Now that the first living world is wrapping up, I think its a good time for speculation and suggestions for the next living world.

If you would be kind enough to suffer a small personal digression of mine I would like to state that I felt that this living world didn’t have a strong enough storyline to keep me interested. I feel like it would just end up as a small one line footnote on the bottle of the guild wars 2 storyline. I would like a plot with some twists and turns to it, with characters I can associate with and identify with, I want to feel their pain and hurt when they hurt and feel sad when they inevitably go away.

Anyways back on the subject, I would like to list some interesting and every anticipated speculation on which the new living story might be. I wish I could make a poll out of it, this would make a great poll.

- The crystal desert, everyone wants to fight Kralkatorik and the lich down there. Of course this most likely would be an expansion, but possibly a small area for us to explore with dragon and undead fighting eachother. Maybe escorting refugees (oh gosh more disappearing refugees) from the undead and branded. Also it could catch up on whats been happening the last hundred or years or so. I’m sure destiny’s edge wants some much deserved payback for the snaff incident. Also Jena should mind control Logan to run away again just for kicks and giggles. More destiny’s edge drama is always nice.

- The tengu, the bird people which is rumored to have been cut from gw2 before the release. It would be nice to have something of an exodus where we have to work diplomatically with them to convince them to exit their stronghold, or more possibly a plague develops which makes them have to open their gates to outsiders for help.

- The largos are an interesting race with only a few npc’s in the game. It would be awesome to see more on them, possibly revealing more info about bubbles the water dragon. Maybe having a small outpost they built be accessible. Interesting speculation.

- The kodan, polar bear people. More tribes migrating maybe and we have to help kill the icebrood which have taken over half the fleet. Also they are another candidate on the playable character list. They have all the animations, dancing jumping and the rest and flag carrying too. Not to mention skill trainers. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them as playable and having more of a storyline.

- The bandits/nightmare court/inquest triad in the maguuma wastes. I for one would really like to see some sort of expansion to the storyline on this mysterious section of the game. I’m really interested and am saddened by the lack on dialogue on what this is all about. Maybe tied in with the white mantle…

- Ascalon, it would be great to be able to explore more of the catacombs under ascalon and maybe have a jumping puzzle or dungeon breaking into the royal treasury, or exploring more of the catacombs, parts of which would be from gw1 (good times) and expanding on the story of the foefire. If you wouldn’t mind another personal digression, I would have liked the city to have been more like it was in gw1 and like in the book, but thats just me maybe.

- Following up on the refugee camps moving to karka world. There was a grawl tribe amongst them and I apologize for forgetting who it was but one person on the forums suggested the grawl worshipping the karka and then riding them into battle…. dun dun dun. It would bring that are back to life a bit.

- We can’t forget about the now-probably-abominations which are the dwarves. Centuries of battle scaring combat and strange repairs done to their limbs could be interesting to see. Maybe they succumbed and became dragon minions…. who knows. Or maybe, just maybe the old parts of the old asura capital become accessible or maybe even old dwarven cities.

- 8-bit invasion of rata sum. I had to put this in here because its such an awesome idea which my friend kaz came up with.

- Divinity’s Reach, the skullgate. For those who didn’t know, the last human city also has a large catacombs underneath it, lots of areas which have been forgotten with strong magics buried inside them… best of all no gravelings. Maybe the story can be about the hole in the middle of the friggin city. Now that would be awesome seeing a bunch of collapsed buildings and then going into the catacombs to see what did it. Sounds like a dungeon to me. Also why no repairs on the great collapse?

Well those are a few ideas which I feel would be awesome additions to the game. My notes are unambiguous, a great storyline that keeps me at the edge of my seat would keep me coming back for more and more.

Of course anet, being the awesome company they are, probably have the whole next month done content-wise.

Comments and additions to possible living story expansions would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for reading my mindless dribble!

I beleive I heard in a interview that the patch at the end of may will turn our attention to the fates of the refugees that got displaced. Several of the ones we helped recover items for will have their stories continue and we will get to find out what the consortium is up to trying to relocate them to Southsun Cove.

Apparently they have the next 12 months of Living Story planned out. As it progresses it will shot off plot threads that will develop into new stories. As it develops we will play and see the stories of several plots throughout tyria play out.

I dont know if they will be adding any new full zones at any time in the near future. I think they want to expand on areas already in the world. That doesnt mean we wont discover new smaller and instanced areas and we will see older areas have new things appear in them.

Personally I think one of the threads we will discover in this last chapter of Flame and Frost is we will discover that a third party was behind the Molten Alliance. We might not find out who they are straight away but I thing they will be an enemy that we will be clashing with into the future.

Where is the end of the lighthouse of the ark of the lion? réfugiers the go settle on the island? when will we see their city creek south sun?
The camp is kept like this?
and armor of our adventurers?
Otherwise, I like the story, I appreciate having the suites, although I find it a little short.

I want to know what will happen to us next month!

# Asura because I’m worth it!

Honestly, I’d say they need to focus the story more instead of touching here and there on all these different fronts. I’ve expressed my disappointment in the past with the direction they went with the dragons, but at the very least that does have a worthwhile core to build around. Going off on these side-adventures at times would be fine if that driving force remained omnipresent in the overall atmosphere and tone of the world. But it doesn’t. Instead it just feels like we’re met with a number of disjointed side-stories that, honestly, are neither compelling nor well-designed.

If I’m right about what the background behind F&F was, then I can see them trying to tie all these ‘extra’ bits together, but it feels like far too loose (and contrived) a connection for something that isn’t all that interesting in the first place.

So hopefully, they stop trying to do insular chunks and instead expand their scope to more massive, flowing arcs with a significant focus on atmosphere.

Gone for good after Halloween 2Ø12.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.

yeah exactly, its like the original star trek where you can watch any episode at any time and not miss anything.

And there isnt any rhyme or reason to it it feels like.

I completely agree
