Understood and accepted.
I have just seen too many responses of the nature which I was referring to. These shows a lack of class and up bring.
Which is a selfish and self severing attitude which all should state is wrong. Simply it is a minor form of bullying behavior.
As for your statement to me. I apologies that I have offended you since my indent was and is to have all respect each other
OMG !
Well in that case, apologies accepted.
And I retract my statement, because your last response had TONS of class.
Good day, and best of luck.
PS: I deleted my previous post.

Stop tempting me! :p
I can understand if you’re letting a train slaughter other players but if im travelling i’m not going to look around and make sure no ones there i’m going to be running and i’m not going to avoid other players when doing so as they might need my help.
You honestly think this is so important it needs to be challenged? This is nothing. You wanna start talking about the behaviour of players and how it affects others? How about starting by looking at things that are actually toxic like the sexism and homophobia within our community.
Folks are forgetting that this is a MMO (massive MULTI-player online game). Remember you are not the only person playing
Please remember we share Tyria not own it out right
When people decide to make their own MMO, then they can start making their own rules.
Until then…..
There are far more annoying things that happen because of other players than this. Play the way you want.
Your post make sense, for some other game, where mobs chase relentlessly forever and are inescapable. All the mobs with the exception of Champions are easily killed by everyone.

Under usual situations you are correct.
“#4” though actually covers the exception to the rule. There may be times where someone has been fighting several mobs. Their utility skills are in the middle of their timing cycle and just has you are about to kill the last one with minimum health you get trained and down you go.
I have not only witnessed this take place as I was coming to the persons aid but had it happen to me more then once.
Still common courtesy and respect for others should never take a back-burn since people only see a “cartoon character” the seem to forget that there is a real human being telling that avatar what to do.
This not only goes for MMOs but for real live as well. You can go further in everything just by giving someone respect.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
Can you maybe give a specific example of this? In my almost 2.5k hours of playing time I have never seen problems like this. Only time I know people who died from those “trains” is when they are AFK. And personally I would never blame anyone if I died akitteng in a non safe zone
Being hit by someone’s train is irritating beyond all hell. I can count the number of times on one hand it happened to me but it happens. Usually when I think I’m safely afk and I comeback to find a player corpse nearby and mobs hitting me but once a guy just ran through a mess of ogres with their pets without a care and jumped off a ledge and continued on his merry way. Nearly crapped myself when they instantly turned in my direction. It was pretty rude.
Decent message for the community Krosslite, thank you.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Oh I agree if you AFK that is your problem, but examples are included in the original post already and in my post to Pure Heart.

I agree there are other things that take place that are “more annoying” but if you start with the little stuff and go from there you will learn to be respectful in the long run.
As for “Play the way you want” This is actually against the rules of conduct for this game.
Item 1 – While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. Finding afk players who didn’t go to a city and pulling mobs to them to kill them and rez and repeat is one of the most fun activities in the game
It’s like a strip show! They slowly take off their armor for you after you do it enough times.
on topic: I don’t think MOB’s train in this game like old MMO’s. a mob with aggro will only switch aggro if you provoke it by attacking. a person running by with mobs following them will have those mobs continue to follow them until they leash and run back to their spawn point. Unless you attack the training mobs there is really no concerns or worries to other players. Obviously AOE can be a problem for certain mobs, but if you are running through an area then any one spot is not likely to be hit hard with AOE.

Actually that is not true. Sometimes the leash is too long, and if they are red they will attack you no matter especially right after the leash breaks

When someone drags a train of mobs to me, I kill them all, then silently thank the person for the free loot. Open world PvE is too easy to complain about.
I also never afk at stupid spots. I use my handy hall of monuments portal stone, or I jump into the mists.

