Q:
Why can't living stories stay in the game? D:
Does the celebration for the fourth of july stay all year long?

Ya know, I love fireworks, as well. But, about 10 years ago I moved to within 5 minutes of Disneyland. I can’t tell you the last time I looked out the window at 9.30pm. Even the greatest things get old with over-exposure. =(
I hate temporary content, and with these living stories adding cool and exciting mini games to play and explore just kills the purpose of taking your time to do it. I feel like I need to rush through to get all these achievements done and not enjoy Dragon Ball. Why?
I’m tired of people saying they feel rushed to complete mindless “achievements” rather than enjoy the game. People need to rethink what the F they are doing.
I am, however, all for keeping these group instances. Tweak them a bit to fit the existing standard and put them in the Fractals rotation. We already travel time and space in Fractals, so it’s not far fetched to relive these instances.
Mini games? I’ll never understand the desire to cram a bunch of other games into an existing game. However, if it’s what you enjoy, than go enjoy it. Looking at past achievements, they all seem to just come naturally with playing the mini game they’re for.
This has always been the issue I have with Living Stories
if I cannot keep it, I do NOT want to have it.

I think the way it is right now is perfect. I also used to think the temporary content was a bad idea I actually hated it! But then I realized it’s Anet’s way of keeping the content fresh a fresh and exciting.
It’s funny how people love holidays like halloween and wintersday, but hate temporary content that isn’t tied to anything in particular. I do wish they had more focus on permanent things though. Colin keeps saying they are working on permanent stuff as if that was the plan all along, but I think it’s more like they heard the complaints and decided to change things up.
Perfectly agree with op.
Its the reson i am rushing the game and cant settle with 1 class at a time.
I have to hurry up and level to max and explore and kitten, because then i cant take part in “events”.
By the way, i actually HATE halloween and kitten…and i like story and living world…
i think it is fine if minigames and also some special dungeons are temporary. permanent minigames are dead after a few weeks (see Keg Brawl for example). Dungeons do now provide really “epic” rewards that are unique after the event is gone (the Monocle, or the Molten Alliance Backpack thing). This is actually what some people really want. Price for Monocle will go up and up after the event is gone. Nice for everyone who got one or bought one now while those are “cheap”.
I don’t see why the Bazaar can’t be a recurring event, just like a holiday. This is a airship market that travels the world trading with the people where it docks, right? Sounds like it should cycle around.
In fact, it would be kinda cool if it visited the other cities, drawing people there. We could have the bazaar 6 months out of the year, one month in one of the main cities alternating with month off in “lands unknown” before it returns again to another of the main cities.
It’d be nice if they could give us a more definite answer about how and when some of these things are going to return, instead of vague mutterings that they might. It would certainly make it seem less like “if I’m going to participate, I better do it NAOW!”
Then again, the monitizing department probably wants that sense of urgency.
