the living world biggest flaw
your missing the point, i think you replied to the wrong conversation mate, this is not about them bringing new content I’m happy the way they are going with it, this is about the fact that if you miss certain living world releases you’re screwed story wise.
read properly b4 you reply to something you do not fully understand what it is about.
the ability to go back and replay previous living world releases is a must for the growth of the game. would you watch whatever series is your favorite knowing you will never get to see the 1st season ever ? only hear say from others.
I completely agree. I have been uninterested in the living world events until the Clockwork Chaos stuff came out. But I had a very busy week and a half of work (school just started), so I barely had time to get through the conclusion of Queen Jennah’s speech and track down the first portal-making device before I got on tonight…. just in time to see that we’ve now moved on to a completely different living world event that I have no interest in. And I can never go back and see what I missed for Clockwork Chaos. Frankly, that ticked me off and made me decide not to play tonight at all.
The problem is that ArenaNet is happy with the direction this is going. They have their metrics showing more and more people logging in on a daily basis. The problem is that these are the people who burn through content as fast as possible, and no matter what is added, they’ll be leaving this game as soon as the next big MMO is released.
ArneaNet is no longer building their game or even their fanbase’s game. They’re creating content geared towards these MMO hoppers.
It’s more like a daily soap opera that spits out episodes at a rate that’s too fast to have any quality. Anet: We want “The Wire,” not “Days of our Lives.”
They’re sacrificing the lore for gimmicks. SAB has absolutely nothing to do with anything and doesn’t even fit well. They just give us the “asura smart. asura build things” explanation. We’re supposed to be plagued by dragons and it’s like no one is questioning what happened with the human gods. The living story is just a creative team going off on tangents. The game has turned into nothing but a series of small episodes with little relation to each other or anything else.

Admittedly I was really starting to enjoy the LS, flame&frost kind of kicked that off for me, and have been enjoying it til SAB. I would like to see LS spread out lil more 3-4weeks at a time & more in depth.
SAB…I just don’t know, fun for some but a kick in the teeth for the LS.
My 2cents, that book we got that unlocked a cut scene to that current LS was fantastic..I’am really hoping they give us a personal LS library in our home instance to reflect back, show new players, or show players that had to take a break from the story.
As someone who has tried to invest in the constant updates it has gotten to stage, for me at least, where it’s become overwhelming and I’ve decided it’s time to put the brakes on a little.
Interestingly this is in part because the hurried 2 week releases are so BUGGY that I’ve had to replay content to get an achievement that didn’t update.
Literally when something doesn’t update, I’m left contemplating do I REALLY want to go back at do this again? ‘Portal closures’ comes to mind where they had you doing 13/13 closures ( Just checked to find they’d changed it to 5/5) I sat on 11/13 for AGES and resented having to play back through content KNOWING if I didn’t do it now I would miss out forever.
Maybe I could stomach it more if I could come back to it a month later. If it remained permanent at least they would be in a better position to remove the bugs. As of now it’s impossible and I for one have decided to let the LS go, because it’s not worth the aggravation.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