Most often I feel that we all can pull this off, but there are times when you might not be able to.
It is better to show the respect and try not to get into this situation in the first place just in case that certain time happens where you are low on health and your utility timers are not close to refreshing.
As stated above from ArenaNet themselves: treat other people as you’d like to be treated
I don’t believe this kind of thing should really cause distress to anyone. A player running by dragging a bunch of mobs with them should be viewed like a player generated random dynamic event. So a guy runs by at the worst possible time and I get swamped by some mobs. Well there’s a situation where all of a sudden im fighting for my virtual life, an unexpected event that may end up with me dying and having to respawn (a small inconvenience at most times). Or maybe I make it through after an epic battle? Either way it puts a smile on my face as that’s the reason I play MMOs, for the random player encounters. Just because these random encounters might result in my character dying doesn’t mean they are a bad thing, dying is part of the game and a challenge should be relished.
So no, I won’t personally be following these rules. And please follow Anets golden rule and treat me the same way, I want that bunch of mobs to blindside me mid fight, it’s fun.
After some encounters in game and some posts in the forum I felt it was time again to refresh folks memories about player etiquette.
Several people especially those with a higher level are getting where they wish to rush from one place to the other.
Folks are forgetting that this is a MMO (massive MULTI-player online game). Remember you are not the only person playing.
Online anonymity makes people into kittenpuppies. This is the internet, this is to be expected. Doesn’t mean I’m a puppykitten or you are, some people have manners even with masks on. But some don’t and they ruin it for everyone.
Some people will drop mobs on others because it helps them get someplace faster, not regarding any form of etiquette. The anonymity in a game allows them to do that.
NOTE: Any replies that are post stating “welcome to the internet” will be considered inflammatory and reported as such.
All people should respect each other. Just because you do not personally know them is not an excuse. We are all real people with real feeling.
Report me, I dare you. The correct answer is the one answer you won’t accept. That’s silly.

I still don’t understand why this is a big deal. Disengaging in open world PVE is not difficult.

understood and respected.
My goal here is to maybe enlighten a console player that is use to running around in an RPG with no one but themselves there. If it helps out some more experienced MMOer the more the better.
Will this post stop it? No.
Since I have posted one like it before near the beginning of the game.
As stated it is mainly a reminder and an aid
(edited by Krosslite.1950)
To OP…..Well:
I have played this game quite a lot, and what you describe has never happened to me. Ever.
I cannot think of too many places where it could happen…maybe in some of the dungeons I guess. But in a dungeon everyone should be in the same party…and on the same page…so I don’t really see how it could happen there either.
In GW2, nothing really chases you very far. They run back to their “hangout” and reset.
I guess I am trying to say I have never experienced what you are complaining about, so I have trouble seeing your point.
Also, making an opinion post and adding text at the bottom about what sorts of responses you deem to be “acceptable” is an exercise in futility. It will cause you nothing but grief. Sorry, but that’s the truth.
A noble pursuit, but the wording and reminder note left a bad taste in my mouth.
At any rate, the suggestions aren’t very realistic to me. I don’t know where the confined areas are on every map. Finding detours is impossible in some zones if someone is nearby. And I’m certainly not going to announce everytime I have mobs chasing me in map chat either. I keep my head in the game, but this is all excessive for just travelling.
I do often help with kills whether it’s because of my train or someone who is struggling when I got there. I also keep Mass Invis on my bar, so I can give people a chance to escape. That’s about as much as I’m willing to do.

Well first I wasn’t complaining.
Second I am aware that many people do not encounter this. This is just a tool meant to aid and advice, thus the statement at the end. There is no need to flame advice that is trying to help the community; not harm it.
I must also add that from learned experience. Over twenty years of MMO play under my belt. That those that state they have never encountered an issue is mainly due to that fact that they are the ones causing the issue.
Do not get me wrong I am not accusing you of anything. It is my experience to these issue. I just wish to pass on some wisdom, not attack anyone and those that wish to attack someone for offering advice needs to maybe rethink their overall morals. Or just do what most do; ignore it. Do I expect to change those playing the game? No. If I do though then my advice has at least helped that person and those around him.
You throw one pebble into a pond then the ripples spread out to eventually affect the entire pond. (yes I am borrowing from Terry Goodkind there)
Yes I am aware of how the leashing works in this game. I have also noted that sometimes the leash goes a bit further then planned by the devs. The fact remains that if a mob is red and you are near it when the leash breaks you will be attacked.

Well it is doable to announce. When I played EQ there was always someone shouting train to such and such. So I know it can be done, but is not done. Again it is a suggestion.
I am glad you are willing and able to help out in the times of need that is how it should be; but there are many that refuse to even do that; or are even aware that are doing it; because they feel they are in a solo game and not a multi-player game.
I am sorry if the last part of my thread left a bad taste in your mouth. I apologies to you for offending.
EDIT: You stated I was attempting to do something “noble.” The answer to that is no I am not. I am sharing what is “right”
Attempt to do noble deeds are something that is nearly impossible to do. While striving to do what is right is something all can do and achieve.
Common courtesy is nothing noble it is a right

Training can be a problem because of the way GW2 mobs aggro. In some other games, if a mob drops off and starts returning to its home, it ignores other players until it has fully leashed. In GW2, this does not always occur. Many times I’ve seen mobs in a train break off from their chase, and immediately aggro on another character.
This does not often bother me, as I am usually able to handle situations in open world PvE. However, this does not change the fact that the training player was inconsiderate. Are there more pressing issues in player behavior? Maybe, but any initiative to make a better playing environment for everyone is not a bad idea.
Sigh. Let me try again.
Trains aren’t a problem because mobs are easy to kill, and if you’re kiting them towards other players you’re basically giving them loot. I don’t see the problem.

