boss, it’s not particularly hard. If you pay attention the minions take turns to spawn in a clockwise position. East, South, West then North.
For the dogs, you simply just kill them, use your brain “Oh it’s attacking the minion, how should I stop them?”
“I should probably kill it but it’s also chasing after the minion.”
Options:
1. Slow down the attacker so it isn’t directly on top of the minion constantly so you give the minion extra time to reach it’s destination. This means using cripples.
2. Kill the monster before it kills the minion.
3. Speed up the minion so it can reach the thrasher before it dies.
4. Support the minion so it lives longer/takes less damage. Using protection/heals.
5. Important to note that the minion gets crippled from the monsters attack so if you want it to run faster, condition removal would help.
Let’s see what each class has to offer in the situation.
Warrior: Can shout heal, has warhorn to remove cripple and provide speedbuffs, can kill dogs due to high dps, can cripple spam with sword, plenty of various CC (hammer too).
Ele: Access to heals/condi removes/CC (daggers), high staff dps with fire #2
Mesmer: Shatter dps builds, CCs
Necro: condition removal, DPS, condi overload, CC
Guardian: support boons, condition removal, DPS
Thief: CC, dps, stealth
Engi: Heals, condition removal, DPS
Ranger: DPS, CC, heals
Every class has something that can be used to get past this.
Also in some cases the north monster will get bugged and stuck behind a wall or such and you don’t even need to protect that minion as it doesn’t get attacked.

Easier said than done. When I attempted it, the minions and wolves were spawning very irregularly, as were Kasmeer’s safety bubbles. I could not for the life of me identify a pattern other than, " Well this sucks, guess I better come back in a party." Even after looking at solo strategies I just don’t think I have the patience to try and solo again.
As an elementalist, ice bow is incredibly effective here. You can use it to freeze the wolves, as well as heal yourself by firing at close range, and obviously the rain ability does high damage to the boss.
I’d recommend that to any eles struggling.
I just wish this mechanic wasn’t purely based on needing an outside source to break the shield. At least Aerin you broke through yourself, but having to depend on the minions as the sole way of getting at the thing is frustrating. Feels less like a boss fight and more like the biggest pain in the butt escort quest at times.
This fight was hard?
Aside from Jory and Kas vanishing halfway through it (That’s either a bug or they realized that Belinda was being attacked in the fort… in which case, they could have said something…) I had no problems with this story instance or this boss fight.
… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’
I’ve only tried it with my LB/SB ranger, but I thought the boss fight was fun once I figured out what I had to do. (And yes, the NPCs bailed out on me during the fight.)
I would sometimes take a few shots at a wolf but not really try to save the minion. I’d see that it was already close to dead, and simply let that one die and save my skill recharges for saving the next one. The fight took a while, but it wasn’t that bad for me. Ranged attacks really do seem to help here, as does clearing away all other enemies before really trying to win the fight.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I won’t pretend I’m a particularly skilled Ele, but I had to give up on that boss after a few hours— particularly when he somehow DID regain all of his health. I tried going at him with the Seraph as back up to slowly whittle him down but after he regained his health, all my armor broken from repeated dying it just felt pretty useless and not at all enjoyable.
Remember that you can change your spec freely, if you current spec doesn’t work for a fight, change it up.
Also don’t walk into the acid circles, there’s no excuse to get hit by them.
I didn’t find this one particularly difficult, just a little frustrating after Marjory and Kasmeer disappeared – because I had no idea where those useful rigged minions would come from if there was no Jory around…
Figured it out eventually, after that, it still took a while (because I didn’t always find the minions in time) but wasn’t difficult at all. ood thing Necros are pretty tanky even in zerker gear
(Healing life transfer helps with the minions, as does fear – and killing the wolves quickly. )
It was an annoying fight. Marj and Kas bugged out on me shortly after the fight started… And I didn’t notice a set pattern for minion spawns — at several points during the fight I swear there was more than one spawned. I just sat near a single spawn point and babysat that minion rather than running all over the place. It took a while, but it worked for me.
If you see an area covered in green glowing gas, there’s a big chance you should avoid entering it. That or the cheap burito you ate today was cheap for a reason…
I actually preferred it when Kas wasn’t there. Trying to get under her shield and then track the minions was annoying.
The minions spawn from three locations, and the spawn timing just cycles through the three. I found the one spawning near the entrance to the mine/cave to be easier to defend and get to the boss, plus the boss’ attacks don’t hit around that corner as much, fewer to dodge, no terrain edges to fall off. So, I just let the other two die when they spawned, stuck with my one minion, retreated to its spawn point to heal up while waiting for it to spawn, and finished it up. The boss takes a good deal of damage when the shield is down, so just timing your skills between what the minion needs and damage for the boss will work.
ArenaNet DID warn us that the new Living Story area would present challenges. I’m enjoying having to think a bit more to get this stuff finished.

Didn’t have any problems on my mesmer, but i wore mixed zerker and pvt gear, that helped a lot Greatsword 5 turned out to be a handy knockback to get the wolves away from the minions.
Marush Ifri, Noreena Gorun, Arsaname, Desra Ele…
For those who don’t want to run about like crazy trying to get to all the bone minions, you don’t have to. Every time I tried to run to the next bone minion to get the wolf, I would get there in time for the minion to die. So I stayed in one spot and waited for the wolf right when it appeared. Took a long time to down the boss this way but I wasn’t frantically running around at least.
I had a bit of trouble on my D/D elementalist (mostly zerker but with some soldier so I can remain vertical) so I switched to a S/D fresh air build and it went a lot better. Keep well away from the slime pool that appears around the boss when the shield drops! That stuff is nasty! It could be handy for a Plague Signet necro though.
Jory and Kas do have an annoying habit of leashing back to their spawn point here for some reason during the boss fight, I guess they have difficulty with transitioning them from the wall by the arrow cart to the boss area but I don’t know why. A couple of additional targets for the wolves might have made it easier.

That was my mesmer’s biggest asset, along with Feedback on the boss when its shielding was down. My biggest problem to start with was that the minion’s weren’t spawning with Marjory out of the picture. Exiting the instance and starting again seemed to fix that. She and Kasmeer still meandered away to have a quiet moment, but I and the minions finished the job.

When Kas and Jory bug out, they go back to their original spawn location at the start of the mission (just inside the entrance to the fort). Not sure what causes it, but I noticed them standing there when I died and had to run all the way back through (why isn’t the checkpoint near the boss?).

Dying is so funny there! They go off and stand at the point they were at when you first went into the Fort, and they’re chatting on about “PROTECT MY MINIONS” and they’re just stood there chilling…
