I usually play games for the story, for the adventure, for the lore and exploration and this is why I enjoy playing GW2. After beating my Personal story on 3 characters, and beating LS2 on 3 characters, and beating HoT story on 3 Characters, I am NOW ready to see what will happen in LS3. I expect the production value and story telling is going to improve greatly because of the length they are taking to make it. I also imagine our character will be speaking like from HoT story due to it’s popularity. I hope some of our personal story characters will show up from original pre-expansion. I miss my friend Quinn on my human character, the friend I saved from bandits. I wonder how he is doing? And what about That Egg? It hatched right? So will we go back to check on it? Is Mordermoth really dead? If so what other problems will we face? What is Tiami doing back in Rata Nova? My guess is we are going to fight the Primordus next. Oh I just can’t wait.

=) It’s been too long since we had any main story content so I’m hoping they give us MORE than last year considering how long it’s taking for it to release since the release of expansion pack.

You must be one of the few who would pick up a MMO game for story. Have you tried some single player games?

Im slightly interested in ls3, but after HoT and the deliberate direction to cut all the interesting stuff out, I am beginning to lose interest. Whilst production and dialogue is certainly improving, it is well below the standard for what Anet should be capable of.

I would prefer the gw1 style of individual campaigns, but I think that ship has sailed.

Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised by the length and quality of ls3 though.

So far the HoT story has failed to deliver in story, scope and longevity. My concern is LS3 that they have been working on in favour of legendary weapons is going to be the same. We will see a few days of content where the story is mediocre at best.

Sadly, it means nothing. It could mean they are putting very little manpower on it right now and having most of their devs working on the expansion instead.

I don’t expect much from it myself. It will most likely only serves as a sales pitch for the next expansion, like the previous LS was.

Of course I play single player games.
But I like good story presentation in an MMO where I can play with real people too.
That’s why I like GW2.

I know some people who have never enjoyed any of the storylines in GW2. They find the personal story, season 1, season 2 and HoT to all be too short (each individual section anyway), too disjointed and too easy to complete and don’t like the characters or the style of writing. If you’re one of those people then I think it would be reasonable to assume Season 3 will be the same.

But I’m the opposite – I’ve enjoyed all of the storylines we’ve had so far. No, it’s not the greatest storytelling there has ever been, or even the best I’ve seen in a video game. But I’ve enjoyed playing through it and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it.

I particularly want to know what will happen after HoT. My guess is there’s going to be a lot of political fall out from the Pact’s actions. We persuaded all the races to send soldiers to join us, put together a huge (and presumably expensive) assault force and then got almost all of them killed in one go. We were eventually able to defeat the dragon but the fact that in the end it only took a relatively small force (even including the people doing the Dragon’s Stand meta-event which in lore is happening at the same time) only reinforces the idea that the big attack was a mistake.

In other words a lot of people aren’t going to be happy and with the Pact currently leaderless and Destiny’s Edge mainly out of action the player character looks set to take the blame.

These new events seem to be pointing towards things falling apart a bit back home too. There’s increased activity from the bandits, the other dragon minions and probably other groups before LS3 starts.

On top of which there’s the unanswered question of what will happen with Glint’s egg, and 4 other dragons still to sort out.

In other words there’s a lot going on right now, and I’m excited to see how it’s going to play out.

I vote for a balanced MMO rather than plain PVP or plain PVE.It’s nice to have things delivered equal.I wish they will not blow this up like they did with legendary part of the deal … considering they have just/plus “6-man” working on this…

I’m looking forward to LS3 but not particularly for the story. I rarely get involved in the story-lines of these sort of games. I play through them but don’t really pay any attention to the details!

If this your honest opinion and not you trolling, then I pity you.

MMOs have to have a broad appeal in order to maintain a large player base. This means people playing the game for reasons different than yours. Also, you forgot the RPG part of MMORPG. RPG is as synonymous with narrative as it is with stat progression.

P.S. I love the narrative in this game and am eager for more, too.

I just hope LS3 is in the living world somehow like LS1. I really enjoyed event bosses like Marrionette (sp?) And save LA events and scarlet etc. LS2 was fun but it’s basicallly single player mode now.

I hope for LS3, that Naet uses the chance now to return this game with it a bit more to some good nostalgia, because i think this would return for many people which already quitted with this game over the last years the interest into GW2 so that they might come back and become again active players.

