So, which is the more likely first target?

Jennah was referenced through the locket, and she’s a powerful mesmer so there’s lots of magic to drain on.

Then again, Trahearne is a bigger threat and has a jummy magic sword to eat.

Jennah. The whole set up with her being last known heir of Kryta, but there actually existing someone else who’s an heir but no one knowing who it is (Human Personal story episode when you join one of the orders → listen to NPC talk before you talk to them; Order of Whispers guy states they suspect or know another heir exists).

So – amulet’s showing someone’s face, noone knows who it is.
My guess is we’ll be involved in finding this heir (I really hope it’s not Kasmeer :P – “I love what you are wearing! I must get a dress in those colors”)

Or maybe the heir will be targeted as well?

Trahearne I think fills a role that’d be hard to fill with someone else, so I doubt they’d kill him off. It would mean most likely the orders would become disorganized again, and I doubt that would happen at this point.

It would make sense for Mordremoth to target treaty negotiations I suppose, yet I wonder why Jennah is hinted at as very important. There might be something else there. Is this cause her throne is on a bloodstone shard?

Unfortunately, I don’t think they’ll hit Jennah so soon. She may be a powerful mesmer, but individual beings probably aren’t comparable to other things the vines could go for. Like, say, some of the channeling Skill Point locations which are supposed to be dormant energies which can be tapped by our characters?

Then again, Trahearne is a bigger threat and has a jummy magic sword to eat.

That sword is gone, though. Its energy was expended to cleanse Zhaitan’s grip on the Artesian Waters.

Wasn’t one of the older versions of the GW2 story about angels and demons or something?

Maybe when the queen is killed, an ancient human magic is broken allowing demons from the Mists to begin invading Tyria, and then we have take the Locket to the Blades… err Shining Blade, and help them track down the heir before the demons. Then the heir uses the magic of the locket to turn into Glint’s baby or something, I don’t know. Then, Glint Jr. gives us the power to head north and yell at Jormag until he dies.

Don’t you think there was already an attempt on Jennah’s life when she unveiled the Crown Pavilion? There are leaders thought Tyria, but I guess we would best look at who has the most effective resources to fight an elder dragon. Even though humans have rule in Kryta, they have not contributed any extra effort to fighting the dragons.
The Pale Tree has more invested in battling Modremoth than Jennah, as every one of her children have sprouted with at least the intent to fight elder dragons.
The Master of Peace is another possible candidate, if he has anything to do with the legacy of Glint. If he out there looking to save his people, that is.
Zephirites meeting those centaurs that are sympathetic to the teachings of Ventari may have been the most interesting part of the story for me. Makes me wonder if it was all still a coincidence they crashed where they did.

Fort Trinity seems to be the hub for Pact and it’s eluded to that Mord’s forces were in Concordia because of an artifact they held that pertains to Kryta. It is likely that Jennah would be first especially with Fort Selma in ruins creating a new staging point for the denizens of the Overgrowth.

I think Jennah is the target :

-The locket at fort Concordia.
-Scarlett already tried to assassinate her and was most likely controlled by Mordemoth.

I wouldn’t mind Trahearne dying : his hunt is completed, he is an Orr specialist, not that useful as far as other dragons are concerned and he is not that great of a general : he did what he could because he had to but that’s about it. If Mordremoth thinks like me I’d say he’s not in great danger ^^

I think Jennah is shaping up to be the target, but I wish it was Trahearne. It’s a possible missed opportunity if he doesn’t die, really. If you’ve ever been in or seen a situation where a lot of people go zerg mentality and enjoy ragging on one particular individual, then that person dies (I have actually seen this happen), well, it’s a scene of shame and regret that can’t easily be duplicated under other circumstances.

I myself have only experienced that sadness firsthand through Ace Combat (Chopper, nuuuuuu), but it makes for great storytelling, even if it’s not that rare of a trope.

Of course, some people will still say good riddance, but despite his woodenness, Trahearne as a character is a bro and probably doesn’t deserve as much flak as he gets.

I still think the best plot twist would be if they made this heir business a bit of a red herring and Trahearne ends up taking one for the team. Then with his dying breath, he bestows the task of protecting the Pale Tree to his trusty number 2, the player, who must now take center stage for true (and not just with this “hey ‘boss,’ say your next line so we can give you your next mission”).

In terms of storytelling , the Pact was always likely to dissolve so that fighting the remaining dragons becomes an adventures challenge, rather than just Pact with megalasers vs Dragon II, Pact with megabombs vs Dragon III, and so on. Trahearne was always going to be the person most likely to go to make the Pact dissolve.

Why not have both? Or all the leaders?

So let’s see here…we have

Asura: The Arcane Council
Sylvari: The Pale Tree
Humans: Queen Jennah
Charr: The imperators of the 4 high leagions? (I say 4 because the Flame is still considered a High legion…even if their leader is dead now because of us) Or the Khan-Ur if it ever get’s resolved now that the claw has been found.
Norn: Knut Whitebear as he currently is the leader of Hoelbrak?

You could even include the leaders of the major factions of Kryta as well
The Pact: Trahearne because well, he is the guy in charge of it.
The Vigil: Almorra Soulkeeper
Durmand Priory: Steward Gixx
Order of Whispers: The Master or Whispers

Having all of these guys targetted, or removed from play would really upset the balance of power in the dragons favour. So I guess it would be kinda nice to see a development like that happen, but also horrible in game as well
We shall have to wait and see.