Not everyone is as good at the game as you are. After all, that player may be wearing survivability blues, be on level, and may be new to the game. Maybe you can tell all that at a glance, but my guess is that most players won’t even bother. And if the loot is something to look forward to, why not kill the mobs rather than training them?

Rule of Conduct for Guild Wars 2
Item 1 > While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress…………..
This very first part of the rules of conduct say you are in the wrong. It is not “expected.”
When people do nothing about it then people assume it is “expected”
I for one have done something. I have written an aid, a guide to help teach those that share the world of Tyria how to give common courtesy to one another.
A mask is not an excuse not to have manners. In fact that is when you truly show the world who you really are as a person. Simply that is the time you should have the most manners.
Honestly I feel sorry for you, because your true mask is very ugly indeed.
To quote my well-informed and educated friend, david after dentist... Is this real-life? Training is not an issue in any sense and to suggest that because I’m running somewhere and someone ahead is killing mobs I’m supposed to now run far around them (thus slowing my travel time) is the norm? It’s entirely unnecessary and you are probably the only person who practices this; 0/10.

Other responses above counter your satement, and common courtesy be it in a game or real live starts inside the person and is expressed by their actions and their words.
This thread made me LOL…
Never amazes me how much people think of themselves…but it’s actually called and MMO*RPG*(Massively multi-player role playing game. Sure training is annoying, IF intentional…but by no means a punishable offense.
I assume a guide on how to train would just as acceptable to you? Considering you feel the empowered to do the opposite and somehow feel it is the correct way to play? Or your way of playing the only way to play a MMO
Or does the mask of Krosslite do no wrong? I mean, this is just your mask and have no way to know how you are real life situations…correct? Why does this guide need to exist?

I have already shown in replies above that we are given guideline to follow and that trianing is in the greyzone now days. In EQ it was a bannable offense. Now it is pure common courtesy and repect for your fellows within the game we play.
And no one is perfect but yes the “mask” you see in my words and screen name are a true reflection of me
EDIT: As to why this guide needs to exist. The very fact that you question it and find it humorous says it does.

Item 1 – While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.
This actually does nothing for your argument since this deals with personal attacks, not someone trying to get from point A to B and not fight every single foe that gets in the way. That being said I can’t believe that this thread has turned into this nonsense. It is an open world game if someone pulls something on to you fight it or run away don’t come to the forums where you can’t possible believe that anyone is going to adhere to your rules and you aren’t going to get trolled. Good luck with that.

No it is a broad statement for overall gameplay. they then add specifics for the more severe abuses so they can address these particular abuses in a faster manner, and rightly so I may add
EDIT: Also as stated above this is a guide not a rule. I am fully aware there will be people that choose to ignore it. As for the flaming. To date I have yet to see any true flaming. I have seen legitimate arguments and respond in kind. I have yet to report any post on this thread for being inflammatory.

I do mob trains a lot. I am a warrior specced for speed and mobility, so if I don’t feel like taking them head on, I usually don’t (I’m looking at you Ascalonian ghosts). I do stop and kill them if someone happens to be in the way, but otherwise I don’t put much thought into it.
So far I’ve always seen people stopping to help players who are overwhelmed. I’ve had mob trains on myself before, but the people in this game, or at least on my server, are generally nice people such that I have yet to come across anyone griefing other players.
I’ve done trains before when I’ve been in a hurry to get somewhere, but if I accidentally drag them into someone else, I will stop and help them fight. There’s only been two occasions when someone dragged a train into me. One time they stopped to help, the other time they just kept on running. I didn’t mind as I’m fairly competent and it takes a large amount of enemies to take me down, but all the same, I make sure to park myself in a safe spot (the HoM Portal Stone is great for this) before I go AFK.

I commend both of you for being a great example to your fellow players. First for admitting you do cause trains time to time and secondly staying to help your fellows in what could turn out to be their time in need.
I give you both a +1