With the last raid its ovbious, that the White Mantle seems to make its return (and maybe also the Mursaat) and the lastest events give me the impression, that with bandits showing now lately again more activity the scenarion will be set more about the return of the white mantle and the bloodstones/Mursaat to let that LS season lead us slowly then either to Kralkatorrik and the crystal desert where maybe the current hideout of the White Mantle could be together with tons of krals minions and undeads from Elona/Mordant Crescent that might patrol aroudn there too in the near, or maybe could lead us finally to more infos about the deap sea dragon as a surprise and maybe a return of the Scepter of Orr/Livia – that would be my personal wish dream, that Net surprises as with the next elder dragon with one, that we wouldn’t expect next, because basically no one would expect as next dragon the DSD or primordus for example. Everyone seelfs to be so sure about it, that Kralkatorrik will be next, so I think a living world season 3 that sets us surprinsingly onto a completely different path mixed together with some good nostalgia from GW1 is I think right now exactly the right thign what GW2 needs to revive the hype for GW2 and brign back also alot of lost players at the same time by rekindling their interest into the game that way.

For me personalyl it has be over the seen 4 years that this game exists soon way too quite about the DSD, we have received about it absolutely no infos at all in all of this time, other that its name begins with S…

wow, seriously???

I think its more than overdue, that we get to see more about it and to fight next agaisnt an total unknown elder dragon I think is also far more intriging and interesting ,than to go agaisnt Kralkatorrik now, again into deserts and wastelands, which we had already with mostly all of season 2 already. I think deserts and wastelands can take for now a brief break, before we return to that kind of maps, until we are done with the DSD and Anet has used that chance to rework also the whole underwate combat content of this game together with LS3..

Also I can’t think of any other magical artifact in the whole world of Tyria, that is powerful enough to force the DSD out of his advantageous realm – the sea, than the Scepter of Orr, which was already in the past powerful enough to sink and rise whole kingdoms – so huge land masses of the size of an elder dragon easily … and we all know, that Livia still lives, as shes since she owns the Septer basically as Necromancer through its extreme powers immortal and her whereabouts are just completely unknown so far.

I could think of her as one eternal guardian, that protects the most powerful magical artefacts, including the scepter of orr from ever gettign into the fangs of the elder dragons, so that they can’t eat them to absorb their magical powers to become more powerful and that we maybe have to fight her somewhen as some kind of heroic trial to proof her, that we have the power, the will and the courage to overcome all kinds of threats to ensure, that we protect Tyria from the elder dragons to convince her to help us fight agaisnt the DSD by luring it with the help of the scepter into a trap to get th dragon into a position, where we can fight it at least on equal conditions.

Brief said, I’m excited for LS3.. I play this game mainly for its story and I’d love to see the story progressing soon again to see, how it guides us slowly into an epic finale that leads us to Expansion 2 then

I’m thrilled about the blood and wine expansion that is coming out for the Witcher 3. Not so much for Season 3 in GW2. So far Season 2 of the living world was somewhat a diamond in the ruff, when it came to narrative direction in this game. However it still had flaws that autocratically put up red flags for me that the storyline for Heart of Thorns was going to dreadful. Of course they proved me right. Especially when they pivoted back to the shoddy main plot writing they have been known for since GW2 launched.

All because it went around their agenda. By rushing another semi-finished product out the door. Don’t kid yourself. When it came to the HoT story there was a lot of cut narrative content. Afterwards we were treated like it was intentional, so they could make a “summer blockbuster movie,” structured narrative. I take that excuse with a grain of salt. I bet you if they had more time allocated Act 3 & 4 would have been much better. Finally I want iterate I am talking about story structure over game-play. Since HoT and some of Season 1 (minus the temporary content bit) did structure that better then anything else.

Having missed seasons 1 and 2 of LW, due to a lack of investing myself in the game (I’ve only recently completed the personal story, despite owning GW2 since just after launch), I’m looking forward to climbing onto the bandwagon.

Coming back to the game a various points and finding the world changed in a number of ways was 1. Interesting but also 2. Kind of alienating. I completely approve of naturally evolving the game world through dynamic story-telling, but being able to get on the story train at the first station is infinitely more enjoyable.

So I’m looking forward to that.

I hope ANet also makes somewhen finally the reintegration of Living World Season 1 as they planned to do that….

We haven’t sadly heard anythign much about this anymore since a longer time from them…but somehow Ive the feeling, its somethign they have already silently put on ice again, like some other things we know … sigh

What, exactly, should they say? ‘We still want to integrate LWS1, but have no plans to do so, at this time’, yet, again? Their stance on the matter hasn’t changed, through all the posts/announcements/statements made, since first broached.

If they decide to bring back Season One, I’m sure they will let us know…once it’s ready to play.
