During Living Story 2, Rytlock borrowed a crown in order to use it in his attempt at a ritual to purge the ghosts from Ascalon with the promise to return it afterwards as it’s an object of significance for the humans.

Since then, the topic of it has never even come up. By this point, shouldn’t we have asked about it? If he lost it in the mists, or wants to hold onto it a bit longer since he plans to try the ritual again, he would just need to say so. As it is, he comes across as a jerk.

Rytlock only made that promise to human PCs. If the PC is any other race, no such promise is requested or given.

I’m not sure when you think the topic (along with other matters related to the ritual) should have come up. Things were a bit busy between the time of Rytlock’s return and the fall of Mordremoth. After that, we’ve only seen him briefly — under circumstances not favoring a discussion of irrelevant issues — before he got hauled back to the Black Citadel.

The whole matter of the Foefire and the counter-ritual is on a back burner right now, as it should be given that we have two elder dragons, a souped-up mursaat, a baby dragon, and a power-mad Confessor demanding our attention. Is this really the time to be worrying about the crown?

^Oh! Thanks for that post. I thought I must have totally forgotten/missed this crown business. Good to know I didn’t, as I rarely play any story episodes as a Human.

The agreement was that he’d return the crown once the Foefire had been reversed. It hasn’t been reversed yet, ergo according to the agreement not only does he not have to, he actually shouldn’t.

I’d like to see a follow up on this. But I’d also like to see Logan get Magdaer as well. After all, Eir did take it to have it repaired for him.

Well, we all know how far asking him will get us.

I wonder if he still has it? I mean I gather that his trip to the mists were somewhat eventful.

Besides, who should be give it to? A charr giving the Ascalonian crown to a human might be construed as a political statement or endorsement… it might be best if it was lost in the mists, I think.

Unless your local smith is a god, I doubt he’s going to be able to make a crown like the one needed for the ritual. The gods made that one as one of the gifts they gave to Doric. If Rytlock lost it in the Mists, that doesn’t bode well for ever being able to undo the Foefire.

Meh, those ghosts did it to themselves. they had a chance to make a new life over the shiverpeaks or stay and fight a futile fight that would’ve endlessly repeated itself by pushing borders with the charr. I know what I would’ve chosen.

I don’t think Rytlock particularly wanted to help the GHOSTS. I think he wanted to help the charr by evicting the ghosts.
