I still have about 4-5 thousand of them left over from the Festival.
At the next Festival that includes the Gauntlet?
Only useable in the Queen’s Pavilion, which is closed until the next Festival.
But when it was up, you could only spend them to run the gauntlet, which was both annoying and way too time consuming. It would have taken be hundreds of hours to get through all those tickets. They need a way to just convert them into something useful, even at an exchange rage of less than a copper per ticket.
Trash them. Even if you had spent them in the only way possible (Queen’s Gauntlet), your return would have been far less than running dungeons using that same amount of time.

Well, with four gambits five thousand tickets would have been a thousand fights, a Zerk warrior against Hamli only takes roughly 30 seconds per round (time on the catwalk talking to NPCs included, assuming you had an arena all to yourself with nobody else in queue), so the total would come to… 8 hours and 20 minutes. Even if you took a full minute per round that would still be 16 hours and 40 minutes, so it would have been doable if you slowly chipped away at it over the course of a month rather than saving it all up until the end.
Now if the blade shard vendor taught us anything it’s that post-event conversion will be an afterthought at most, so you can keep the tickets to do the gauntlet next time for a pathetically low chance at something decent, keep them in the vain hope there will be a ticket vendor (who will give you trash that isn’t worth the space you wasted holding onto the tickets for), or simply save yourself the grief and trash them.

Yes they do need to find a way to convert them, Anet needs to do alot of things like all these pointless crafting materials and the same boring kitten loot we get over and over. I swear it seems like they want to stale us to death like bread
Yeah, I do wish there had been a vendor we could just trade the tickets in. I appreciate that ANet wants us to try different game modes, but if someone didn’t like doing the Gauntlet, the tickets were essentially worthless. It would be like doing a dungeon and then getting a reward item that could only be redeemed if you won a tPvP match, or completed a hard jumping puzzle. If you don’t like doing those? Tough luck, you get nothing.
The gauntlet tickets were a bonus item in addition to any other practical rewards you got (unless you traded in tokens for them, in which case, why?).
It’s a lot like the sand in this LS chapter.
If you just trash the tickets, you don’t really lose anything, because you probably weren’t farming for them in the first place if you weren’t going to use them. Just like with the sand, if you don’t get anything in them, you don’t really lose anything because you probably didn’t farm specifically for them (and if you did, why?).
Besides, you can’t really expect any even half-decent rewards for just trading them in, because that’d be like spitting in the face of anyone who used them and just got a smallish pile of tokens to show for it.

Still, I don’t like the idea of anything being handed out that’s worthless. Everything should have at least junk value.

Agreed, there is a lot of other stuff we gathered from past releases that doesn’t worth anymore. Yes, some of them we weren’t really hoarding or going after (like gautlet tickets, piles of sand, etc) but other we DID (like festival tokens [luckily this one was brought back in this release], found belongings, cyphers, ugly clothes [these can come back, but who knows..]). I’m sure someone out there yes were after these stuff at some point. Now the leftovers of that effort will become useless? Hmm..
The only mistake they’ve made with these sort of thing so far is making the voting tokens sellable afterwards. They never should have done that.
As for the tickets I see no reason for the same thing happening. The Crown Pavilion is going to be returning at some point so the tickets’ original purpose remains the same.

I had a stack or so left over from last year. If they roll over to next year, I’ll end that event with twenty stacks instead of ten stacks. They need a way to burn them faster than doing the Gauntlet.
I have loads of these things. I only save them (from last year and this year), I guess, hoping they will be worth trading for something….some day. Lol.

You really should have used them up. I made more money during Gauntlet than 4 months of farming. I made at least 2000g just picking up all those monocles and chaos recipes.
Save those gauntlet tickets for next year.
Ha ha. I’ve been classified on the forums as a ‘bad’ player, so the Gauntlet is beyond my capabilities. =P
Not to worry, I save everything. Still have the ‘Soggy Piece of Something’ from the first SouthSun attack. Lol.

I ran a few rounds, but honestly I couldn’t be bothered. After doing a few I just got super bored with it, it wasn’t quite faceroll enough that I could do it without paying attention, and yet not nearly varied enough that I would actually have fun paying attention to it. The two big problems to me was 1. the same boring environment each time, just a big flat ring rather than being able to move around a varied terrain, and 2. the delay between fights, setting up the fight conditions and waiting for other players to finish.
If they could change it so that you could queue up a dozen matches at a time and then do them one after the other with just enough time to heal up in between, then maybe.
Even better would be if they allowed us to “wager” on a match, like as it stands you can gamble a little, as in making the match harder with gambits, but it would be great if you could say “I bet I will win this fight, I will put 100 tickets on it.”
The base rate of return could be 1 reward for the base ticket, and then 1 reward for every ten tickets you gamble (so if you do a no-gambit run and wager 100 tickets you would get 11 rewards), and for each gambit it would reduce that difference by 2, so that one gambit and 100 tickets would cost 102 total and reward 15, 2 would cost 103 and reward 20, 3 would cost 104 and reward 29, 4 would cost 105 and reward 55, and 5 would cost 106 and reward 106. The more you risk, the more you get back, and it would allow you to dispose of hundreds of tickets per round (even though on anything less than five gambits would would be taking a loss over doing it the normal way).

Lol, same here. I still have some leftovers from some releases (cyphers, old clothes, gautlet tickets..) in hope they would be worth trading at some point… who knows… :/

Then you’re one of the lucky ones, I went through around 4.5k gauntlet tickets and only got one monocle (light), one recipe, one spore backpiece, and four hybrid minis. Gauntlet is a terrible way to make money unless you happen to be very, very lucky.
I really feel for you OP, this is a cruel, unforgiving world indeed.
