Why 2 tickets for Abaddon's weapon set?
They know how many tickets are out there that people have been sitting on. They also know that people freak out when anything Abaddon is mentioned, so they are testing the market and glut of tickets to see if it will sustain the price increase.
With the last few sets being trash (key and lock skins.. really??)some people have a lot of tickets. I have 4,4 ticket, so i can buy 2 weapons straight up. But its kind of strange, yea, not everyone has 2 tickets yet.

I have seen them cost 3 tickets, 2 tickets and very rarely 1 ticket. They are just skins. They are not needed to play the game at all. You have a choice to buy them or not.

I have to disagree. For several years, if not always, new sets have always cost 1 ticket on release date, +1 for every subsequent set on its previous price, 3-5 for returned weapons.
And true, sherlock, theyre skins, its not a question of vitality, its an issue of MO and suddenly doing something outside MO
Always have cost 1 ticket for a new released set.
Staff Meeting:
- So, we have a new weapon set on the table for the next release. Management says we have to increase revenue. Ideas?
- Instead of having one ticket needed when the set is introduced, we could try requiring two. We always get the best response when sets are the hot new thing. Why not take advantage of that?
- People will just exchange more gold for gems.
- Yeah, but someone has to buy the gems. The exchange rate will spike, and that will create more incentive to exchange gems for gold.
- Yeah, and the exchange is a gold sink. John Smith will be happy.
- OK, so we run 2 tickets by MO?
<all> Yeah!
Meh I stopped looking to buy stuff with the tickets. The skins are absolute kitten for the most part.
These tantacles destroy the look.
I don’t mind the tentacles, but I wish they would wrap around the arm of the character like they’re securing the weapon into your hand. That would’ve been cooler.
Not entirely thrilled with this set, tho. Some weapons look awesome, others not so much. Haven’t seen a truly epic-looking short bow for a long time. Even the longbow skins can’t compare to the ley line longbow I got for my ranger when those came out. I still get random comments from other players about how cool that one looks.

why is it 2 instead of the normal 1 ticket?

Of all the possible reasons, it’s by far the least likely. If ANet wants more money for gems, there are far better and more efficient ways. Simple adding an RNG drop for a nostalgia skin had much bigger impact.
Sometimes, they think certain skins “deserve” a higher price. I think it’s a mistake on their part, but it’s not a crazy idea that skins that took more work should cost more.