It’s going to be Jennah they go after most likely. Only for Logan to attempt to save her, except our old friend Canach gets there first and saves her, so she dismisses Logan so he can go slay dragons.

I still want a plot twist where our character (regardless of race) is the heir. You know, one of those “forbidden love affair” type deals, with our character being the long lost child of somebody from the royal family. Cliche yes, but it’s Anet, expect cliche.

Oh no. What if the heir is Logan?!
Incest! Burn them alive!

Thinking on it, it could very well be possible that Logan IS the long lost heir (distantly removed). Think about it, we have a Chekov’s Gun in that Eir grabbed a broken royal sword from the Ascalonian Catacombs in hopes of fixing it and giving it to Logan. It still isn’t fixed, and it still isn’t given to him yet.

If Logan IS the heir, then by giving him the sword and having him sit on Adelburn’s throne, he will remove the curse from the Charr lands, something they have wished for. Knowing Anet, Rytlock will probably become the Khan-Ur. He already fits one of the two requirements, having done a feat showing of great power (he killed a dragon champion, and almost an Elder Dragon), with only the Claw of the Khan-Ur remaining as the 2nd requirement. This solidifies Human-Charr relations by having two sworn bloodbrothers ruling over their races, and gives a somewhat happy end.

…which makes me realize, IF Jenna is aware of all these possibilities, she could possibly be behind the seperatists as well as several other things, just to keep her role as Queen necessary against these ‘evils’, and prove nobody else is worthy of the thrown. Meaning she would be a Magnificent kitten to end all Magnificent kittens in this game.

What if the said leader is ourself?

Although Trahearne is leader of the pact, we are second-in-command. And while it was Trahearne’s doing that Orr is cleansed, it was our efforts that killed Zhaitan. In that sense, we are more of a direct threat to the dragons than Trahearne.

While Trahearne or Jennah might be involved, I doubt either of them will die, otherwise that will make the living story conflict with newer players or those have yet to do their personal story.

You, sir, have a beautiful mind.

Jennah is evil! I always thought she manipulated Logan into feeling like he was her one and only champion, basically tying her to him in eternal servitude. If you read the Edge of Destiny novel, after every feat Logan performs with the team, Jennah would send him this mail (almost typed email lol), turning the entire thing around and casting it in the light as if he’s done it for her, and how she relies on him, and how he’s her last protection against all evils.

Thus brainwashed Logan abandons the team while fighting the Dragon, and we all knows what happens.

Jennah doesn’t love Logan, she’s a coldhearted calculating ….h! If she’s behind separatists that’d be so delicious.

Doubt Trahearne will be targeted since he maybe the Pact Leader but he is not a Leader of Tyria.

Trahearne is a military leader and the reason we would go to him is so we can tell him to begin mobilizing the Pact for a war against Mordremoth.

As a military leader Trahearne fills in the role of….

-Leadership experience (He fought along side each Order before GW2 timeframe by aiding them through military planning against Zhaitan’s forces everytime he encountered the Orders. )
-Politics experience (result from his life time travel dealing with diplomatic issues on his journey)
-strategist experience (result from his life experience fighting against Zhaitan’s minions and aiding each Order before GW2 timeframe. Not to mention our character has a horrible reputation to get a lot of people killed with our choices.)

Things Trahearne lacks in is…

-Personality (one thing everyone can agree on due to his lack of personality during the Main Storyline)

- Combat experience (Despite having fought agaisnt Elder Dragon minions longer than our character, even he admits his skills are better suited in Desk jobs, Politics, and Strategizing military operations rather than fighting.)

If a Leader of Tyria is targeted I’ll guess it will be a Leader of a Race which is Jennah.

The mention of that locket totally surprised me, its presence just can’t be a coincidence! I think the target might be Jennah. Since with that in mind, that random ‘muahahahaa!’ Scarlet appearance on the Jubilee might have been not so random at all! I love it that this season has made me think ‘hmm wait a minute’ more than once. I’ve always felt that there was some sort of hard to explain mysteriousness over the GW setting, that gives it much of its appeal to me – I’m glad that they finally really started to bring that into the personal story!

Though they’d better not pull a Lion’s Arch on Divinity’s Reach, I think it’s the most beautiful city in any fantasy RPG ever.

I’m thinking the Pale Tree is the target. Firstly, it creates a reason for what appears to be an exposition encounter (the audience with the Pale Tree, that is) to feature combat. It was also fore… well, shadowed isn’t really the right word for something so direct. Scarlet dreamed about thorns attacking the Pale Tree, this is well established at least outside of the game.

But other than that, there’s the fact that the Sylvari are the only race without a Dragon Nemesis. The Asura were driven from the underground by Primordus, the Norn were driven from the Northern Shiverpeaks by Jormag, Kraalkatorik carved a path of destruction through Charr territory, and Zhaitan not only destroyed one of the most important human cities (the original Lion’s Arch), he desecrated an entire continent’s worth of human dead, defiling their most holy city in the process. The Sylvari need to have some very personal beef with an Elder Dragon.

Now, it seems like there are limits to how far they can go without wrecking the personal story, especially until they get the ability to have phasing in instances. Jennah and the Charr leaders only live in instances, but the Pale Tree is the entire kitten Sylavri hometown. I doubt the tree will die, but perhaps Mordy will make the map look pretty nasty, and strengthen the call of Nightmare to corrupt a lot of Sylvari.
