When does S2 Start again?
there will be a mad kings halloween an a wintersday as it comes in october and december. as for the living story no word that i know of except keep checking for info
(edited by Sonja Teh Trapper.7012)
I’m thinking not until after the WvW tournament. This will give everyone an opportunity to participate.
pretty sure they said they will announce when soon after the feature pack rolls out, my best guess would be november but like i said its a guess.
“In Fall” was their official answer. My guess is that it will start up again after Halloween (4 weeks of WvW S3, and then 2 – 3 weeks of Halloween ending on 31st Oct).
Kinda kittens me off; they where back for a few patches a from a large break and already on another large break.
Looks like a hint to hire more staff to cater to more parts of the game to me, rather than waste thousands of dollars on PvP tournaments and such
More staff is always a nice thing to have, but keep in mind that the PvP/WvW players are already complaining that PvE gets the lion’s share of updates (and we do). They would not be pleased at the thought of getting even less attention than they already do.
Those ‘fortnightly updates’ isn’t really true. It’s 4-5 short story contents 2-3 times a year.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Can’t complain. Give’s me some time to catch up. Been away for a while.
Hi there,
We haven’t made an official announcement yet when the Season 2 will start again. Please make sure to follow us on social medias (see icons at the bottom of forum and website pages) or to regularly check the website for any future announcement.
Thank you.

Hasn’t been true since about December, IIRC, I don’t think they’ve said anything about fortnightly updates in quite a while.
I hope they get back onto season two soon, “taking a break” after just four updates is surprising to me.
For those of you dying to know what the future holds: Living World Season 2 will be going on break for a while as we count down to the arrival of the September 2014 Feature Pack. You can look forward to the return of Season 2 in autumn https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-the-september-2014-feature-pack/ and if you didn’t know Autumn is September, October and November. September is unlikely due to I am sure they will be extremely busy with wvw + the feature packs with bug fixes and stuff like that

We’re still planning to send emails notifying players about the releases, closer to the dates, but we usually only do that very close to the release.
Stephane, can you say whether there will be content updates beyond the two normal holidays in between now and the next living story update, or will it just be a period of very little activity for the next month or two? Don’t need any details whatsoever on what they might be, just want to know whether we should expect not to see new stuff for awhile like over the past month.

but this is what i mean by lack of communication. im sorry but im sure the whole studio knows when its going to go live but do your gag order we have to wait til the higher ups say they can release the info when they should have released this info when they announced the feature pack and the ls was going to go on a break. to tell the truth you might as well not even posted in thread it ticked me off more that you did
November the 4th according to Dulfy.

This is ridiculous! You took three months between season one and two, then season two ran for only 4 releases and now you’re taking another three month break?
What the hell are people supposed to do without Living World releases?
Well don’t forget that the WvW stuff is only a month long and then we still have the Mad King Halloween that usually ends Oct 31st. If you look at the dates the 4th is the next Tuesday after Halloween.

WvW is pretty irrelevant when it comes to the Living World (and I personally find it dull). The Mad King will be what, the same content as last year? With a tweak or a bug-fix to an event here or there?
Both of those sound like something that should just run in the background while the Living World carries on.
Idk, Mad King was significantly different last year than the year before, we could see a similar progression in it this year.

Eh, maybe, I didn’t think there was all that much in new content last year they replaced the scavenger hunt with a much shorter one and a couple of brief instanced encounters.
I am expecting something more like the return of the Festival of the Four Winds. Minor tweaks.
Is this the tempo we can expect for living world releases- 2 months on, 3 months off?

Everything with the Bloody Prince was new last year; so that would be the story instance, the new scavenger hunt, all the interactions between the Mad King and the Prince during the Lunatic Inquisition, and new weapon and armor skins.
Plus the patch last year had a lot of things completely unrelated to the event with it. All of those sorts of things have been moved to Feature Patches, so the event patch(es) should mostly just be for the event itself. Because of that I don’t think it’s too crazy to think they might have more planned for this year. Plus they also can break it up into two October patches.

There’s WvW coming up. Also they need the time to fix the cluster f*** that was the patch.

Called it!
It looks like ArenaNet does not want the Living Story releases to coincide with either the WvW Tournaments or the festival contents (unless the festival can be incorporated into the story).
This suggests that Season Two will probably also take a break during December (Wintersday). This means:
- Episode 5 on November 4th;
- Episode 6 on November 18th;
- Episode 7 on December 1st;
- Wintersday starts on December 15th (possibly merged with Episode 8);
- No new content on December 29th (ArenaNet staff has time off for the holidays too);
- Living Story continues on January 12th.
My expectation is that Season 2 will not be finished by the end of 2014, but will continue through spring 2015. It may conclude in time for the start of the next WvW Spring Tournament. I expect about 10-13 episodes in total.
Also, the zone portal image in the announcement suggests the opening of a new explorable zone, which will probably complete before the Wintersday intermission.
Finally, I predict the return of Dragon Bash in Spring 2015, celebrating both the end of Season 2 and the grand reopening of the new and rebuilt Lion’s Arch.

Well, I don’t think any of that is happening because, according to the recent news post, “Blood and Madness will be returning to Guild Wars 2 on October 21 and remain active until the return of Season 2” so it’s Blood and Madness again, the same release as last year. This confirms that there will be no new content from August 12th to November the 4th then we will probably have two Season 2 releases. This will be followed by Wintersday which will run from December until mid-late January.
If you’re happy with that then that’s great, good for you, I on the other hand think it’s ridiculous how little they’ve actually delivered this year considering that this is pretty much their way of retaining people in PVE.

Yea.. It’s quite the disappointment
I think it is worth noting that the “mid season break” will be lasting longer than the first half the season – and the actual content delivered in the first half, while compelling, was far less (imo) than that delivered through almost any 2 month periods in season 1.
This is a very bad trend for the PVE aspect of the game.
There must be a big proportion of the community now that has
- finished with LS2 achievements
- no goals in PvE
- no goals in PvP or WvW
- no desire to collect different types of junk
- unwilling to start new characters with all the unlocking
- unwilling to wait until November
I’m assuming it isn’t just me who is thinking this.

Not to mention those with no interest in WvW tourny or PvP, like myself. Anet doesnt beleive we exist, that or they dont care
Does this mean the next bit of patched content we will see will be the 22nd of October for Halloween?
It might be even sooner, like October 1st. It hasn’t been very clear when the updates will be.
Yep, there is no reason to log in. I quit playing about 2-3 months ago. There are a lot of other good games coming out or out now. Just let’s hope there will be something substantial in the future. Otherwise I can’t see me coming back to this lackluster non-update-fest.
