Even after all this time world 2-2 still has a stone blockade that requires an upgrade for the push skill and appears to have some sort of upgrade inside if you angle the camera over the top. I wonder if this means there’s still a chance of a world 3 or even 4 in the future or it’s now a remnant of something we could have seen.

I think they definitely had some idea of what they’d do for Worlds 3 and 4 and allowed for that when building World 1 + 2. And I think you’re right that this is an example of that.

But that was back in September 2013 and I think their development plans were quite different then. I doubt they had any plans to make an expansion at the time – they had just ramped the Living Story up to bi-weekly updates a couple of months before and we were just beginning to get the first hints that there might be an overarching theme to the updates (if I remember correctly the first hints were in July and August when Mai Trin and some other ‘lead’ villains talked about working for someone called Scarlet), but mostly it seemed to be random, unconnected events.

So at the time I suspect they were thinking they could keep doing regular updates to SAB along with other festivals and Living World releases. But the introduction of permanent content (the first being the change to Tequatl, which happened at the same time as SAB) and then the Aetherblade dungeon proved to be very popular and players kept on asking and asking for an expansion…so I guess plans changed.

I do keep hoping we’ll see World 3 and 4 one day though.

Old news I had seen that ever since world 2 came out. Apparently you need the “Glove of Power” to get inside there, which was never added to the game.

However I have doubts that is an upgrade as it looks like a bottle of booze and all other upgrades are bought in shops. Except for the glove itself and the elites which are hidden. So what could that bottle upgrade? The only thing I can think of is the health potion, but that was also upgraded through a purchase. It also won’t be another heart as that would be for defeating world 3 end boss like the other 2.
I rather think it would be for an achievement if “Glove of Power” was introduced.
Or it could be 3 extra lives – common feature in retro games.
If it is an upgrade then the only thing I can think of is something like an “armour upgrade” i.e. we take 50% less damage after drinking it. But it sounds too OP for something so easy to find.

I have also known about it since world 2 was release and it made me look forward to world 3. Perhaps if enough people desire a world 3 it will be created but at this point it seems unlikely. I can imagine not only would it take a while to make a new world it would also take some time to make and test trib mode for a new world. Plus, with the addition of 2 new skins (this year and last year) the chances of ever seeing a new world are looking slimmer and slimmer. My guess as to what the item would be is that they used that icon as a placeholder at the time.

Doubt they will ever bother with world 3 unless they get really desperate.
They seem to be putting all their chips on leagues, raids and the next expac.
Their old events are just recycled each year and got a new mini or something as a reward.

Something I noticed is it looks exactly the same as what you carry when you get fireworks out of the super fun box.

It’s probably a bomb upgrade.

Back when SAB was released, not sure if W1 or W2, people datamined a list of icons including many unreleased upgrades.
