I really don’t understand why this fight was designed this way. The gameplay of the Vermignus fight is essentially no different from the kind of dynamic event you face after leaving the tutorial. Killing the little wurms to defend the battery is really boring when there is a giant wurm just behind us that we can’t hit.

One of the things GW2 does really well is to give us these large scale open world boss fights that are exciting to play through. This fight gives us a giant boss and then tells us to fight something else while a golem has all the fun. Why couldn’t this boss include some more engaging mechanics, like using the water buckets and gliding over the lava to drop the bucket and cool it to lock the wurm in place so the golem has a clear shot at it? Why can’t we at least fight the wurm ourselves instead of settling for its minions?

Not everything is going to be a Tequatl, but this could have at least been a Shadow Behemoth type fight.

You can hit it. Range when it’s spitting stuff and melee when the head is down. I did it the first time I saw the wurm and WoodenPotatoes video of the area has him attacking it. (There’s white numbers showing damage).

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

It’s been a huge disappointment to see the real fight after the trailer of Rising Flames.
Vermignus had the potential to be a new world boss. But it ended up being a lame defense event.

The Molten Dominator isn’t challenging as well, considering he’s a champion of Primordus. Then there’s the sloth queen – you’re not even able to be there on time because it’s gone so fast.

In the making-of video of Rising Flames they were talking about the deadliest map in Tyria. While the Fire Islands were pretty deadly in GW1, this is not the case in GW2. Maybe there’s still more to come. But Ember Bay was ridiculous in terms of difficulty.

Yes the new zone was a disappointment. There is not much reason to go there after a few days, then you have all 6 minis + backpack skin.
The events are mostly too easy.
The new weapon set is just purchaseable for gold. What a wasted opportunity to keep the map alive. Should have been similar to ambrite weapon collection in terms of difficulty.

One of my 30 accounts (Malediktus.9250).

Yeah, the sloth queen was extremely disappointing. There’s no way to prevent her from eating the slublings, even though the NPC seems to think there is (is there?). The food delivery mechanic doesn’t seem to do anything, and she dies so fast that I’ve only ever seen her breakbar phase once (yes, she actually has one).

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos

The fights in both Bloodstone Fen and Ember Bay are mundane and unimaginative. I would surmise that anets good monster designers are all working on the xpac. Its a pity because I’m actually enjoying the story.
