Where will we go to in the next expansion?

With living world and Primordus moving south, and with him being heavily indicated as being the next dragon we have to fight, I wonder… I have always believed that the next expansion would either take us to the Crystal dessert or up north, but with Primordus moving south I don’t know anymore. Personally I don’t see Cantha as an option and would personally get really disappointed if we got Ember bay now and the rest of the fire islands maps in next expansion. So my question to you guys is, where do you think we will go in the next expansion? And will Primordus play a role in this, or will Anet take a 180 turn and take us somewhere else?

If we go for Primordus (and that is a big if, it may be a red herring after all) my guess is the Deldrimor Front and the Depths of Tyria.

If we go for both Primordus and Jormag in a Fire & Ice expansion (as some people are speculating) and if the second expansion is substantially bigger than HoT, I can see us going to both the areas I mentioned above and the Far Shiverpeaks.

I think the depths of Tyria could have potential, with grand cavern systems, u derground rivers, volcanic areas, lost asuran cities, spelunking and so much more.

I am also really looking forward to the Far Shiverpeaks. I love wintry lands and really cant wait to explore the lands again and have intense weather cycles affect the maps.

Cantha would indeed look awesome in the GW2 engine, but I remain unconvinced we will ever get a new continent. I hope to be very wrong!

Question is how many more maps will be uncovered before the expansion hits? We have no clue as to when that will hit and no real idea (yet) on how many parts to LS3 there will be so we have no idea on how many more maps will be uncovered BEFORE the expansion hits. (I mean so far for the price of the HoT expansion we have gotten 6 maps.)

There is another possibility. Since they can do whatever they want, we may kill Primordus during Season 3, I mean it’s really time to move on. There are 4 more dragons and after nearly 5 years only 2 are dead. With this pace (if they won’t change anything) we will be retired or six feet under

My guess is we’ll be going north.

They definitely seem to be hinting that Primordius will be the next dragon we go after and they seem keen to fill in the existing map rather than add new maps like they did in GW1, which means it will be somewhere on the continent of Tyria.

If we went to the Crystal Desert we’d have to confront not just Kralkatorrik but Palawa Joko since we’d be very close to (if not in) his territory and that would mean going to Elona…which I’ve just said I don’t think they’d want to do. But there isn’t really enough space for a new set of maps anywhere else except up north.

Also, Primordius has been under the northern edge of Frostgorge Sound since the end of the last time the dragons rose (in GW1 he was right by the Central Transfer Chamber which was north and east of Yak’s Bend). My guess is he’s only moved because he’s chasing Lazarus and after that plotline is resolved he’ll move back there.

(And come to think of it we don’t actually know it’s Primordius we’ve been chasing, just that it’s a very strong magical signal. It could be another Great Destroyer.)

Anet has said that Primordus has been moving around since he woke up (i.e. he’s been moving for 200 years).

I think they are doing a reverse order of the GW1 campaigns while still filling out the map for the original GW1 game. So this next expansion fill out the Ring of Fire Islands while going up to Eye of The North areas so we will be facing Primordus and Jormag at the same time. Which will then lead to Crystal Desert and Elona, where we will have to deal with the after effects of our deal with Palawa Joko back in GW1, and Kralkatorrik. Then on to Cantha, the Deep Sea Dragon, and whatever mess they have going on there.

After that I wouldn’t be surprised if Abaddon somehow returns.

It could be anywhere really. If Primordus is the target, he moves underground so he could pop up anywhere.

Personally I think at least part of the next expansion will venture into the Northern Shiverpeaks (EOTN area). He had a stronghold there. Even if he has left there, it might be the place to look for clues as to where he is now. If Jormag is involved, then certainly the EOTN areas will be involved.

Even though Primordus is “active” that doesn’t mean that is who we will fight next. Anet could be using his activity to throw us off. Hordes of speculators thought Jormag or Kralk would be the next dragon and it wound up being Mordy.

During one of the Season 2 instances in Silverwastes Trahearne actually says the Pact was planning to go after Kralkatorrik next, but Mordremoth started doing so much damage they decided they had to prioritise him.

But I’m not sure if that’s a hint or a reference to what players were already guessing.

Personally I’d love to go to the Crystal Desert and Elona. I was never happy with the decision to free Palawa Joko in GW1 and I’d love the opportunity to put that mistake right. (I’d also like to see the storyline with him and Mad King Thorn resolved.) I just think it’s more likely they’ll fill in the existing maps first.

I think the game line will follow that order as well. I am hoping we continue to get more maps, between 8-10 per expansion including its living season(s).

I don’t think they will risk that. They got an enormous amount of flak and negative feedback about how short HoT story was and how it made Mordremoth feel a lot less threatening. I don’t think a short skirmish and fight with Primordus, with little build up is going to go down very well.

Pacing is something they need to get right with the next Dragon. Mordremoth went from a 3 year build up to a sudden conclusion with loads of important hanging threads – the pacing was all wrong.

Primordus is also one of the most important Dragons (from a veteran pve player perspective) since he has been awake for the longest time, has connections to GW1 and ties into so many aspects of lore like Asuran history and the last of the Dwarves. Lots of players want to explore the potential in this and killing off one of the more iconic ED’s and moving onto Jormag or Kralk just squashes this potential completely flat.

They’ve lost a little bit of their mystique having two killed off already, but essentially machine gunning down the next en route to another takes an eons old threat and turns them into something rather pathetic I’d say.

Since some of the concept art has been dwarves, I’m betting on the Deldrimor Front for the xpack

I think where we are going in the next expansion is still anyone’s guess at the moment. Too many directions have been hinted at with the Living World,.

I will say it is unlikely that any dragon will be dealt with in the Living World, especially a much anticipated one like Primordus. I think this is why we have Lazarus, Arena Net know Scarlet was a failure in many ways and an antagonist like Lazarus is quite the step up.

My guess is Deldrimor and Primordus. What I want is Kralk and the Crystal Desert with season four of the Living World dealing with Palawa Joko as the main antagonist.
