With the announcement of the return of the Queen’s Gauntlet and Zephyrite Sanctum, I’ve seen several people saying they are excited to get their sovereign weapon skins/zephyrite helms/rucksacks/catchers that they missed the first time. My question is why do so many people think these skins will return and be available? When have skins available from playing in-game events ever returned in the past? (the answer is never) Am I missing some post by Anet on twitter or something where they stated the skins will return, or do people just not learn?

I expect some people will mention Kasmeer’s/Majory’s weapons, and no, those were available from the gem store, not from in-game events.

I thought all of the skins were considered rare drops? It’s unclear what they mean by rewards from past events though.

Meta Achievement Skins were not rare drops, as anyone who completed the content received them. Most people are speculating that the events will be returning as they were previously (including achievements for them). And some back items like Catchers and Dragonfly Wings were handed out like candy during some events, so I would not consider them Rare. However ANet’s version of Rare could be much different than ours.

And while they did not previously bring back skins, they really didn’t have a reason too either as we didn’t have a Wardrobe Feature back then. Now that the Wardrobe is up and running, bringing skins back may also bring back players who may have missed some of the LS, but still want the skins. So it not only makes good business sense, but it also allows them to re-release gem store skins in order to increase revenue.

Did these events even come with any meta skins?

This. Meta Achievement awards from those Updates were the crystal and watchwork sprocket node.

The skins were obtained by 2 different ways:

Tradeable ones from rare rng drops and account bound skins from trading in fortune scraps and golden tickets.

Considering that you can still trade fortune scraps and tickets for those account bound skins with the vlack lion weapon specialist, i dont see, why fortune scraps and tickets wont be available this time around.

They also brought back previously released skins with the Ultimate Citizens Rescue Bag, most notably the Desert Rose and Rucksack Skin from the Bazaar event and the Molten Jetpack and Toxic SPore SKin.

If skins don’t come back (like if Dragon bash doesn’t come back next month) then I am glad I have one last Dragon’s Jade weapon claim ticket I am holding out on. I’ve made 50 gold or so on the other 4 I had, but the weapon I get with one will easily be worth over 200 gold even if they aren’t super particle producing weapons)

My gold is on the catcher skins and helmet skins coming back from that event (or newer better ones get made), since the whole point of the event to some people was to trade excess crafting materials for Fortunes to get those items. That living world update with all the vendors did ALOT to balance the game economy, so it is possible that this update will do the same.

I don’t really think this is how the Q&A feature is supposed to be used…

well that’s lame…

Something I just noticed recently is that there are now achievements related to the acquisition of skins due to the implementation of the wardrobe. While I haven’t done the math, I would suspect that unless some of these skins return that it would be impossible to gain the number required to complete the achievement.

I am only guessing but it could be a possibility. Of course I could be completely wrong.

Oh no, trust me. There’s MORE than enough skins in the vanilla GW2 to account for 1000 skins for the achievement.

But as to the OP, now that the Wardrobe is released, it would make sense for old skins to return so players who missed out on them the first time can obtain them again. The Sovereign weapons would also make for a good gold/material sink since players who wanted them before, but didn’t get them due to space restrictions, can now just buy them and stick them in the Wardrobe.

Here’s why we think they will return:
