I first noticed this on my Ranger (who is now 80) 1 – 30 was the most boring time ever, If I ever went somewhere to far I got blown up and killed, but staying in the lower levels was to easy and annoying, all I want to do is hearts as they’re fun.

The struggle is that after 30 I have this major fun and level so quickly, but this kitten 1 -30 is killing me, I’m at 14 on my thief and I cannot stand it..

Edit: Didn’t even catch me to go to other peoples starting areas, gosh I’m an idiot.

if you really find it too easy to be fun, try purposefully go to area where mobs is a bit higher lvl than you? This also double as getting increased drop chances when you fight enemies over your level. If you have to skip some stuff for it when you reahc 80 you can always go back and jsut blow it out in a few minutes likely.

I don’t mind loot, I love a challenge, if something gets easy I start to get bored.
Legit at lower levels anything 3 levels higher then you seems to blow you up.
I die to Centaurs on my level 14 Thief, which is not right. Maybe I just lag or whatever but they seem to insta gib me.

I personally think their needs to be a little more 1 – 30 content, I mean at level 14 my Personal story expects me to go into a level 25 zone, what the heck is that, lmao.

Maybe a lower level only training area which becomes unavailable at 10 – 20 – 30 etc.
Or make the events a little more common, the exp is good it’s just things aren’t as common in the starting areas as the others.

ehmm you are not supposed to level solely with personal story, in fact the majority of your xp should be gotten by DE’s mainly, in fact by the time my 2 lvl 80’s were max lvl my peronsal story on them both was around the 40’s still

My thief is also a bit of a dud sitting at lvl 24.
Personally I find lvl 20- 40 the most draggy and I try to speed through those- I enjoy most of the starter zones but Queensdale is my least favorite and I have mostly humans, go figure.
I usually do go to other races areas and I mix it up quite a bit to keep it interesting, my characters bounce all over the place

On some classes you can level quickly on higher level content but not so much on others.
If you really feel in need to gain a couple of levels quick just craft a bit, very quick and easy and relatively painless.

My PS says I need to be level 14 but I have to go into a level 25 zone.. I enjoy the PS also, I mix it up.

And yes Queensdale sucks.

Whoa.

Crafting provides generous experience. Personal story = XP + items.

The crowd is great around Divinity’s Reach and Hoebrak (events) except of course for the persistent lonewolf who even declares themselves on map chat. Get a group, form a party.

Just because it’s an MMO doesn’t mean I have to interact with other people.

But your experience is largely influenced by the existence of other people, if indirectly the majority of the time.

I can relate to that since I often just want to play by myself- I love it that in this game I am not forced to group, unless I want to.

If you also dislike Queensdale I suggest trying the Norn lands, the quests are fun and the zone is sort of split in two- one part 1— 6 and the other until lvl 15.
Char zones I also find awesome as they are very unique.

If you do not use consumables like food, oils, tuning crystals etc- I would recommend it since they give nice buffs and added xp.
Also you get a lot of xp just from gathering stuff.
If you 100% all the vistas, hearts, poi etc on a map you get some good gear that you can either use or sell, some mats and a random item like transmute stones.

Incidently I remember having to go into Kessex Hills I think for my story at a lvl 14 or so and for the next bits too.. if I remember correctly it was fairly easy just to run there get the waypoint and do the story. I generally explore the zones I find interesting and them just run to the story if it is not in a zone I am exploring at the time.

I mean at level 14 my Personal story expects me to go into a level 25 zone, what the heck is that, lmao.

I’ve done several different racial personal stories and none have taken me into a level 25 zone at level 14. What you will find is that around level 14 your personal story will move into the next map which ranges from level 15-25. Your story will take place at the level 15 end of the map, not the 25 end.

As a Ranger, you should try the challenge of running around the world low level and collecting pets. I ran all the way to the south of Straits of Devastation to the cave filled with juvenile animals. It’s a nice way to see how good you are in avoiding damage (most things will oneshot you and I was level 4) as well.

as you have already edited, you can go to other starter areas.

You can also level up in WvW following the zerg. You might not get many kills but you should get some good xp from events.

Crafting is amazing on low levels. You should have a stockpile of components from your main.

Yeah, those levels aren’t the greatest. You’re done exploring skills, but not powerful enough to advance or really look into traits.

Try leveling through crafting? I bumped my thief up about 10 levels just raising cooking and artificing.

I hadn’t expected to see this old cliched question on the GW2 forums, a game which as I see it at my relatively early stage is a game designed to be soloed to level cap and ‘group’ content is, except for loot grinding instances, ah doc world events without the need for formal grouping.

Oh, and the answer to your question: no off-line game is remotely as large with so many things to do as an MMO I’ve ever played, even when I ‘solo’ it.

Finally, let me give a cliche answer to your cliche question: The ‘G’ in MMORPG doesn’t stand for Groups; also ‘Massively Multiplayer’ means others to interact with, it doesn’t per se mean ‘play with’.

I may just head off to the Charr area. Thanks everyone. :}

I just started playing my first alt – a norn guardian on the weekend.
I did map content and personal story until lvl 20, and now speed crafting her through to lvl 40 by maxing 2 crafts.

I find this avoids the difficult ’20’s’ and ’30’s’ where some content is harder to solo and weapons/armour are crap. Also allows you to get a reasonable build together, so going back out into the world will let you complete lower level map content more quickly.
