Well I applaud the intent of the living world and find Bazaar of the Four Winds to be somewhat enjoyable compared to all the past “Living World” updates, I’m just not liking the story. These characters are rather flat and I don’t really care what happens. If they consider this to be equal to an expansion worth of content they are mistake. I’d say all there patches add up to one WoW patch. (Not to compare games) These patches need to be bigger and better (With permanent Content) And please make the story more interesting! All these loose ends literally DOZENS of loose ends just sitting out there. This gets me to an expansion. How do they plan on adding new classes, continents, and races, with the living story. If all these zones are temp, whats the point? Why no more zones with SP, vistas, and Dynamic events. Wasn’t that going to be the core of the game? This could end very bad, or very good.
I came into guild wars 2 thinking I’d see new places in the GW2 universe that were a mystery in gw1, see the conclusion of many story arcs and watch the map slowly grow bigger and bigger as the world expanded. The first new zone I really like is going to be gone in 4 weeks? Then what… A election battle in LA (Hinted from the pic). What about the dragons? What about Elona, Cantha, Utopia, and all the other lands in north Tyira. I think its clear by the positive response from this new Zone, Going to new places is a GOOD thing. Not having everything centered around Inspector whatever in LA. Show some love for the Other capital cities and make it EASIER to follow the living story, not with mail. Please consider an expansion, they create so much hype and excitement that would bring positive attention to the game.

I don’t think we need one. The concept is good, the content, as they said, is experimental. If all this meh “story” and “content” finally turns into something meaningful with a decent overarching story and real and permanent content (aka DEs in the open world and not checkboxes), it would be the best thing an mmo ever did. It doesn’t even have to be amazing, just better than what it is.

As far as I’m concerned, an expansion right now would put a nail in the coffin for this game. There’s zero reason i’d buy it. And between an expansion and a new mmo next year, i’d go new mmo. You can’t sell expansions without a solid foundation.

Give me game. Not grind, not gating, not RNG, not +stat junk, not checklists.

I wasn’t clear on my point sorry, I think atm this content is fine but long term, they have no plans for one. I don’t think this content every 2 weeks is equal to an expansion which they claim it to be. Especially if the new zones aren’t permanent

I dont think they have anything set in stone yet. What they are doing is experimental and they arent sure who it will play out exactly yet. They certianly aren’t going to commit to an expansion when they arent 100% sure where their current release model will take them in 8 months time and what lessons they learn during that period.

Really they have only been at this for a few months and most of that time they have been restructuring their business. Id say its hard to really be sure what the LS is going to look like in the long term and the scale of the content it will deliver. They seem very commited to this path at this point (restructuring your workforce isnt easy or cheap) so I suspect they will put everything they can into making it work.

I am going to take a wait and see approach and give them a chance to try and pull it off in a satisfying way.

I find this patch very light on new content, actually. Where are they pumping it out like crazy?

It would have been awesome if they had placed the kites in NEW mini-dungeons instead of re-using old content (especially since they already did that with Dragon Bash too).

It’s actually ok for me since I havent been to all of them yet, but several people brought it up as a way to pretend you have added alot while in truth they only added a couple of skritt npcs and a kite in several place that were already there. And they are right with that.

No, we don’t. It’s waaaaay to soon for an expansion.

I don’t even have all the cultural armors yet.

I don’t even have one single legendary yet.

It is much to soon, I would like an expansions in 20+ months. Anything before that will be too soon.

Are you Shpongled?

What we need is more information of the story. Like a living world event book, like the one we have for personal story.

I feel as if many people are in favor of what Anet is currently doing and I find that baffling. The Living Story has been for the most part entirely underwhelming. It hasn’t exactly been “bad” but in terms of content, there hasn’t been much. Especially if you weren’t there for many of these arcs. Their current model of making everything temporary in some backwards attempt to make the word seem more alive is terrible. If you’re a player that takes a break for a few months, you’re not coming back to a bunch of new things, you’re coming back to the world exactly as you left it because all of that added content has been removed. The game needs more dungeon content, more weapons/armor to get outside of RNG boxes from the gem store, more areas to explore, and more in-depth pvp and WvW. All of this can be achieved from an expansion. Not from the Living Story. At the rate that they’re putting out content, it just isn’t feasible to believe that what Anet is currently doing is enough and that an expansion isn’t necessary. It’d take years upon years for them to accomplish this at their current rate.

We do need an expansion. The OP doesn’t mean NOW, but to have one at least in the works to come out some time next year. So far comments from NCsoft/Anet have led me to believe that this won’t be the case and that’s very disappointing. I don’t feel that this game will hold onto its player base if it takes much longer than that.

Obviously. What they’re doing with the living story isn’t too shabby at all. But without a massive boxed expansion on the horizon, they might as well shut down the game. I’m sure they realize this already and have been working on it for quite some time. Colin did make it quite clear that the living story team is only a fraction of the developers they have.

Expansions are vital, because just imagine Primordus introduced in a F&F style living story update. Talk about weak.

I will never play WvW until Map Completion there is removed.

IF we dont need to wait for an expansion for new weapons for each class. For each class to get dual wield skills. And for new utilities then we dont need an expansion. they are pumping out stuff like crazy.

I think we’ve gotten a few class balances and one new skill for necromancers in around 6 months. We’re going to need an expansion. They may be releasing stuff like crazy, but it’s all very light and sometimes heavily bugged content.
