Once your main is 80, is a ToK’s spirit shard worth more than the +1 lvl for an alt – time and effort-wise?

If you’re in dire need of Spirit Shard, I would assume its worth but otherwise, that +1 level to an alt or simply the convenience is much better value. You can potentially use 10 per week to get a free Black Lion Key as well…

Spirit Shards are also farmable through some mobs (with low rate) so I’d say keep your Tomes for potential use later on

Ten tomes of knowledge can get you a key, not 10 spirit shards. Make a new character, level it to 10 with tomes, and do the level 10 personal story steps. I personally hang on to tomes to level alts, because I have plenty of shards, but if you want to convert them to shards, that’s your choice!

You only need 8 or 9 tomes not 10 since you start at 1 and you end up at 2 after the starting instance.

If you want to farm for spirits shards then silverwastes chest farm is probably better than going after random mobs.

Silverwastes is a lvl 80 zone west of Brisban Wildlands. You can access it trough Fort Vandal(i hope its caller this way). When you are there, complete few events to get Bandit crests, buy some keys and go farm some chests. Use LFG to join a party called CF, chest farm or cf taxi.
