how long do we have to play new LS episodes?
When an LS episode is out, you have two weeks to login them and therefore unlocking them. As long as you login during this two week time-frame, you will unlock the episode on all of your characters and you can play it whenever you want.
Thanks for the reply. When you say “login them”, just logging on my account at all during the two weeks is enough to unlock them, or I have to play through them once?

Cool, that’s convenient. Is it worth buying part 1 of the LS before playing part 2? I mean, of course I would like to, but it is like $20, and I could read a synopsis for free, right?
Currently part 1 LS is unavailable. And by part 1 I am assuming you mean season 1, the while thing with Scarlet.

Just logging in is not always enough. You will actually want to verify that the episode has unlocked, so login and actually click the button to open the episode. You don’t need to actually play it however, you just want to verify it is playable.
I have seen some people mention this problem. I’m guessing that it’s caused by having a full queue. When your mail/trading post pickup is full, instead of the episode unlocking, it will say it costs 0 gems but cannot be purchased. When this happens, you will need to empty your queue before it will unlock.
You do need to fully log in during the active time, as in load a zone of the game. That can be longer than two weeks; Chapter 7 lasted through Wintersday.
You can experience it all for free if you find someone who has it unlocked and is willing to run through it with you. You won’t have control over the dialogues or item interactions, and you won’t get achieves or rewards, but you’ll at least see the content.

If you mean the earlier part of season 2, then yes I’d say so if you want the story to make as much sense as possible (and also the early part if pretty good fun and breaks you into it better).
As pointed out, season 1 is unavailable since it was temporary content and presented utterly differently to current content, so that story is gone outside of reading a catch up guide. (they may reproduce it in a new playable form though one day)
