I don’t do a lot of pve stuff… I spend nearly all my time in wvw but sometimes we run out of people to kill and eotm is all one colour… so it is off to pve for a bit to allow our foes to recover.

SO… I do this living story thing and do the third part of the story last night and get my reward bag for getting the achievement… I never expect much from these rewards but usually I get a couple of rare materials and some green weapons to salvage for luck points.

BUT… this time I get 8 globs of globby goop (junk) – seriously Anet? That is the reward for doing that achievement?

I’ve been playing this game since Beta and have yet to get a precursor… then I see people who get three precursors in one week… but to get 8 globs of globby goop for an achievement reward is taking the kitten.

You are ignoring the fact that you got a rather large amount of Champion Bags and other stuff when completing the different parts of the release. Those should also be considered.

Nope.

Here is why: By doing the various pieces of the story, you attained a reward in the form of item X, Y and Z.

The reward he talks about requires you to complete the entire story segment, thus it is separate.

The Living Story rewards are in part set up like the new PvP Reward Track rewards. You’ll get containers of loot that give you X number of rolls on the normal loot chart for a type of enemy. For the early Episode One parts where you fight Inquest, you get some Inquest loot boxes that give you loot rolls similar to killing, say, ten Inquest, except it’s all contained in the box. It’s done like that so they can keep the enemies in the instance itself from dropping loot, because they may spawn endlessly under certain conditions.

In all three episodes so far, the final bonus reward has always contained one guaranteed rare in addition to the random loot rolls. So yes, you might have obtained a lot of Globby Goop from the final reward bag after Foefire’s Cleansing, but there is also a rare in there. You just might not have immediately noticed it.. or you might have deliberately left it out to try to illustrate your frustration over getting such a poor roll on the rest of your loot as to get that much Globby Goop rather than some Crystalline Dust or other ghost loot rolls.

One note is the way these special loot boxes work, your Magic Find does affect them, unlike champ bags or world boss chests.
